A report published on October 3, 2026, said Arkham Intelligence data showed Bitcoin holdings linked to BlackRock increased by a net $1.57 billion over the previous month. The report put the linked balance at 801,769 BTC, worth about $67.87 billion at the time. The $1.57 billion is the reported monthly addition—not the total holding—and the original dated Arkham record was not independently verified.
What the $1.57 billion figure means
U.Today attributed the monthly net-addition figure to Arkham Intelligence. It also reported a latest purchase of $195.6 million. These are figures attributed to Arkham by the article, not independently confirmed transaction or fund-flow calculations. A syndicated copy dated October 3, 2026 repeats the report, but republication does not independently corroborate it.

The same report described 300-BTC batches moving between a Coinbase hot wallet and an address Arkham linked to BlackRock. That is an attribution of wallet activity, not direct confirmation from BlackRock that it controls the address. Wallet movements alone do not show that BlackRock’s corporate treasury bought Bitcoin, nor do they establish why the movements occurred.

How the reported balance differs from IBIT’s net assets
The report’s 801,769 BTC balance and approximately $67.87 billion valuation are estimates attributed to Arkham. BlackRock’s iShares page separately listed IBIT net assets of $67,589,503,046 as of October 2, 2026. These figures describe different measures: one is a reported token balance and its estimated market value; the other is the fund’s net assets on a stated date. They should not be treated as directly interchangeable.

BlackRock describes the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) as a product that “seeks to reflect the performance of the price of bitcoin.” The issuer says an exchange-traded product can simplify the operational and custody complexities of holding Bitcoin directly. That product description is not a guarantee of exact tracking or an investment recommendation. BlackRock also cautions that displayed calculated holding values use third-party vendor pricing, which may differ from the price used to calculate net asset value.
What investors should—and should not—infer
- Do not confuse the monthly change with the total: $1.57 billion is the reported net increase over a month; 801,769 BTC is the report’s claimed total linked balance.
- Do not collapse the fund and its sponsor into one owner: IBIT is an exchange-traded Bitcoin exposure product. Fund assets, the sponsor, the fund’s investors, and BlackRock’s corporate treasury are distinct.
- Do not read wallet transfers as investor demand: The reported wallet movements do not by themselves establish ETF inflows, corporate purchases, or investor motives.
- Consider the product’s stated risks: BlackRock says IBIT is not an investment company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and is therefore not subject to the same regulatory requirements as funds registered under that act. The issuer advises investors to review the prospectus risk factors and other information before investing.
For the U.S. product, the issuer’s October 2026 page displayed a 0.25% sponsor fee. Fees and disclosures can change, so consult the current prospectus for applicable terms.

The original dated Arkham portfolio record and its methodology were not independently inspected, so the wallet linkage and reported figures remain attributed claims. BlackRock’s iShares IBIT page provides the issuer’s product description, dated net-assets figure, and risk disclosures. The October 3, 2026 syndicated copy repeats the report but is not independent validation.
