Nothing is permanently missable in Boltgun 2. The 100% Guides checklist says all 174 Secrets and all 33 Purity Seals can be collected later through the Level Select menu, and both categories count toward trophies and achievements. The important exception is campaign structure: choosing one branch locks the other branch for that playthrough, so seeing every route requires a second campaign.
How many Secrets and Purity Seals are in Boltgun 2?
The completion checklist published by 100% Guides in 2026 divides collectible progress into two categories. Secrets are hidden discoveries placed throughout missions, while Purity Seals are the more consistently placed collectible category.

| Collectible | Total | Completion requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Secrets | 174 | Counts toward trophies and achievements |
| Purity Seals | 33 | One in every level; counts toward trophies and achievements |
The totals are global campaign totals, not a target that must be completed in one uninterrupted run. A mission’s completion counter and the Level Select menu are the practical tools for finding what remains.

Can you go back for missed secrets?
Yes. The guide’s documented rule is: “Nothing is missable, and everything can be collected through the Level Select menu.” That means a Secret or Purity Seal you overlook during a first visit remains recoverable after the campaign has advanced.

For the recovery to be useful, replay the relevant mission and finish it rather than quitting immediately after touching the collectible. Completing the level gives the game an opportunity to save the updated collectible state and completion counter. If a collectible still appears absent afterward, return to Level Select and check the mission’s counter before replaying another chapter.
What “not missable” does and does not mean
- You do not need to restart an entire campaign because one hidden item was overlooked.
- You can clean up Secrets and Seals after completing the story missions in which they appear.
- Route-exclusive missions are a separate issue: they are unavailable until you choose that branch in another campaign.
How to use Level Select for cleanup
Boltgun 2’s cleanup process is menu-driven rather than dependent on a special new-game-plus mode. Use this sequence whenever the campaign is complete or you want to revisit an earlier mission:
- Open the game’s Level Select menu.
- Choose the completed mission whose counter is short of the expected total.
- Replay the level while checking side rooms, vertical routes and interactable objects.
- Collect the missing Secret or Purity Seal.
- Finish the mission so the updated completion state is recorded.
- Return to Level Select and verify that the counter now reflects the pickup before moving on.
The checklist’s wording establishes the availability of this recovery method, but it does not specify a universal button prompt or a separate “save collectible” command. If the counter does not change, completing the level is the first corrective step; then verify that you replayed the exact mission rather than a similarly named branch.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDo campaign choices require another playthrough?
Yes, when you want the branch you did not choose. Boltgun 2 uses route splits identified in the checklist as paths such as Path A and Path B. Once you select one route during a campaign, the missions belonging to the other route remain locked for that campaign.

Starting another campaign and selecting the alternate path unlocks those missions. After they have been opened, the missions can be replayed through Level Select, allowing later collectible cleanup without repeatedly replaying the entire second campaign.
Why a second run can contain more collectibles
Windows Central reports that alternating chapters can be selected only once per playthrough and may unlock secret optional chapters containing additional hidden collectibles. Consequently, a player pursuing every collectible should treat route completion as part of the 100-percent plan, not merely as a story choice. A first-run counter cannot reveal items in a branch that has never been unlocked.
A practical completion plan
You can approach the campaign in several ways, but the following order minimizes unnecessary repetition while preserving freedom to explore.
| Stage | What to do | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| First campaign | Choose either branch and collect items that are convenient. | You learn the environments without turning every room into a prolonged search. |
| Second campaign | Select the alternate branch and play far enough to unlock its exclusive missions. | The previously locked route and any associated optional chapters become available. |
| Cleanup | Use Level Select and each mission’s completion counter to revisit gaps in Secrets and Purity Seals. | Cleanup is isolated to the missions that still show incomplete progress. |
This plan is not a requirement. A meticulous player can search each first-run mission thoroughly, while a speed-focused player can finish both routes first and perform one concentrated cleanup pass afterward.

Where are Secrets usually hidden?
The level entries in the 100% Guides checklist show recurring environmental patterns. A Secret may be concealed behind a destructible wall, beneath a platform, inside a side room, behind a switch or on an elevated ledge. These are search patterns, not guarantees that every level uses all of them.
Examples from documented levels
- “Welcome To The Wilds”: inspect the waterfall area and look for a destructible cave wall.
- “Festering Bog”: check behind boxes for a hidden switch.
- “Munitions Mayhem”: investigate skull-triggered doors that open access to concealed areas.
The examples are route-specific and are not a substitute for a complete level checklist. They illustrate how the game rewards players who test suspicious walls, examine spaces below the main path and revisit scenery that looks deliberately interactive.
A repeatable search routine
- Clear the obvious combat route first so enemies do not interrupt a careful search.
- Walk the perimeter of each arena, checking corners and narrow side passages.
- Look above and below the main route; elevated ledges and spaces under platforms are common hiding places.
- Test destructible-looking surfaces and inspect objects that could conceal a switch.
- When an unusual symbol, skull mechanism or isolated door appears, search the surrounding room before leaving.
- Use the mission counter after finishing the level to decide whether another pass is necessary.
How the automap and Navigation Guide help
The official announcement says the new automap tracks explored areas and remaining objectives. It is therefore useful for identifying portions of a mission that you have not physically entered and for separating ordinary backtracking from genuinely unexplored space.
The Navigation Guide points toward the next objective. Use it when the main route is unclear, then temporarily stop following it when you are ready to search: a Secret is often placed away from the direct objective path. In practice, the two tools serve different purposes. The automap shows where you have been and what remains; the Navigation Guide helps you regain the story route when exploration has taken you off course.

Limits of map-based searching
An explored map does not automatically prove that every room contains no collectible. A player can pass through a room without noticing a destructible wall, a switch behind cover or a ledge reached from an unusual angle. Treat the automap as a coverage check, then use the mission checklist and completion counter to verify the result.
What if a mission or branch is still locked?
First determine whether the lock is a route lock or a normal progression lock. A route lock means you selected the other branch in the current campaign; it cannot be solved by replaying earlier missions. Start another campaign, choose the alternate path, and progress until the route’s missions are opened. Once unlocked, they become available for replay through Level Select.
If the mission belongs to the branch you already chose but remains unavailable, continue the campaign until the relevant story progression is complete. The available information confirms the branch behavior and later Level Select access, but it does not document a universal unlock point or a separate manual-unlock setting.

Answers to the most common progression questions
Do Secrets and Purity Seals count for achievements?
Yes. The 100% Guides checklist states that both the 174 Secrets and the 33 Purity Seals count toward trophies and achievements.
Can I collect a missed item after beating the game?
Yes. Select the relevant completed mission, collect the item, and finish the level so the completion state is recorded.
Do I need two campaigns for every collectible?
You need another campaign only for content on the branch you did not choose. Once that route is unlocked, its missions can be replayed through Level Select for cleanup.
Should I follow the Navigation Guide while hunting Secrets?
Use it to recover the main objective route, but search away from that route when hunting collectibles. The automap is better for checking unexplored areas; neither tool replaces the mission counter or a detailed checklist.
Is there a physical copy to buy?
Auroch Digital’s FAQ says the release is digital-only and that no physical version was planned at the time of publication.
