What kind of dishwasher is the SMI88TS02A?
It is a stainless-steel, 60 cm semi-integrated dishwasher. Semi-integrated means the control panel is visible on the front; it is not a fully integrated model with controls concealed on the top edge, or a freestanding dishwasher. Bosch lists a capacity of 15 international place settings, a third loading level called VarioDrawer Pro, adjustable racks and interior EmotionLight lighting. Those features describe the layout and specification, not independently verified cleaning performance.

How well does it wash, and what can be verified?
The public CHOICE listing confirms the model’s claimed capacity, consumption figures and ratings, but it does not publicly show its test results, year tested, reliability results or customer-satisfaction results. The available information therefore does not support a specific independent performance score or a firsthand verdict on cleaning and drying.

Bosch lists eight programs: Auto Intensive, Auto Gentle, Auto Wash, Eco Wash, ExtraQuiet, Glass Wash, Quick Wash 60 minutes and Quick Wash 29 minutes. Bosch describes the 29-minute program as an express wash with rinse aid. Listed options are Extra Dry, SpeedPerfect, HygienePlus and Half Load; Bosch says Half Load is for up to seven place settings. Confirm the names and functions in the manual for your exact market variant.
Rack flexibility
The VarioDrawer Pro third level is intended for cutlery and utensils. Bosch also lists an adjustable upper basket, foldable tines, a GlassSecure Tray and a large-item spray head. These give you more ways to arrange a load, but the specification sheet alone cannot establish how well a particular load will come out.

How loud is it?
Bosch Australia lists the SMI88TS02A at 42 dB(A). The specification sheet separately lists 40 dB for the ExtraQuiet program; that is a program-specific figure, not the model’s general noise rating. Bosch does not give a publication year for these figures in the reviewed materials.

How much water and energy does it use?
Bosch lists 12 litres of water per wash and 235 kWh of energy per year, both based on the Eco 45°C program. These are manufacturer figures tied to that program basis; actual household use depends on the programs and options selected and how often the dishwasher runs. Bosch’s available sheet also lists a 4-star energy rating and 5-star water rating. The sheet does not state its year, so do not assume those ratings are current or apply in every jurisdiction.

What are the SMI88TS02A’s dimensions?
Bosch Australia’s catalogue gives dimensions of 815–875 × 598 × 573 mm for the semi-integrated model. CHOICE lists 82 × 60 × 55 cm. The sources differ in precision and presentation, so use the installation manual for the exact variant and check the cabinet opening, clearances and installation requirements before purchase or replacement.
Is the Bosch SMI88TS02A still available?
Bosch Home Appliances Australia states, “Product is no longer available,” and CHOICE labels the model discontinued. CHOICE lists a historical price of A$1,999; that is not a current price or evidence of present stock. Remaining-stock listings may change, so verify that a seller has the exact model and can supply it before paying. For a used unit, assess its condition, service history and installation fit rather than treating the original specifications as evidence of its present condition.

Should you consider buying one?
The case for considering it is its 15-place capacity, quiet-rated specification, third loading level and flexible racks. The central drawback is not a missing feature but the buying context: this is a discontinued model, and the public information available does not establish an independent performance or reliability verdict.
- Consider a remaining-stock or used unit only after verifying the full model code, condition, seller terms and compatibility with your kitchen.
- Compare any alternative by installation type, rack layout, general noise rating versus quiet-program rating, program-based consumption, drying system, local service and current independent test information.
- Do not assume this model has Wi-Fi or Home Connect: Bosch’s Australian product information says it does not.
