Tips for a first playthrough
Choose a clan for the experience you want
Think about your preferred approach before choosing. The Steam tips guide characterizes Nosferatu as a challenge choice and recommends Malkavian for a later replay, when its unusual dialogue may reveal twists in a different light. Other clans offer different combat, supernatural-power, or social strengths; the sources do not provide a full ranked comparison, so there is no single best clan for everyone.
Explore hubs and talk to people
Side quests can be easy to miss if you rush through a hub. Visit locations such as nightclubs and speak with the people you meet. Develop useful skills beyond fighting
Lockpicking and computer hacking open options that a combat-only build may miss. The Steam guide notes that Bloodbuff can temporarily help with lockpicking and Auspex can help with hacking. Persuasion and stealth can also provide alternatives to direct confrontation, although neither replaces combat in every situation.
Prepare for fights and treat stealth practically
Social and stealth approaches will not carry every encounter, so invest in combat skills and training as well. The Steam guide observes that Sneaking skill can matter more than visual lighting in many situations. Treat that as practical advice from the guide, not a guarantee that lighting never affects detection.
