Compare courier stocks by business scope, same-period financials, cash needs, network economics and valuation—not by headline revenue alone. Blue Dart’s FY2025–26 result gives a useful starting point, but companies such as Delhivery and TCI include activities that extend well beyond express parcels. Define the peer group first, rebuild comparable numbers from filings, and treat the result as an analytical comparison rather than a buy or sell recommendation.
Start by defining what “courier stocks” means
A courier comparison can become misleading when a focused express-delivery company is placed beside a diversified logistics group. The companies may serve some of the same customers, yet earn revenue from different services, use different assets and carry different operating risks.

Focused express delivery
Blue Dart is the clearest example in this comparison. Its disclosures centre on express logistics, including air and surface express. That makes shipment density, delivery-network utilisation, service mix and yield per shipment especially important to an investor’s analysis.

Delhivery’s FY2024–25 annual report describes a pan-India network serving 18,833 PIN codes as of March 31, 2025. It also reports activities beyond express parcel delivery, including part-truckload (PTL), supply-chain services, truckload and cross-border services. Its total revenue therefore represents a broader collection of logistics activities than a narrow courier figure.

Diversified logistics groups
TCI can be used as a broader logistics comparator, but it is not a pure courier peer. Its annual report covers a wider logistics operating model. A comparison with TCI may help assess transport and logistics-cycle exposure, but it should not be presented as an apples-to-apples express-parcel benchmark.
| Company | How to classify it for analysis | Main comparability warning |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Dart | Focused express-delivery business | Compare express economics, air/surface mix and shipment profitability rather than assuming all logistics revenue is equivalent. |
| Delhivery | Parcel platform with additional logistics businesses | PTL, supply chain, truckload and cross-border services broaden the revenue and cost base. |
| TCI | Diversified logistics comparator | Its wider business scope means group margins, capital intensity and cycle sensitivity may differ materially from a courier operator. |
Put the reported figures on the correct timeline
Before calculating a growth rate or valuation multiple, place every figure beside its fiscal period, accounting perimeter and publication date. The available figures span three different periods, so they must not be blended into a same-year league table.
| Figure | Period and source | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| ₹6,141 crore revenue from operations | Blue Dart FY2025–26, year ended March 31, 2026; official results announcement | Use as Blue Dart’s latest stated full-year revenue in this comparison. |
| ₹240 crore profit after tax | Blue Dart FY2025–26, year ended March 31, 2026; official results announcement | Use with the same-year revenue to derive a simple PAT margin, while checking the full filing for exceptional items and accounting perimeter. |
| ₹5,720 crore revenue from operations | Blue Dart FY2024–25 | Use as the prior-year base for Blue Dart’s reported revenue change. |
| ₹57,201.80 million revenue from operations | Blue Dart FY2024, SEBI-hosted prospectus | Use only for the older prospectus-era peer benchmark. |
| ₹89,319.01 million revenue from operations | Delhivery FY2024, SEBI-hosted prospectus | Use only against the Blue Dart FY2024 figure; it is not a current FY2025–26 comparison. |
Blue Dart’s revenue rose from ₹5,720 crore in FY2024–25 to ₹6,141 crore in FY2025–26. The arithmetic increase is about 7.36%, calculated from the two reported figures. That growth rate describes revenue movement, not shareholder return, valuation performance or superior business quality. A company can grow revenue while margins, cash conversion, dilution, leverage or the share price move in the opposite direction.

The prospectus figures are expressed in millions: ₹57,201.80 million equals ₹5,720.18 crore, while ₹89,319.01 million equals ₹8,931.901 crore. They belong to FY2024 and should remain labelled as an older benchmark. Do not compare Delhivery’s FY2024 prospectus number with Blue Dart’s FY2025–26 result and call the difference a current market-share or performance gap.
Compare business mix before comparing growth
Make a segment map for every company before looking at consolidated revenue. Record which activities are included, whether they are reported separately and whether an acquisition or restructuring changed the perimeter.

Express parcel and shipment services
For a focused courier peer, examine domestic express, international or cross-border express, air express and surface express separately when the filing permits. Ask whether a reported increase came from more shipments, higher prices, a heavier premium mix or fuel and surcharge recovery.
PTL, truckload and supply-chain services
Delhivery’s reported PTL, truckload and supply-chain businesses have different asset requirements and pricing dynamics from parcel delivery. A higher group growth rate could reflect expansion in one of these lines rather than acceleration in express parcels. Compare both total revenue and the segment that actually matches Blue Dart’s activity.

