Short answer: choose the Bosch Series 4 KFN96APEAG if you have room for a 90.5 cm-wide appliance and want the larger stated fridge-and-freezer capacity with straightforward freshness controls. Choose the Samsung RF50C510ES9/EU if your kitchen suits an 81.7 cm cabinet and you specifically want a plumbed automatic ice maker, Twin Cooling Plus and SmartThings connectivity.
These are not equivalent-size machines. The Bosch is wider, taller and slightly deeper, while the Samsung gives up listed storage for a narrower footprint. The sensible decision is therefore about fit, usable layout, plumbing and connected features—not a blanket verdict on either brand.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Samsung’s multi-door range is broader than this one model. The larger RF65DG960, for example, is 912 mm wide, has 645 litres, uses 368 kWh/year and is rated at 37 dBA. That illustrates why a phrase such as “Samsung multi-door” is not enough to identify a like-for-like alternative.

|---|---|---|---|
| External dimensions | 1830 × 905 × 731 mm | 1776 × 817 × 715 mm | The Bosch is 88 mm wider and 54 mm taller; both route and installation measurements matter. |

Fit, access and installation: the decision most buyers overlook
Measure the complete delivery route before comparing features. Record the width and height of doorways, hallways, lifts and turns, then measure the final recess. Include skirting boards, radiator projections, worktop edges and any doorway that must be removed temporarily. A refrigerator that fits the alcove can still fail at the front door or on a tight stair turn.
How the two cabinets differ
The cited Bosch occupies a noticeably larger footprint. It is 88 mm wider and 54 mm taller than the cited Samsung, and its listed depth is 16 mm greater. Those differences affect door swing, passage through narrow openings and how far the front projects beyond standard units. Do not rely on the appliance body measurement alone: ask the retailer or installer for the required ventilation and hinge-clearance dimensions for the exact suffix.
Leave enough room for both doors and every drawer to open without striking a wall, island or adjacent appliance. Check the handle position, because a nominal cabinet width does not describe the full swept path of an opened door. Also confirm that the floor can support the appliance and that it can be levelled after positioning.
Plumbing changes the installation plan
The RF50C510ES9/EU explicitly includes a plumbed automatic ice maker. That means the installation needs an appropriate cold-water connection, accessible shut-off arrangement and a route that does not kink the supply line when the appliance is pushed back. Confirm who supplies the connector, whether the retailer will connect it, and what warranty conditions apply to water installation.

The cited Bosch KFN96APEAG page does not state a plumbed ice maker or dispenser. Do not assume that a Bosch multi-door model has one simply because another model does. If you do not already have plumbing, the Samsung’s ice feature may add work and installation cost; if you do have a connection, it can be a decisive convenience.
Capacity and internal layout
Why Bosch looks larger on paper
Bosch lists 405 litres of refrigerator space plus 200 litres frozen for the KFN96APEAG. That is a substantial advantage for large weekly shops, wide platters and households that keep significant frozen stock. The related KFN96VPEAA specification sheet gives 605 litres total volume, 13 kg/24 h freezing capacity, 395 kWh/year and 38 dB, but that is a different suffix and should not be silently substituted for the KFN96APEAG’s energy label.
What Samsung’s 496-litre figure means
Samsung reports 496 litres gross for the RF50C510ES9/EU, split into 331 litres refrigerator and 165 litres freezer. “Gross” and “net” capacity are not interchangeable: gross figures can include spaces that are not available for food once shelves, drawers and internal hardware are accounted for. Compare the same measurement convention when checking another model, and inspect the compartment layout if you store tall bottles, large boxes or frozen pizzas.
The Samsung’s narrower 817 mm cabinet can be more valuable than the Bosch’s extra listed litres in a compact kitchen. Conversely, fitting a narrower appliance may force more frequent shopping if your household routinely fills the freezer. Think in terms of the food you actually store rather than adding the two headline totals without checking how they were measured.
Freshness and cooling: VitaFresh versus Twin Cooling Plus
What Bosch provides
Bosch advertises a VitaFresh XXL <0°C> compartment, Total No Frost, MultiAirflow, LED lighting, Super Cool and Super Freeze. Bosch describes VitaFresh XXL <0°C> as keeping food fresh for longer in extra-large, climate-controlled refrigerator drawers. The practical appeal is a dedicated low-temperature zone for items such as meat and fish, with enough drawer volume to organise larger quantities.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Total No Frost is intended to prevent ice build-up so manual defrosting is not part of normal ownership. MultiAirflow distributes cooled air around the refrigerator, while Super Cool and Super Freeze are temporary rapid-cooling modes useful after loading a large shop or adding fresh food to the freezer.
Recommended Free Tools
What Samsung provides
The RF50C510ES9/EU lists Twin Cooling Plus and No Frost. Twin Cooling Plus is Samsung’s separate cooling approach for the refrigerator and freezer compartments, designed to manage them independently rather than treating the cabinet as one shared space. No Frost addresses ice accumulation and the associated need for manual defrosting.
Samsung’s system is a better match when you value compartment separation and want to manage the appliance through SmartThings. Bosch’s feature set is more attractive when an extra-large, temperature-controlled drawer is central to how you store fresh food.
Is VitaFresh better than Twin Cooling Plus?
There is no universal winner because they solve different problems. VitaFresh XXL <0°C> is a tangible storage zone with a stated temperature focus; Twin Cooling Plus is a cooling-system design. Choose the former for frequent use of chilled meat, fish and produce in a dedicated drawer. Choose the latter if independent compartment cooling and connected control matter more. Neither feature, by itself, proves longer food life for every ingredient or guarantees better reliability.
Ice, water and smart-home features
Samsung has the clearer feature advantage for connected kitchens. The RF50C510ES9/EU includes embedded Wi-Fi and SmartThings support, so it is the model to consider if you want app-based status, notifications or integration with other compatible devices. Confirm which functions are available in your country and with the current app version; “SmartThings support” does not mean every feature is available in every region.

