Visible is the better default for heavy-data users, while Boost Mobile is the better value when the lowest advertised monthly price matters most. Visible’s higher tiers include unlimited premium data, taxes and fees, and defined hotspot and roaming benefits. Boost’s $25 Forever plan costs less, but Boost says high-speed data may be slowed after 30GB. The right choice still depends on which network works reliably at your home, workplace and regular travel destinations.

This comparison uses the carriers’ current 2026 plan disclosures. Prices, promotions, network policies and device availability can change, so confirm the terms shown at checkout.

Quick comparison

Plan Advertised price High-speed or premium data Hotspot International benefits
Boost $25 Forever $25 monthly with AutoPay; $30 without AutoPay Boost says speeds may be lowered after 30GB of high-speed data; its published example says speeds may fall to 512kbps Not stated in the cited plan details Not stated in the cited plan details
Boost Global Connection $40 with AutoPay 40GB of premium data Not stated in the cited plan details Global talk and text plus 1GB of international roaming
Boost Unlimited+ $50 with AutoPay 40GB of premium data Included Not fully specified in the cited plan details
Boost Unlimited Premium $60 with AutoPay 50GB of premium data Included North America Connect
Visible+ $35 monthly, with taxes and fees included Unlimited premium data on Verizon 5G and 4G LTE Unlimited data at up to 10Mbps 2GB per day of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico, plus one Global Pass day each month
Visible+ Pro $45 monthly, with taxes and fees included Unlimited premium data Up to 15Mbps 500 international long-distance minutes to more than 85 countries and texting to more than 200 countries

Boost’s prices in this table are the carrier’s current AutoPay or advertised rates. Visible’s prices come from its 2026 broadband-facts disclosure and include taxes and fees. “Premium data” describes the data allowance before a carrier’s stated prioritization or quality-of-service threshold; it does not guarantee a particular speed in every location.

What each carrier actually offers

Boost Mobile’s $25 Forever plan

The $25 Forever plan is Boost’s price leader. The advertised price requires AutoPay; without AutoPay, the listed monthly price is $30. Boost’s plan page says that after 30GB of high-speed, premium data, speeds may be lowered for the rest of the billing cycle. The same page gives a possible reduced speed of 512kbps.

#1 Best Overall
$30/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data for 3 Months (3-in-1 SIM Card)
  • WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk, text, and data delivered on the nation's largest 5G network. Data speeds may slow after 50GB when network is busy but data is unlimited. Videos stream at 480p.
  • OH, YOU GET THIS TOO: 5G for Free + free mobile hotspot + Wi-Fi calling and text + free international calls to Mexico and Canada
  • HOW YOU GET IT: The SIM Kit comes with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes standard/micro/nano sizes, insert the SIM into your device, and activate on the Mint Mobile website or app. You can activate service on your own unlocked device with our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. Check your coverage and phone compatibility on the Mint Mobile website.
  • WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
  • WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT: Mint Mobile took what’s wrong with wireless and made it right. We re-imagined the wireless shopping experience and made it easy and online.

That makes the plan a strong fit for light and moderate users who want the smallest recurring bill and do not routinely stream, hotspot or download large files after using roughly 30GB. It is a less comfortable choice for a household’s primary data connection, for frequent video streaming away from Wi-Fi, or for anyone who wants a plan with no published threshold.

Boost also lists a 30-day money-back guarantee on the plan page. Read the current eligibility and return conditions before relying on that guarantee, particularly if you are bringing a device or number from another carrier.

Boost’s higher tiers

Boost Global Connection costs $40 with AutoPay and pairs 40GB of premium data with global talk and text and 1GB of international roaming. It is the most internationally oriented Boost option in the cited lineup, but 1GB of roaming is a limited allowance for heavy navigation, photo backup or video use.

Unlimited+ costs $50 with AutoPay and includes 40GB of premium data and hotspot service. Unlimited Premium costs $60 with AutoPay, raises the premium-data allowance to 50GB, includes hotspot service and adds North America Connect. The cited plan information does not specify a hotspot speed for these Boost tiers, so do not assume that their hotspot experience matches Visible’s published speed limits.

Boost’s higher prices can make sense when global calling, roaming, North American benefits or device-financing options are more important than the lowest monthly bill. They are not automatically better for data-heavy use: each of these plans still has a stated premium-data allowance rather than the unlimited premium data advertised on Visible+ and Visible+ Pro.

