No. The Bose Smart Soundbar 300 is not documented as compatible with just any subwoofer. Bose names three compatible bass modules: the Bass Module 500, Bass Module 700, and Acoustimass 300. A third-party subwoofer may have a connector or wireless feature that looks promising, but Bose’s compatibility information does not establish that it will work with this soundbar.
Which subwoofers does Bose list for the Smart Soundbar 300?
The Bose Smart Soundbar 300 Owner’s Guide says, “You can connect any of these accessories to the soundbar,” and lists these three models:

- Bose Bass Module 500: Bose’s product guidance also identifies the Smart Soundbar 300 as compatible.
- Bose Bass Module 700: Bose lists it as compatible on its product page, as well as in the Soundbar 300 guide.
- Acoustimass 300 bass module: This appears in the Soundbar 300 owner’s guide as a compatible accessory. It is a legacy option, so owners of an existing or used unit should confirm its exact model and instructions.
The compatibility documentation establishes which models Bose supports; it does not provide a direct performance comparison between them. Choose based on what you already own, what is available, and the size and placement that suit your room rather than assuming one will sound better.
Can you connect a third-party subwoofer?
Bose’s published compatibility list does not name third-party subwoofers, and the available documentation does not confirm that an arbitrary wired or wireless subwoofer will work. A matching-looking connector alone is not evidence of compatibility. If you are considering a model outside the list, do not assume it can pair with the Soundbar 300; seek confirmation for the exact models from their manufacturers before buying.

How do you connect a supported Bose bass module?
For a Bose Smart Soundbar, the Bass Module 500 Owner’s Guide directs users to connect through the Bose app. Follow the app’s instructions for the specific soundbar and module. Do not treat the guide’s other connection examples as a universal wired method for the Soundbar 300: it separately describes an audio cable for the Bose TV Speaker and an alternate wired setup for soundbars.
Bose says the Bass Module 500 can be hardwired to select Bose soundbars using the Bose Bass Module Connection Cable. Since that guidance is limited to select models, check the applicable instructions for your exact setup before buying a cable or choosing a wired connection.

Where should you place the Bass Module 500?

Which option makes sense for you?
- Buying a compatible module: The Bass Module 500 and Bass Module 700 are both listed for the Soundbar 300 by Bose. Compare their current availability, price, and physical dimensions before choosing; the cited compatibility information does not rank their sound.
- You already own an Acoustimass 300: The Soundbar 300 guide lists it as compatible. Check the unit’s condition and exact setup instructions, particularly if it is used.
- You want to reuse a non-Bose subwoofer: Compatibility is not established by Bose’s documentation. Confirm the exact pairing with the manufacturers rather than relying on connector type or an assumption that wireless audio features are interchangeable.