The same Samsung model has a plumbed automatic ice maker. It is convenient for regular cold drinks and entertaining, but it introduces a water connection, an additional installation step and another component to maintain. If you rarely use ice or cannot install plumbing, the feature should not be treated as free value.
No connected function or plumbed dispenser is stated for the cited Bosch KFN96APEAG page. That is not proof that every Bosch Series 4 model lacks those functions; it means you must verify the exact model code rather than generalise from the brand or range name.
Energy use and noise
Both cited models carry an E energy class, so the class does not separate them. Samsung states 301 kWh/year for RF50C510ES9/EU. Bosch’s 395 kWh/year figure comes from the KFN96VPEAA specification sheet, a related suffix, not from the exact KFN96APEAG product code. Use the annual-kWh number printed on the label of the model you are buying, then multiply it by your electricity tariff to estimate consumption cost. Tariffs vary, and a label estimate is not a guarantee of household usage.
The Bosch listing gives 38 dB, compared with 40 dBA for the Samsung RF50C510ES9/EU. In a quiet open-plan room, the lower Bosch figure may be preferable. Refrigerators cycle, fans run at different times and installation surfaces can affect perceived sound, so treat a two-unit difference as useful context rather than a promise that one will always sound quieter in your kitchen.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
For either brand, check the local warranty terms, authorised service coverage, delivery method, removal of packaging, door reversal or removal options, and whether connection of a water line is included. A multi-door refrigerator is heavy and difficult to manoeuvre; a low headline price can be less attractive if delivery is kerbside-only or installation is excluded.
There is no dated, independent head-to-head reliability test covering these exact Bosch Series 4 and Samsung multi-door families in the available evidence. It would be misleading to declare a reliability winner. Use the warranty length, service network in your area and the retailer’s repair process as concrete ownership criteria instead.
Which one should you buy?
Choose Bosch Series 4 KFN96APEAG when:
- Your kitchen and delivery route can accept a 905 mm-wide, 1830 mm-tall cabinet.
- You want the larger stated refrigerator and freezer capacities in the cited comparison.
- A dedicated VitaFresh XXL <0°C> drawer is more useful to you than app connectivity.
- You prefer to avoid a plumbed ice-maker installation.
- A lower listed noise figure is valuable in an open-plan room.
Choose Samsung RF50C510ES9/EU when:
- You need an 817 mm-wide cabinet and the narrower footprint determines what will fit.
- You want a plumbed automatic ice maker and already have, or can add, a suitable water connection.
- Twin Cooling Plus and No Frost match your preferred cooling setup.
- Wi-Fi and SmartThings support are genuine reasons to connect the appliance.
- The 331-litre refrigerator and 165-litre freezer split is sufficient for your shopping pattern.
When neither cited model is the right size
If the Bosch is too wide but the Samsung’s capacity is too small, compare other models by exact cabinet dimensions and energy-label data rather than switching brands automatically. Samsung’s RF65DG960 demonstrates that a larger model can reach 912 mm wide, while Bosch’s related specifications show that suffixes can change capacity and energy figures. Model code, region and label are more reliable identifiers than “Series 4” or “multi-door” alone.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Measure the full route from delivery vehicle to final position, including the narrowest doorway and every turn.
- Measure the installed recess and note wall, island, worktop and skirting-board positions.
- Confirm door-swing, drawer-extension and ventilation requirements for the exact suffix with the retailer or manufacturer.
- Decide whether you genuinely need automatic ice and arrange a compatible water connection before delivery if you select Samsung.
- Read the exact regional energy label for annual kWh and noise; do not substitute the related Bosch KFN96VPEAA figures for KFN96APEAG.
- Check whether the quoted capacity is gross or net and compare refrigerator and freezer compartments separately.
- Confirm current stock, delivery method, installation, old-appliance removal, warranty and local service coverage.
- Keep the model code and energy-label photograph with your purchase records in case the retailer lists a similar suffix.
Verdict
For a roomy kitchen and a household that values maximum stated storage with a dedicated freshness drawer, the Bosch Series 4 KFN96APEAG is the stronger fit. For a narrower kitchen—or for anyone who specifically wants plumbed automatic ice, Twin Cooling Plus and SmartThings—the Samsung RF50C510ES9/EU is the more suitable choice. Compare the exact regional labels and installation requirements before ordering: these models are different sizes and feature packages, not interchangeable versions of the same refrigerator.