Read the notes on acquisitions, subsidiaries, disposals and changes in segment presentation. Separate organic growth from acquired growth whenever management provides that split. If the company does not provide a clean split, mark the limitation rather than treating the entire increase as like-for-like operating progress.
Measure growth with volume, price and mix
Revenue growth is only the first layer. Build a bridge that asks what happened to shipment count, average revenue per shipment, customer mix and service mix.
- Shipment volume: Check the fiscal period, geography and whether the number covers parcels, consignments, pieces or another unit.
- Yield: Divide relevant revenue by the company’s stated shipment measure only when the numerator and denominator use compatible definitions.
- Mix: Identify the contribution of premium, time-definite, surface, air, cross-border, B2B and e-commerce work.
- Organic versus acquired growth: Reconcile the reported change with acquisitions, new contracts and discontinued activities.
- Seasonality: Compare the same quarters or full years; a quarter containing a major festive or e-commerce peak is not directly comparable with a quiet quarter.
The SEBI-hosted prospectus specifically notes that Blue Dart and Delhivery use different shipment-count conventions. That warning matters: dividing each company’s revenue by its reported shipment number can produce a false yield comparison if one counts shipments and the other counts pieces or uses another unit. Quote the company’s definition beside every volume figure in your spreadsheet.

Compare profitability on one accounting basis
Use consolidated figures for all companies or standalone figures for all companies; do not mix them. Then compare the income statement from revenue through operating profit and net income.

| Metric | Calculation | Question it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Operating margin | Operating profit ÷ revenue | How much operating income remains after the stated operating costs? |
| EBITDA margin | EBITDA ÷ revenue | How does operating profitability compare before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation? |
| Net margin | Profit after tax ÷ revenue | What reaches the bottom line after financing, tax and non-operating items? |
| Incremental margin | Change in operating profit ÷ change in revenue | Did new revenue carry through at a higher or lower margin? |
From Blue Dart’s FY2025–26 figures, ₹240 crore of PAT divided by ₹6,141 crore of revenue gives an approximate 3.91% PAT margin. This is a calculation from the reported full-year figures, not a forecast. Confirm whether exceptional items, tax credits, foreign-exchange movements or other non-recurring entries affected PAT before using it to compare earnings quality.
Check whether each company presents EBITDA with a different definition, especially around lease costs, stock-based compensation, gains on asset sales or restructuring. Reconcile management’s adjusted measure to the audited statement. A higher adjusted margin is not automatically better if the adjustments remove recurring costs.
Follow the cash, capital expenditure and balance sheet
Courier networks can require vehicles, hubs, sorting equipment, technology, aircraft capacity, leased facilities and working capital. Revenue alone cannot show whether a company is converting growth into cash or repeatedly reinvesting to maintain service capacity.
- Operating cash flow: Compare cash generated from operations with EBITDA and PAT. Investigate persistent gaps caused by receivables, payables, customer advances or other working-capital movements.
- Capital expenditure: Separate maintenance spending from expansion where the filing allows. Track additions to hubs, sorting systems, vehicles, technology and other network assets.
- Leases: Review right-of-use assets and lease liabilities. A largely leased network can have lower reported owned assets but substantial contractual payments.
- Debt and interest: Check gross debt, cash, net debt, maturities, interest expense and covenant terms. Compare leverage with a consistent definition.
- Working capital: Examine receivable days, payable days, contract assets and customer deposits. Fast growth funded by receivables can consume cash even when the income statement looks strong.
Air and surface mix, facility ownership and outsourcing can change capital needs. Do not infer that one company is more capital-efficient simply because it reports higher revenue per employee or per facility; the operating model may place assets and costs in different categories.