Visible+ and Visible+ Pro

Visible+ is listed at $35 per month and Visible+ Pro at $45 per month. Visible’s broadband-facts disclosure says both prices include taxes and fees, and both plans are sold without a contract.

Rank #2
Ultra Mobile 8GB Prepaid SIM Kit, 1-Month Plan on the T-Mobile 5G Network | Unlimited calling to 90+ international destinations, U.S. talk, global text, hotspot, Wi-Fi Calling, keep your phone & number
  • STAY CONNECTED WORLDWIDE: Unlimited calling from the U.S. to 90+ international destinations including India, Mexico, Canada, China, the U.K. and more.
  • RELIABLE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE: Enjoy 8GB of high-speed 5G/4G LTE data on the T-Mobile 5G Network.
  • TRAVEL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA: Unlimited talk and text in Mexico and Canada plus international roaming credit.
  • BRING YOUR OWN PHONE: Activate your compatible unlocked phone with the included 3-in-1 SIM card or eSIM. Keep your number or get a new one.
  • NO CONTRACTS: Prepaid wireless with no annual contracts, no credit checks, and no hidden fees.

Both tiers advertise unlimited premium data on Verizon’s 5G and 4G LTE networks. Visible+ includes unlimited hotspot data at speeds up to 10Mbps. Visible+ Pro raises the stated hotspot limit to 15Mbps and adds international calling and texting allowances described in the table above.

Visible’s plan page describes the service as powered by Verizon, including access to Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, 5G and 4G LTE networks. That gives Visible a clear network identity, whereas Boost uses its own network and partner networks. Neither statement proves which service will be strongest at your address.

Coverage: the network on your street matters more than the logo

Visible relies on Verizon’s network. Boost uses a combination of its own facilities and partner networks, so the available network can vary by location and plan. National coverage claims are useful for narrowing your choices, but they cannot predict indoor reception, performance in a particular apartment, or service along your commute.

Before switching, check both carriers at the places where you spend time:

  • Your home, including the rooms where you make calls and use data.
  • Your workplace, school or regular client sites.
  • Your commute and frequently used roads or rail routes.
  • Family homes, vacation destinations and international locations you visit.
  • Busy venues where networks can become harder to use even when a map shows coverage.

Ask people who use each network in those exact places, and use a carrier’s current coverage tool or trial process when available. A carrier that is excellent across a city can still have a dead zone inside one building. Coverage should be your first filter; price and plan features matter only after the network is usable where you need it.

Data priority and the “unlimited” question

Does Boost slow down after 30GB?

Boost’s answer is yes for the basic Unlimited plan: its current plan page says, “If you use more than 30 GB of high speed, premium data, your speeds may be lowered to 512kbps.” Boost’s Open Internet Transparency disclosure adds that Boost and its network partners reserve the right to deprioritize or reduce a customer’s speed for the remainder of the billing cycle after the applicable quality-of-service threshold.

Rank #3
$15/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with 6GB of 5G-4G LTE Data + Unlimited Talk & Text for 3 Months (3-in-1 SIM Card)
  • We recently increased high-speed data allotments on every plan (but kept the same low pricing)! You may see a 5GB sticker on the front of your 6GB SIM Kit, rest assured your plan will have all 6GB of data loaded each month.
  • WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk and text + 6GB of 5G-4G LTE data each month delivered on the nation's largest 5G network.

The practical result is predictable: a user who stays below the threshold may find the $25 plan attractive, while a user who regularly exceeds it should budget for reduced speeds until the next billing cycle. Boost’s higher tiers provide larger premium-data allowances, but the cited details do not describe them as unlimited premium data.

Does Visible slow down after 50GB?

Visible+ and Visible+ Pro advertise unlimited premium data, and the cited plan materials do not publish a 50GB cutoff or a similar monthly prioritization threshold for those plans. That is the major advantage for people who routinely use large amounts of data.

“Unlimited premium data” is not a promise of a fixed speed. Visible publishes typical download ranges rather than guarantees: the base Visible label is listed at 20–148Mbps on 5G and 4G LTE, while Visible+ and Visible+ Pro are listed at 35–148Mbps on 5G and 4G LTE and 163–622Mbps on 5G Ultra Wideband. Actual results depend on coverage, signal, device, network conditions and the connection available at that moment.

