There is no single winner. Choose the BOOX Note Air6 C if you need color PDFs, broad file support, Android-style app flexibility and side-by-side research. Choose the Kindle Scribe (2024 release) if your priority is Kindle books and handwritten notes in one Amazon-centered device. Choose the reMarkable Paper Pro if you want the most focused, paper-like writing environment and can accept a more closed software ecosystem.
The important distinction is not just screen color. Reading services, document support, note organization, software openness, display size and distraction level will affect your daily experience more than any one specification.

BOOX Note Air6 C: the flexible ePaper tablet
BOOX describes the Note Air6 C as a “10.3-inch color ePaper notebook.” Its feature set is aimed at people who read, annotate, write and gather information in the same session. The device has front-light controls and a Notes workflow, so it can serve as both a notebook and a document reader in changing light.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A BOOX announcement dated September 15, 2026 describes a 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 color E Ink display, a 4nm octa-core processor, an included BOOX Pen3 and Dual Notes for viewing two documents side by side. The current product page should be treated as the authority for the feature wording you see when buying; the announcement is useful for launch context.
The practical advantage is openness. You can work with a wider range of files and use a more app-like workflow than on a dedicated Kindle or reMarkable. That makes the Note Air6 C the strongest fit for academic papers, technical manuals, color diagrams and professional research that moves between several documents.
The cost of that flexibility is configuration. You may need to choose reading apps, tune refresh and front-light settings, organize files yourself and learn more menus. Continuous front-light use, high brightness and color-heavy activity also consume more power, so endurance depends heavily on how you configure and use it.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Kindle Scribe (2024 release): the Amazon-centered reader with a pen
Amazon identifies this model as “Kindle Scribe – 2024 release.” It includes a Premium Pen for handwritten notes, a touchscreen, USB-C charging, an adjustable screen light and 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
This model is for readers who want the least friction between a large Kindle reading screen and handwriting. Books purchased through the Kindle store, supported documents and notebooks live in an ecosystem many Kindle owners already understand. If most of your reading is inside Kindle and your notes are personal annotations, the Scribe can feel more appliance-like than the BOOX.
Generation matters. Amazon lists a Kindle Scribe (3rd Generation) released in 2025 and a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft released in 2025 as separate products. The 2024 release is the monochrome Scribe; do not assume that specifications or color features advertised for a later Colorsoft model apply to it.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The trade-off is a narrower software and file environment. It is less open than the BOOX for general apps and unusual document workflows. It is also not the choice for readers who specifically need color highlighting or color diagrams on the 2024 device.

reMarkable Paper Pro: the dedicated digital notebook
reMarkable Paper Pro uses an 11.8-inch Canvas Color display based on E Ink Gallery 3. The listed dimensions are 274.1 × 196.6 × 5.1 mm. It charges through USB-C and is specified for up to two weeks of battery life.
The Paper Pro is built around handwriting, sketching, meeting notes and a low-distraction workspace. Its larger canvas gives diagrams and handwritten pages more room than a 10.3-inch device, while the notebook-first interface avoids the app-management decisions you face on a general-purpose tablet.
That focus is also its principal limitation. The operating system is intentionally closed, and its reading and app ecosystem is narrower than BOOX’s. It suits people who want a digital replacement for paper rather than a general ePaper computer. Your final cost also depends on the Marker and folio bundle you select, so compare the complete package rather than the tablet alone.
Display, color and reading experience
Color is useful only when your material needs it
The Note Air6 C and Paper Pro are color-capable. Color can separate annotations, make charts legible and preserve the meaning of illustrated PDFs. It is particularly useful for textbooks, journals, engineering diagrams, maps and documents in which colored markup carries information.
Color does not automatically make a screen better for novels or ordinary black-and-white documents. A monochrome page can remain easier to evaluate at a glance, and a color-capable device still requires you to manage front-light and refresh settings for the result you want.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

Do not confuse the 2024 Scribe with Colorsoft products
The 2024 Kindle Scribe should be evaluated as the monochrome model identified by Amazon, with its adjustable screen light and pen. Amazon’s later Colorsoft Scribe products are separate devices. If color reading is a requirement, confirm the exact model name, release year and display description on the listing before purchase.
Display size and portability
The Paper Pro has the largest stated display at 11.8 inches. The Note Air6 C is 10.3 inches. The Scribe is a large-format Kindle, but the supplied specifications identify its storage, pen, lighting and ports rather than a comparable diagonal measurement here. A larger canvas helps with full-page PDFs and handwriting; a smaller footprint can be easier to carry and hold for long reading sessions.
Manufacturer battery figures are not directly comparable. Paper Pro’s “up to two weeks” is a manufacturer claim, while BOOX explicitly notes that front-light and color use affect consumption. The supplied specifications do not establish a standardized battery result for the Kindle Scribe or a laboratory comparison across the three.