Assess network and service capability without treating claims as independent tests
Network disclosures help explain reach and capacity, but they are company-reported descriptions rather than independent service-quality testing. Delhivery’s statement that it served 18,833 PIN codes on March 31, 2025 is a useful scale indicator. It does not, by itself, establish delivery speed, reliability, profitability per code or customer satisfaction.
Coverage and density
Record PIN-code coverage, hubs, gateways, sorting centres, vehicles, aircraft access and stated daily capacity when disclosed. Then ask whether growth is increasing density in existing lanes or adding expensive new coverage.
Service quality and resilience
Look for disclosed service-level measures, claims, losses, refunds, disruptions and contingency arrangements. Avoid replacing absent independent testing with assumptions based on brand familiarity. A broad network can still produce uneven economics across routes and customer categories.
Utilisation
Capacity is valuable only when used. Compare volume per facility, route density, load factors or other utilisation measures only when definitions are consistent. If a company does not disclose a metric, record it as not stated rather than estimating it from unrelated totals.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMap customer and sector exposure
Demand risk differs depending on whether shipments come from e-commerce marketplaces, online merchants, traditional businesses, manufacturers, financial institutions, government or other sectors. Blue Dart’s FY2025–26 announcement links momentum to e-commerce and B2B surface express. Treat that as management’s explanation of the year’s performance, not as an independently verified causal estimate.
Best Value
For each peer, examine customer concentration, contract duration, pricing mechanisms, fuel-surcharge recovery and exposure to discretionary consumption. A company with faster e-commerce growth may also face intense pricing pressure. A B2B-heavy operator may have steadier contractual volumes but greater exposure to industrial production and business cycles.
Use valuation only after normalising earnings
Valuation is meaningful only when the numerator, denominator and price date match. Compare companies using share prices from the same trading date and the latest available financial period, then state whether the multiple uses reported or adjusted earnings.
| Multiple | Use carefully |
|---|---|
| Price-to-earnings | Check one-off gains, tax effects, negative or unusually low earnings and diluted shares. |
| Enterprise value to EBITDA | Use a consistent debt, cash and lease treatment; reconcile differing EBITDA definitions. |
| Price-to-sales | Useful when margins are volatile, but it ignores business mix, cash needs and the ability to turn sales into profit. |
| Free-cash-flow yield | Define capital expenditure consistently and investigate whether working-capital movements are sustainable. |
No current, same-date market prices or verified valuation table are established here. Do not insert stale multiples from an older article. Build the valuation sheet from the chosen exchange close, the latest filings and a documented share-count method. Compare the multiple with growth quality, margin durability, cash conversion, leverage and business scope rather than ranking the cheapest number in isolation.
Common comparison errors and how to correct them
- Mixing fiscal years: Label every column with the exact year ended date. Rebuild the comparison when one company reports a later year.
- Calling a broad logistics group a courier pure play: Show segment revenue and explain the scope difference before discussing multiples.
- Using shipment counts without definitions: Copy the company’s unit definition and reconcile parcels, consignments and pieces.
- Mixing standalone and consolidated accounts: Choose one basis and apply it to every peer.
- Ignoring one-offs: Read exceptional-item, tax and other-income notes before calculating normalised margins.
- Equating revenue growth with shareholder return: Add margin, cash-flow, dilution, debt and valuation analysis.
- Repeating network marketing claims as service tests: Identify the disclosure as company-reported and avoid unsupported reliability conclusions.
- Using market-share figures without methodology: Require an original source, date, geography and definition; otherwise leave market share out.
A repeatable worksheet for comparing Blue Dart with peers
- Set the universe: Create separate tabs for focused express companies, parcel platforms with adjacent logistics and diversified logistics groups.
- Lock the period: Select one fiscal year and the latest quarter available for every company. Record the year-ended date.
- Copy reported data: Enter revenue, shipment volume, operating profit, EBITDA, PAT, operating cash flow, capital expenditure, leases, debt and cash exactly as disclosed.
- Map definitions: Add notes for shipment units, segment boundaries, consolidated or standalone basis, adjusted EBITDA and exceptional items.
- Separate growth drivers: Split volume, price, mix, acquisitions and currency where management provides the information.
- Calculate comparable ratios: Use consistent formulas for margins, cash conversion, leverage, revenue per shipment and valuation.
- Stress-test assumptions: Model weaker volume, lower yield, higher fuel or wage costs, slower receivables and additional network investment.
- Write the conclusion by category: State which company has the clearest disclosure, strongest cash conversion, most resilient margins or greatest balance-sheet risk. Do not collapse those separate judgments into an unsupported buy or sell call.
How to interpret Blue Dart’s latest result in context
Blue Dart reported FY2025–26 revenue from operations of ₹6,141 crore and PAT of ₹240 crore, compared with ₹5,720 crore of revenue in FY2024–25. Management described the year as “a year of focused execution and resilient performance” amid global uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and changing market conditions. The same announcement linked momentum to e-commerce and B2B surface express. Those are management’s characterisations and explanations; they should be tested against the audited income statement, segment notes, cash flow and subsequent filings.
The result supports a focused set of questions: Did shipment growth keep pace with revenue? Did operating and net margins expand or contract? Was operating cash flow close to PAT? How much was reinvested in the network, and what lease or debt obligations accompanied that investment? Are e-commerce and B2B trends broad-based or concentrated among a few customers? The answers determine whether the reported revenue increase represents durable operating progress.
What a fair peer conclusion looks like
A defensible comparison may conclude that Blue Dart offers a more focused express profile, while Delhivery provides broader parcel and logistics exposure and TCI represents a still wider logistics mix. It may also find that one company grows faster but converts less revenue into cash, or that another has steadier margins but less comparable disclosure. Those are analytical findings, not automatic investment recommendations.
Keep the final scorecard explicit: business scope, same-period growth, shipment and yield definitions, operating and net margins, cash conversion, capital intensity, leverage, network capability, customer exposure and valuation at a common date. If a number is not disclosed on a comparable basis, mark it “not stated” and explain why. That discipline is more useful than a single ranking built from mismatched headline figures.