Tom’s Guide’s 2026 prepaid-carrier roundup names Visible+ its best prepaid unlimited-data plan at $35 and describes Boost’s basic plan as $25 with a 30GB high-speed cap. That assessment aligns with the core trade-off, but your local coverage check remains more important than any national ranking.

Hotspot: an important difference for laptops and tablets

Visible publishes a clear hotspot policy. Visible+ provides unlimited hotspot data at up to 10Mbps; Visible+ Pro raises the limit to 15Mbps. Those caps are fast enough for web work, email, document editing, standard-definition video and many video calls, but they are not equivalent to uncapped phone data or a fixed broadband connection. Several high-bandwidth devices sharing one hotspot can still feel constrained.

Boost includes hotspot on Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium, but the cited plan details do not state a hotspot speed or a separate hotspot allowance. The $25 Forever and Global Connection details supplied here do not specify hotspot inclusion. Confirm the exact hotspot terms on the current plan page if tethering is a deciding feature.

Tello Mobile - US Prepaid SIM Card (3 in 1) | Bring Your Own Phone Kit | Phone Plans Starting at $5/mo up to $25/mo | Nation-Wide 4G LTE/5G Coverage
  • NO CONTRACT: Pay $5 - $25/month for a fully customizable phone plan - choose your talk, text, and data with no strings attached; upgrade, downgrade or cancel your plan anytime with no penalties
  • UNIVERSAL SIM CARD INCLUDED: The kit contains one three-in-one SIM card (nano, micro, and standard sizes) to fit most unlocked GSM-compatible smartphones
  • NATIONWIDE 5G COVERAGE: Stay connected coast to coast with nationwide coverage on America's largest 5G network
  • INTERNATIONAL CALLS TO 60+ COUNTRIES: All Tello plans include international calling to over 60 countries
  • EASY ACTIVATION: Bring your own phone and activate your SIM on the Tello website; check your phone compatibility and coverage maps before purchasing to confirm service in your area

If hotspot is occasional, either carrier may work once coverage is confirmed. If hotspot is central to your work, compare the stated speed limit, whether hotspot data is separately capped, and how much premium data remains after phone use. Visible is easier to evaluate because its hotspot speeds are disclosed; Boost requires closer inspection of the current plan terms.

International calling and roaming

Boost

Boost Global Connection combines global talk and text with 1GB of international roaming. Unlimited Premium includes North America Connect. Boost’s plan names and allowances distinguish international calling from roaming data: calling and texting benefits do not automatically provide large amounts of mobile data abroad.

For a short trip where you mainly need messaging, maps and occasional browsing, 1GB may be workable with Wi-Fi and careful background-data settings. It can disappear quickly with video, photo uploads or automatic cloud backups. Check the destinations covered by North America Connect and the current roaming rules before departure.

Visible

Visible+ includes 2GB per day of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico and one Global Pass day each month. Visible+ Pro includes 500 international long-distance minutes to more than 85 countries and texting to more than 200 countries. These benefits serve different use cases: Canada/Mexico roaming addresses travel in those countries, while the Pro calling and texting allowances address calls from the United States to other countries.

If you travel broadly, neither carrier’s headline benefit should be treated as universal roaming. Verify the destination, data allowance, validity period and overage behavior for the exact country you will visit. A plan with international calling can still require a separate solution for substantial roaming data.

Taxes, AutoPay and the real monthly cost

Boost’s entry price is conditional: the $25 Forever rate requires AutoPay, and the listed non-AutoPay price is $30. The cited Boost figures are advertised monthly prices, so confirm whether any taxes, fees, device payments or optional add-ons appear separately at checkout.

  • How does it work: The SIM Kit includes a 3-in-1 SIM card (standard, micro, and nano sim card) to fit all SIM Devices. Also it supports eSIM activation on Apple, Google, Samsung devices.
  • eSIM: During activation, you can choose to use your physical SIM or switch to eSIM. The eSIM is available on iPhone 11 and newer models, Google Pixel 2 and higher, and compatible Samsung devices.

Visible’s broadband-facts disclosure lists $35 for Visible+ and $45 for Visible+ Pro with taxes and fees included. That makes the advertised figure easier to compare with a final bill, although a device purchase or other optional charge can still change what you pay overall.

