Then repeat the Secret’s complete trigger sequence, collect the reward until the second SECRET DISCOVERED message appears, finish the level, and let the result save. If you used Level Select, load your campaign save before continuing; the game can otherwise restore the wrong save state. Auroch Digital’s FAQ, updated 16 October 2026, also documents ongoing bugs and provides the official reporting route when a full replay does not work.
Use this recovery order first
Most registration problems can be separated into five checks. Work through them in order, because each check rules out a different cause without risking more confusion in your save.

- Identify the counter. Secrets and Purity Seals are separate collectibles. A missing Seal will not reduce the Secret count, and a missing Secret will not reduce the Seal count.
- Confirm the mission and branch. Collectible totals belong to the specific operation and campaign route you are playing.
- Repeat the trigger, not merely the pickup location. Some Secrets require a key, switch, shootable panel or other mechanism before the reward appears.
- Collect the actual reward. Wait for the confirmation message, rather than assuming that entering the room or touching an earlier object completed the Secret.
- Finish the replay. Complete the level after collecting the item so the progression result is written to the campaign record.
If the counter is still wrong after those steps, correct the save context, then report the issue through Auroch Digital’s official bug-report form.
Check whether the missing item is a Secret or a Purity Seal
The game tracks these categories independently. Before searching a level again, open its collectible information and compare the two counters separately. The figures below apply to the “There Is Only War” branch and are the published targets for that route.

These totals are useful for spotting a category mix-up. For example, a player who has found all 17 Secrets in this branch can still be missing one of the three Purity Seals. Conversely, a complete Seal count does not prove that every Secret registered. Do not use the combined number as a substitute for the two individual counters.
Reproduce the Secret’s full trigger sequence
A Secret is not always awarded simply because you reached the correct room. The game may require an interaction that changes the room first, followed by collection of a newly revealed enhancement or item. Repeating only the final pickup can therefore leave the counter unchanged.

- Use the red key.
- Shoot the high wall switch.
- Enter the compartment that lowers after the switch is activated.
- Collect the green weapon enhancement inside.
- Wait for the second SECRET DISCOVERED confirmation.
The second confirmation matters. The first message or an earlier room event may indicate that part of the sequence has been recognized, while the reward pickup completes the Secret. Stay in the area long enough to verify that the final message appears before moving on or quitting.
What to verify in any other mission
- Whether a key had to be used at a console, door or mechanism before the collectible became available.
- Whether a switch, panel or wall had to be shot rather than merely approached.
- Whether a compartment, platform or passage changed state after the interaction.
- Whether the actual reward item was collected after that change.
- Whether the game displayed its final SECRET DISCOVERED message.
If you cannot identify one of those events in a replay, assume the trigger has not completed yet. Search the room again for an unactivated mechanism instead of treating the visible location as proof that the Secret was awarded.
Replay a missed Secret so progression is committed
When an item was missed on the original run, replaying the mission is the supported recovery method. The important detail is that touching the collectible is not enough by itself: complete the level again after collecting it.

- Finish or exit the current activity normally so you are back at the game’s menu flow.
- Open Level Select.
- Choose the specific mission that contains the missing Secret.
- Run the entire trigger sequence, including any key, switch or shootable panel.
- Collect the reward and wait for the final SECRET DISCOVERED confirmation.
- Continue through the rest of the mission and complete the level.
- Return to the mission or campaign progress screen and check the individual Secret counter.
Current progression guidance warns that merely touching a collectible during a replay may not update the campaign record. Treat the completed level as part of the collection process, not as an optional extra. If the counter changes only after returning to the menu, allow that transition to finish before closing the game.

Avoid the Continue and Level Select save trap
Auroch Digital’s known-bug guidance describes a specific save-context problem: after entering a mission through Level Select, choosing Continue can load the last Level Select save instead of the campaign save. That can make a successful collection appear to vanish or put you back into the wrong progression state.
Use the campaign save after a Level Select run
- Do not press Continue automatically after using Level Select.
- Quit back to the main menu.
- Open Load Level, or the menu option that lists saved campaigns.
- Select the campaign save you were using before the Level Select replay.
- Check the mission counter from that campaign context.
Restarting the game has helped some players according to the FAQ, but it is not a guaranteed repair. The essential distinction is which save you load: a Level Select replay and the active campaign can represent different progression contexts.

How to recognize the trap
- The item appeared to register during the replay, but the campaign counter reverted after selecting Continue.
- The game returns you to a recent Level Select position rather than your normal campaign location.
- Your mission state looks older than the run in which you collected the Secret.
When any of these symptoms appears, repeat the collection only after loading the intended campaign save. Otherwise, you may be testing the wrong record repeatedly.

Collectible lists are branch-specific. The 17-Secret, three-Seal totals above describe the “There Is Only War” branch; an alternate operation can have a different list and different expected totals. A counter that seems short is not automatically evidence of a registration failure if the mission belongs to another route.
Before replaying, verify the operation name shown in the level menu and compare it with the branch in which you originally played it. Record the number shown for Secrets and the number shown for Seals separately. If the mission name or route differs, use that route’s own target rather than carrying the “There Is Only War” figures across to it.
Account for the known “The Trenches” final-purge issue
The official FAQ also lists a final-purge issue in The Trenches and says a hotfix is planned. The FAQ is marked “Known Bugs and Fixes – Updated 16th October 2026,” but patch status can change. Check the current FAQ before treating any dated fix statement as still current.
This issue is distinct from a missed trigger or a wrong save. If you have completed the documented Secret sequence, collected the reward, finished the mission and loaded the correct campaign save, a problem associated with the mission’s final purge may require a game update rather than another identical search. Do not assume that repeating the same route will resolve a defect that the developer has already listed.
Use a symptom-to-action checklist

What to include in an official bug report
Auroch Digital asks players who encounter a bug in the full version of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 to use its short bug-report form. The FAQ also lists Discord and email contact routes. A precise report gives support a reproducible state instead of only saying that a collectible is missing.

- The mission name and campaign branch.
- Whether the attempt was made in normal campaign flow or through Level Select.
- The separate Secret and Purity Seal counters before and after the replay.
- The exact trigger sequence you performed, including keys, switches, panels or wall shots.
- Whether the reward appeared and whether one or two SECRET DISCOVERED confirmations were displayed.
- Whether you completed the level afterward.
- Which menu path you used when loading the save after the replay.
- Your platform and game build, if shown by the game.
- A video or screenshots showing the trigger, confirmation and counter when available.
Do not describe a save as corrupted unless you can establish that independently. The available guidance identifies registration and save-selection bugs, but it does not confirm the condition of any individual player’s save file.
When to stop searching and report the problem
Stop treating the issue as a hidden-room hunt once you have verified the correct counter and branch, performed every known trigger interaction, collected the reward with the final confirmation, completed the mission, and checked the intended campaign save. At that point, further searching may only repeat a registration failure. Use the official report route and mention whether the mission is The Trenches, because its final-purge issue is specifically listed in the FAQ.
Keep the fix current
Bug guidance is time-sensitive. The FAQ’s 16 October 2026 update confirms that Auroch Digital is tracking issues reported through its form and the Steam forums, including the Level Select/Continue save problem and the planned The Trenches hotfix. Recheck that FAQ immediately before applying a dated workaround: a later patch may change the behavior, menu wording or recommended recovery sequence.
