Its official trailer introduces smuggler Draga, a missing crew, a doomsday cult and a supernatural force changing him from within. The game is not yet available on Steam, and its release date is listed as “To be announced.”
What the official trailer introduces
Set in an alternate 1909, Black Tides: Draga’s Wake follows Draga, a hardened smuggler and pirate first mate whose final heist goes wrong. He is trapped aboard the colossal whaling steamship Ormora, locked in ice and overtaken by a doomsday cult—and something older. Draga searches the ship for his missing crew as an ancient god takes root in him.

The official site describes the wider world as “An alternate 1900s, where ancient gods and vessels of steam and steel meet in the same black water.” It also names Driftwood Bay, a frozen settlement lost in wind and fog. Draga is presented as a career thief and survivor, not a conventional hero; the story’s personal tension is what he was versus what he is becoming. What kind of game is Draga’s Wake?
Strange Creature Factory Ltd. describes the game as a third-person action horror experience built around exploration, close-quarters brawler combat and a transformation mechanic called the Vessel State. These are developer descriptions; they are not a substitute for hands-on gameplay impressions.

Absorb: progression through the dead
The developers say Draga can absorb the dead, influencing his skill tree, mutations and the fates of crewmates and survivors he encounters. The mechanic links progression to the story’s central question of how far Draga will change.
Confront: close combat and scarce resources
According to the Steam listing, combat combines dodging and heavy melee combos with quick-fire ranged attacks. Ammo, health and power are described as scarce, so the intended play mixes aggression with resource management rather than relying on unlimited firepower.

Explore: the Ormora and its surroundings
Exploration takes Draga through the ship’s compartments and the frozen setting around it. The studio’s three gameplay pillars are “Absorb,” “Confront” and “Explore.” The Vessel State is described as changing how Draga fights, moves and sees, tying the supernatural transformation to both navigation and combat.
Is Black Tides: Draga’s Wake available on Steam?
No. As of October 7, 2026, Steam says the game is “not yet available” and gives its planned release date as “To be announced.” There is no confirmed launch date to report. The store currently lists Strange Creature Factory Ltd. as developer and publisher, while the official site says the studio is seeking a publishing partner; that listing is not evidence of a third-party publishing deal.

The studio’s Steam announcement presents the trailer as its first official trailer reveal. It says an updated demo was being prepared for publishers while the team sought a deal, and that the team had been unfunded up to that point. These are the studio’s statements, not independently verified funding information. The same announcement reported the studio’s first 10,000 wishlists in 2026, a self-reported milestone rather than an audited count. See the Steam Community page for the studio’s announcements.

The Steam listing currently identifies a single-player Windows release and specifies 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Its system requirements are store-page specifications and may change before launch.

Steam currently lists 14 languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish, Ukrainian, Italian and Spanish (Spain). English has audio and subtitles checked; the other listed languages have interface and subtitle support, with no full-audio checkmark shown. Turkish is not among the languages currently listed, so its eventual availability is not established.

Steam’s mature-content notice warns of intense fantasy violence, graphic gore, blood, dismemberment and disturbing body horror. That content warning is a significant part of the game’s pitch, not just a general horror label. The trailer and store description are useful indicators for viewers deciding whether this kind of imagery is for them.
Who is making the game?
Black Tides: Draga’s Wake is being developed by Strange Creature Factory Ltd. The studio’s Steam announcement and creative director Greg J. Strangis’s ArtStation post both say the team was updating a demo for publishers and investors. Strangis described the project as one focused on using creature and character design as storytelling, rather than spectacle alone. The ArtStation post is available at Greg Strangis’s trailer post.
