Neither Bluehost nor GoDaddy is a clear winner for every hosting buyer. Bluehost has a specific WordPress.org endorsement, while GoDaddy’s UK managed WordPress page details maintenance features such as daily backups and automatic updates. Those facts do not establish which host is faster, more reliable in practice, or cheaper for a US customer. Choose by the plan you actually need and compare matching checkout totals, including renewal and add-on costs.
Bluehost vs GoDaddy at a glance
| Question | Bluehost | GoDaddy |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress.org standing | Listed by WordPress.org as its longest-running recommended host; this is not a measured comparison with GoDaddy. | Not identified as a recommended host in the cited WordPress.org directory. |
| Uptime statement | Bluehost states a 99.99% shared-hosting SLA, with a limited credit remedy for qualifying claims. | GoDaddy states a 99.9% uptime guarantee for Managed Hosting for WordPress. |
| Maintenance details in reviewed product material | Bluehost advertises a free WordPress migration tool. Verify the selected plan’s included features at checkout. | The reviewed UK page describes WordPress preinstallation, automatic updates, daily backups and security features, with some features varying by tier. |
| Price comparison | Promotional pricing is for the first term; renewal rates vary and are shown at checkout. | The reviewed prices are UK first-year promotions in pounds, not US quotes. |
For WordPress-specific context, WordPress.org’s hosting directory describes Bluehost as its longest-running recommended host. That listing is useful as a shortlist signal, not proof that Bluehost outperforms GoDaddy in speed, uptime or value.
What the uptime promises mean
Bluehost says shared hosting has a 99.99% SLA based on server and Apache performance. Its policy describes a single 5% monthly credit claim if qualifying uptime falls below that commitment, with the claim made within 30 days. These are Bluehost’s own contractual statements, not results from an independent uptime monitor. See Bluehost’s hosting policy and product page.
GoDaddy’s UK product page states a 99.9% uptime guarantee for Managed Hosting for WordPress. That is also a provider statement, and it applies to a different named service with different terms. The percentages alone do not establish which provider’s customers experience fewer outages or which remedy is more useful. Read each service’s applicable terms before relying on a guarantee.

Compare features at the plan level
GoDaddy’s managed WordPress details
GoDaddy’s reviewed UK page lists WordPress preinstallation, automatic updates, daily automated backups with 30-day retention, security features and free SSL. It also describes a free-domain offer and tier-specific storage, staging and optimization features. These claims refer to that UK product page; availability and inclusions may differ by market and plan. Check the specific tier and checkout summary on GoDaddy’s UK Managed Hosting for WordPress page.
Bluehost’s migration and plan details
Bluehost advertises a free WordPress migration tool. Its comparison page is vendor-authored, so treat favorable comparisons there as Bluehost’s own claims rather than independent testing. Confirm what the chosen hosting plan includes—such as backup, security, staging and support terms—rather than assuming a feature applies to every tier. Bluehost’s comparison page labels its data as of March 2026, but it does not provide a substantiated, comparable US renewal-price pair.

How to compare the real cost
The available figures do not support a fair current US price winner. Bluehost says promotional pricing applies to the initial term and renewal rates vary; the reviewed GoDaddy page is UK-market and lists first-year prices in pounds. Do not compare a US Bluehost offer with those UK prices, or treat an introductory rate as the ongoing cost.
- Open the US checkout pages for both providers on the same day and select the same billing duration and comparable hosting type.
- Record the introductory total and the renewal total separately, confirming the renewal term and rate shown before purchase.
- Add the domain’s renewal cost, applicable tax, paid security options, email charges and any other selected add-ons.
- Compare the totals for the full billing term, then check which features are included in the exact plan rather than in a higher tier.
Bluehost’s official page describes a first-year free-domain offer and a 30-day refund policy with conditions and exclusions. Review those terms and confirm whether the domain remains chargeable or is treated differently if you cancel; a free first-year registration does not establish the cost of keeping the domain in later years. GoDaddy’s reviewed UK page also advertises a free-domain offer, but its regional offer should not be assumed to apply to a US purchase.

Which host should you choose?
Consider Bluehost if WordPress.org listing matters to you
Bluehost is a reasonable candidate for a WordPress shortlist if you value WordPress.org’s current directory listing or want to use its advertised migration tool. Neither fact replaces checking the selected plan’s limits, support terms and total renewal cost.
Consider GoDaddy if bundled maintenance matches your needs
The reviewed GoDaddy UK page may appeal if automatic updates, daily backups and managed WordPress features are priorities. Verify the storage, staging and optimization features on the tier you would buy, and confirm that the same inclusions are available in your country.
For larger or more demanding sites, verify limits before committing
If you need multiple sites, advanced staging, e-commerce capacity or support for high traffic, compare each plan’s actual limits and support terms. The reviewed sources do not establish a provider-wide performance winner, so do not choose on speed claims alone.
