It suits buyers who need a large memory pool in a small chassis for local AI and heavy desktop work. It is a poor fit for anyone who expects to add memory later or needs 10GbE networking built in. The sections below separate what the manufacturer lists, what published reviews observed, and what you must decide before ordering.
Who the M5 fits
- Local AI experimentation: the 128GB capacity is the main reason to consider this machine. Whether a specific model runs well depends on its size, quantization, runtime and how much memory your setup can assign to graphics (see the memory section).
- Demanding desktop work: TechRadar’s reviewer was broadly positive about the processor and integrated graphics, citing CAD, video editing and local AI among the applications tested.
- Buyers who accept 2.5GbE: the onboard wired port is 2.5GbE, so 10GbE users need an adapter.
It is a weaker choice if you want to upgrade memory later, need a fixed and predictable price, or need the lowest-cost route to a 128GB AI system. ServeTheHome positions the M5 as cheaper than an AMD Ryzen AI Halo system, but the size of that gap depends on seller and promotion.

What is fixed at purchase
BOSGAME’s product listing defines the 128GB configuration as the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060S graphics, 128GB onboard LPDDR5X and a 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD. The same listing shows a 96GB option. The table shows what each component means for later changes.

Memory: the decision you make at checkout
Because TechRadar reports that the memory is soldered and has no slots, the capacity you order is the capacity you keep. Treat the 128GB and 96GB options as separate products. Before ordering, work out the size of the largest model you plan to run, then add runtime and context overhead. Confirm how much memory the operating system and graphics driver will let you assign to the integrated GPU, because the published reviews cited here do not establish that limit for this unit.
Storage: the one practical upgrade path
TechRadar’s review unit had two full-size M.2 slots, with a 2TB Kingston drive in one of them and Windows 11 Pro installed. Those are details of that review unit. Do not assume every shipping unit uses the same drive supplier, slot layout or software image.
- Check the SKU’s listing or BOSGAME’s documentation to confirm the slot count for your configuration. Do not rely on reviews alone.
- Confirm that a second slot is free. In the reviewed unit, one slot was occupied, which leaves one open.
- Buy an M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe drive. The factory SSD is PCIe 4.0, so match that generation for full speed.
- Ask the seller whether opening the case affects the warranty before you start.
- After installing the drive, open Windows key + X, choose Disk Management, and confirm the new drive appears. Initialize and format it if it does not show a partition.
Ports and networking
- Wired LAN: one 2.5GbE port, which ServeTheHome identifies as the main shortcoming relative to 10GbE-equipped alternatives.
- USB4: one front port and one rear port, per ServeTheHome’s description.
- Display outputs: rear HDMI and DisplayPort.
- Other front connectors: two USB-A ports, an SD card reader and front audio.
- Controls: a three-mode performance selector, as described by ServeTheHome.
ServeTheHome’s Patrick Kennedy wrote in the August 21, 2026 review: “The LAN port, to us is the one to talk about. It is a Realtek 2.5GbE port.”

Adding 10GbE with a USB adapter
ServeTheHome names a USB 10GbE adapter as an option. It is not included with the M5, and it is not a universal fix. Before buying, check the adapter’s chipset, confirm that your version of Windows has a driver for it, and confirm which port it will use. The published reviews cited here do not report measured throughput through a USB 10GbE adapter on this system.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Performance evidence and its limits
The main performance evidence comes from three published sources, each with different scope:
- TechRadar was broadly positive about the processor and integrated graphics across demanding applications, including CAD, video editing and local AI. That verdict belongs to TechRadar’s reviewer and its test conditions.
- Hardware Busters published a September 2026 comparison between its 128GB M5 and the ASUS Ascent GX10 for its own AI workflow. The two units used different storage capacities and interfaces, so the comparison is not a like-for-like price or spec benchmark. Its results apply to that workload, model, quantization, runtime and memory allocation, and no others.
- ServeTheHome focused on the hardware, ports and value proposition. Its published review did not establish a general performance figure that applies beyond its test conditions.
Based on these sources, the M5 has no independently verified tokens-per-second figure, model-size guarantee or sustained-load noise and thermal result that applies to every workload. Treat the 16-core, 32-thread specification as a manufacturer and reviewer figure, not as a benchmark result.
