Bose’s QuietComfort SC is an over-ear noise-cancelling headphone with Quiet and Aware modes, app-based sound controls, and a soft carry case. Bose claims up to 24 hours of playback with noise cancelling on, but that is a manufacturer estimate—not an independent measurement. The main buying caveat is that published performance testing of related QuietComfort models should not be treated as testing of the SC itself.
What the QuietComfort SC is—and how it relates to the QC45
Bose describes the QuietComfort SC as an over-ear, Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphone. Bose’s FAQ calls the SC a successor to the QuietComfort 45 (QC45). What Hi-Fi? characterizes it as essentially the standard QuietComfort model, with a soft carry case instead of a hard one, and says it had not technically reviewed the SC. Those descriptions provide family context, not proof that every revision, specification, or regional bundle is identical. Check the precise model name and included accessories on the seller’s listing for your market.

That distinction matters when reading reviews: coverage or measurements of a QC45 or another QuietComfort model do not establish how the SC performs. SoundGuys has covered related QuietComfort-family products, but the available evidence does not provide an independent hands-on test of this exact SC SKU. Listening modes and EQ
Bose advertises Quiet Mode for noise cancelling and Aware Mode for hearing more of your surroundings. The Bose app also lets users create custom modes and adjust bass, midrange, and treble. Those features describe the available controls; they do not establish how effective the noise cancelling is or whether the sound profile will suit a particular listener.

Two-device connections and range
Bose says the headphones can connect to two mobile devices at once. Its FAQ describes switching behavior when a call comes in on one connected device while audio is playing on another. Bose lists Bluetooth range as up to 30 ft (9 m); obstacles and interference can reduce it. Treat this as the manufacturer’s stated maximum, not a guaranteed range in every room or commute.
How long does the battery last?
Bose claims up to 24 hours of playback with noise cancelling on. It also claims that a 15-minute quick charge provides up to four hours of play time, while a full charge can take up to two hours. These are Bose’s figures, not independently measured runtime results for the SC. Actual playback time can vary with listening volume, use, and other conditions; the available product information does not establish an exact-SC test result.

Can you listen when the battery is empty?
Yes. Bose says the headphones can continue playing in passive mode after the battery is depleted, including through a wired connection. However, active noise cancellation and Active EQ will not work without power. Passive playback is therefore a fallback for listening, not a way to keep the SC’s powered noise-cancelling or EQ features running.

There is not enough exact-SC independent testing here to make a confident performance ranking for noise cancelling, sound quality, comfort, or measured battery life. The SC may make sense if you want Bose’s stated modes and app EQ, value the included soft case, and are comfortable relying on manufacturer specifications rather than an independent test of this SKU. If you need verified performance comparisons, seek a review that identifies the SC specifically rather than assuming QC45 results transfer.

Price and availability need a fresh check. On October 7, 2026, Bose’s US product page displayed $329 and marked the headphones sold out; that is a dated US listing, not a current universal price or stock guarantee. Check the seller, exact model, included case, return terms, and warranty before purchasing. Bose’s US product page is the reference for its listed features, box contents, and then-displayed availability.