When comparing a year of service, calculate the price under the payment method you will actually keep. A lower AutoPay rate is not a saving if you routinely cancel AutoPay, and a higher plan can be cheaper in practice if it prevents separate roaming purchases or a second connection for hotspot use.

Which carrier fits your usage?

Choose Boost’s $25 Forever plan when:

  • Your priority is the lowest advertised recurring price.
  • Your typical monthly use stays comfortably below the plan’s 30GB high-speed threshold.
  • You use Wi-Fi for most streaming, large downloads and software updates.
  • You have confirmed that Boost’s available network works at your important locations.

Choose a higher Boost tier when:

  • Global calling, roaming or North American benefits matter more than the lowest bill.
  • You need hotspot service listed on the plan.
  • You prefer Boost’s device-financing options or existing account ecosystem.
  • You understand the premium-data allowance and how a threshold could affect your usage.

Choose Visible+ when:

  • Verizon coverage is strongest where you live, work and travel.
  • You want unlimited premium data without a published 50GB-style cutoff.
  • Unlimited hotspot at up to 10Mbps meets your needs.
  • You frequently travel in Canada or Mexico and can work within the daily high-speed allowance.

Choose Visible+ Pro when:

  • You want the faster published hotspot limit.
  • You need international long-distance calling to many countries and broad international texting.
  • You use enough data that a Boost premium-data allowance could become a constraint.
  • The Pro international benefits match the countries and calling patterns you actually use.

A step-by-step way to decide before switching

  1. Map your real coverage. Check both services at home, work, along your commute and at your most frequent travel destinations. Test indoors, not only outdoors.
  2. Review the last three months of data use. Look at cellular data rather than total Wi-Fi usage. If your usage regularly approaches or exceeds 30GB, treat Boost’s entry-plan threshold as a meaningful limitation.
  3. Separate phone data from hotspot data. Estimate how much data your laptop, tablet or streaming device uses. Then compare Visible’s published hotspot limits with the exact Boost allowance shown for the plan you are considering.
  4. List international tasks separately. Decide whether you need calls from the United States, texting, roaming data in Canada or Mexico, or broader travel coverage. Match the benefit to the task instead of choosing a plan merely because it says “international.”
  5. Compare the bill you will actually pay. Include AutoPay requirements, taxes and fees, device payments and any add-ons. Boost’s headline entry price and Visible’s tax-inclusive disclosure are not presented on identical terms.
  6. Confirm your phone and number-transfer requirements. Use the carrier’s current compatibility and transfer checks before placing an order. Keep your existing service active until the number transfer completes, unless the carrier explicitly tells you otherwise.
  7. Use the available testing or guarantee period carefully. Boost lists a 30-day money-back guarantee for its plan. Read its current conditions and test the service in every location that matters before abandoning your previous option.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Choosing by national coverage claims alone. Network performance can change from one building or neighborhood to the next.
  • Ignoring the AutoPay condition. The lowest Boost price is tied to AutoPay; Visible’s disclosed prices include taxes and fees.
  • Treating “unlimited” as unlimited speed. Boost’s entry plan has a stated high-speed threshold, while Visible’s unlimited premium data still does not guarantee a fixed download rate.
  • Assuming hotspot is the same as on-device data. Visible publishes 10Mbps and 15Mbps hotspot limits by tier. Boost’s cited details require you to verify the allowance and speed for the chosen plan.
  • Confusing international calling with roaming. A calling allowance does not automatically provide substantial mobile data abroad.
  • Overlooking plan changes. Prices, promotions, network-management policies and device inventories can change. Recheck the current terms when you order and before an international trip.

Verdict

For most people who use a lot of mobile data, Visible+ is the stronger default: it combines unlimited premium data, a tax-inclusive $35 price, defined hotspot service and useful Canada/Mexico roaming. Visible+ Pro is the more capable choice when you need the faster hotspot limit or broader international calling and texting.

Boost remains compelling when the lowest monthly price is the main objective. Its $25 Forever plan can be excellent for a moderate-data user who has strong Boost coverage and stays below the 30GB high-speed threshold. Boost’s $40, $50 and $60 tiers become more attractive when global communication, roaming, North American benefits or device financing outweigh the value of Visible’s unlimited premium data.

Check coverage first, then match your actual data, hotspot and international usage to the plan’s stated limits. That process is more reliable than choosing solely from a national price comparison.
