The Echo remains the Alexa device; pairing does not add Alexa controls or features to the Solo 5. For television sound, connect the TV to the Solo 5 separately.
Pair the Bose Solo 5 with an Echo

Turn on the Solo 5. Use the Bluetooth control on its remote to put the soundbar into pairing mode, then check the Bluetooth indicator to confirm it is ready. Bose describes the pairing controls and indicator behavior in its Owner’s Guide.

In the Alexa app, go to Devices, select your Echo, open Device Settings, choose Bluetooth Devices, then select Pair A New Device. Choose the Solo 5 when it appears. Amazon’s documented path is described in Pair Your Phone or Bluetooth Speaker to Your Echo Device. Labels can vary with the Echo model or Alexa app version.

After initial pairing, turn on Bluetooth and say “Pair Bluetooth” to the Echo to reconnect. Amazon notes that some previously paired devices may reconnect automatically when they are in range.

The Echo sends its audio to the Solo 5 over Bluetooth. That connection is for Echo playback; it does not establish a connection between the Echo and your TV.
If the Echo cannot find the Solo 5

Confirm the soundbar is still in pairing mode and check its Bluetooth indicator.

Make sure the Solo 5 is not connected to another device. If an old pairing is interfering, use the Bose guide’s procedure to clear the soundbar’s Bluetooth pairing list, then try pairing again.

The Solo 5 has Bluetooth input built in, so its Bluetooth pairing procedure does not inherently require an adapter.

Connect the TV to the Solo 5 for television sound
Use a separate wired audio connection from the TV to the soundbar. Bose documents optical, coaxial and analog RCA connections; its setup guide prefers optical for digital audio. If the TV lacks an analog or digital audio output but has a headphone jack, Bose describes using a 3.5 mm stereo-to-dual-RCA adapter. See the Bose guide to connecting other devices and the Solo 5 owner’s guide for the soundbar’s available inputs and source selection.
Use one cable path at a time. Enable the TV’s audio output and select the matching output format or external-speaker setting if required by the TV. The exact menu depends on the television model.

Bose lists the Solo 5 TV sound system’s sale period as 2015–2021 on its product support page, making it a legacy model. That date range does not establish current availability, price, or the condition of any listing. If buying one, verify the model and condition with the seller.