Reading ecosystems and file handling
| Question | BOOX Note Air6 C | Kindle Scribe (2024) | reMarkable Paper Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best match for Kindle books | Possible through a flexible software environment, but not the native focus | Yes; Kindle reading is the central ecosystem | Not the primary strength |
| General app and file flexibility | Strongest of the three | More restricted and Amazon-centered | Intentionally limited |
| Color documents | Yes | Not on the 2024 monochrome release | Yes |
| Best for a distraction-free notebook | Requires configuration | Moderately focused, with Kindle services integrated | Strongest fit |
| Ideal document pattern | Mixed files, PDFs, research and multitasking | Kindle books plus supported personal documents and notes | Notes, sketches and document-focused reading |
Choose the platform that matches where your documents already live. A person with a large Kindle library may value direct synchronization more than broad app support. Someone who receives PDFs from several organizations may prefer BOOX’s flexibility. Someone whose files are mostly notebooks and annotated documents may prefer reMarkable’s focused structure.
Writing, pens and note organization
BOOX: a configurable notes workflow
BOOX positions Notes as a writing-focused feature rather than an afterthought. Dual Notes, described in the September 2026 announcement, allows two documents side by side. That is useful when transcribing a source, comparing drafts or keeping a reference PDF visible while writing.
The included BOOX Pen3 gives you a ready-to-use stylus, but the wider software environment means you should expect more choices about templates, folders, exports and document apps. That is an advantage for an organized power user and a burden for anyone who wants every decision made automatically.

Kindle Scribe: straightforward handwriting beside Kindle reading
The 2024 Scribe includes the Premium Pen, so the basic handwriting experience does not require a separate stylus purchase. Its strongest workflow is simple: read a Kindle title or supported document, create or open a notebook, write with the pen and keep the material in the same Amazon account environment.
This simplicity is valuable for personal notes, reading reflections and meeting notes when you already use Kindle. It is less suitable when your workflow depends on third-party apps, extensive file reshaping or color-coded PDF markup.
Paper Pro: the most notebook-like approach
Paper Pro’s value is the absence of distractions. It is designed to make a blank page, pen and notebook organization the center of the experience. That suits handwriting practice, meeting minutes, journaling and sketches where opening a general app store would be a liability rather than a benefit.
The narrower operating system means you should check your export, synchronization and document requirements before buying. If you need a broad reading catalog or many specialist apps, its focused design can become a restriction.

Choose Kindle Scribe (2024) if your library is already on Kindle
The Scribe is the sensible choice when Kindle books are your main reading material and you want handwriting without leaving that ecosystem. The included Premium Pen, adjustable light, USB-C and 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage cover the core hardware needs.
Buy it only after confirming that the listing says “2024 release.” Do not select it expecting color; Amazon’s later third-generation and Colorsoft products are separate generations.
Choose Paper Pro if writing matters more than apps
Paper Pro is the clearest choice for people who want a calm digital notebook for handwritten pages, sketches and meetings. Its 11.8-inch Canvas Color display gives generous space, and the listed 5.1 mm thickness and USB-C charging keep the hardware notebook-like.

Buying checklist
- Name the exact generation. For Amazon, verify “Kindle Scribe – 2024 release” rather than a 2025 third-generation or Colorsoft listing.
- Identify your dominant documents. Kindle books favor the Scribe; mixed or color PDFs favor BOOX; notebooks and sketches favor Paper Pro.
- Decide whether color is essential. If yes, remove the monochrome 2024 Scribe from your shortlist.
- Check software tolerance. Choose BOOX if you are comfortable tuning settings and managing apps; choose Paper Pro if fewer choices are preferable.
- Price the complete bundle. Check the included or optional pen and folio, especially for Paper Pro. Confirm the seller, storage tier, region, stock and current price immediately before ordering.
- Plan your lighting use. Front-light brightness and continuous color use affect BOOX endurance; do not treat manufacturer battery claims as a standardized comparison.
- Confirm export needs. If your notes must move into a particular app or file system, verify that workflow before purchase rather than assuming all three notebooks behave alike.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
Buying the wrong Kindle generation
Search results can mix the 2024 Scribe with the 2025 third-generation and Colorsoft models. Read the full product title and confirm the release year. A color feature shown for Colorsoft is not evidence that the 2024 Scribe has a color display.
Comparing battery claims as if they were laboratory results
Paper Pro’s up-to-two-week figure is a manufacturer estimate. BOOX endurance changes with front-light brightness, color activity and other settings. There is no supplied standardized test that ranks all three, so choose based on your usage pattern rather than a single headline number.
Assuming every ePaper notebook handles files the same way
BOOX is the flexibility-oriented option, Kindle is tightly integrated with Amazon services, and reMarkable is intentionally focused. A device that is excellent for Kindle books may be inconvenient for a specialist PDF workflow; a device that accepts many apps may feel unnecessarily complex for a person who only wants handwriting.
Ignoring accessory costs
The Scribe includes its Premium Pen. BOOX’s launch announcement identifies an included BOOX Pen3. Paper Pro pricing depends partly on the Marker and folio bundle. Compare like-for-like packages, including the stylus and protective cover you actually need.
Final recommendation by reader type
| If you are… | Best choice |
|---|---|
| A student or professional annotating color-heavy PDFs and switching among sources | BOOX Note Air6 C |
| A Kindle customer who wants handwriting in the same account and does not need color | Kindle Scribe (2024 release) |
| A writer, artist or meeting participant seeking a quiet digital paper replacement | reMarkable Paper Pro |
| Unsure and prioritizing broad capability over simplicity | BOOX Note Air6 C |
| Unsure and prioritizing the fewest distractions | reMarkable Paper Pro |
The BOOX Note Air6 C is the strongest all-round recommendation for readers who need color, documents and flexibility. The Kindle Scribe (2024 release) is the better ecosystem choice for Kindle-first readers. The reMarkable Paper Pro is the better focused notebook for handwriting and sketching. Your best purchase is the one whose software boundaries match your routine, not the one with the longest specification list.
