PhoneArena reported the speaker at about $280 on Amazon on June 21, down $120 from a $400 reference price. Separately, Bose’s US product page displayed it for $279 against $399 on October 4, 2026. That later listing is a price observation, not proof that the June Amazon offer is still available or that either price is an all-time low.
What happened to the pre–Prime Day price?
PhoneArena reported on June 21, 2026 that the SoundLink Max was about $280 on Amazon, $120 below a $400 reference price. Amazon’s Prime Day 2026 event ran June 23–26, and Amazon described the speaker as up to 30% off during the event. TechRadar also listed it at $279, down from $399, in US Prime Day coverage on June 24. These are historical sale reports, not current Amazon offers.

Was it the SoundLink Max’s lowest price?
PhoneArena characterized the June 21 price as the lowest so far in 2026 and reported that the $120 discount had appeared once before, in December 2025. That is a publication’s comparison within 2026—not an established all-time-low claim. Amazon’s description of the speaker as up to 30% off during Prime Day is event-specific and does not establish a price-history record.

What do you get with the SoundLink Max?
Bose describes the Max as a portable stereo Bluetooth speaker with a removable rope handle. It weighs 4.7 lb and has an IP67 water- and dust-resistance rating. Its listed features include USB-C charging, phone charging from the speaker, Bose app control with adjustable EQ, a 3.5 mm audio input and the ability to pair two SoundLink Max speakers in Stereo or Party mode. Bose lists no microphone.
The included rope handle is removable. Bose identifies a shoulder strap as an optional, separately sold accessory, as well as additional handle colors. Check that an accessory listing explicitly names the SoundLink Max as compatible before ordering.
How long does the battery last?
Bose advertises up to 20 hours, but that is an estimate rather than guaranteed playback time. Bose’s support specifications give up to three hours at maximum volume and up to five hours to recharge with a 3A/15W power supply. Bose says actual battery life varies with factors including content, volume and temperature. Treat the 20-hour figure as a best-case reference, especially if you plan to play music loudly.
Is the SoundLink Max a good fit compared with smaller Bose speakers?
The Max’s weight, stereo configuration and battery estimate make it a different proposition from Bose’s smaller SoundLink Micro. Bose lists the Micro at about 0.68 lb, with mono sound and six hours of listed battery life. It is much easier to carry, but it is not a like-for-like substitute for the larger stereo Max.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy it at $279?
At a confirmed $279 price, the Max is worth considering if you want a substantial portable stereo speaker, IP67 protection, app-based EQ and the option to pair it with another Max. Its 4.7 lb weight makes it less suitable if low carrying weight is the priority; the Micro is the smaller Bose option, while the Flex Gen 2 appeared at a much lower historical Prime Day price. Compare the current price and features of the alternatives rather than assuming the Max is the best choice on every measure.
