Bitget’s verified full service shutdown applies to residents of France and the French Overseas Territories, not to every market where the exchange operates. India faced a different, narrower measure: new-user onboarding was paused, while existing verified users retained access under Bitget’s published FAQ.
What Bitget is discontinuing, and where
Bitget says it will discontinue all services for residents of France and the French Overseas Territories effective March 31, 2026, at UTC+2. The company attributes the decision to compliance work following the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

Bitget said it hopes to serve French users again through a compliant European Union platform after obtaining MiCA authorization and passporting. That statement is conditional: it does not provide a confirmed reopening date.

French customers should therefore not treat March 31 as a normal trading-day cutoff. Positions could be liquidated by the exchange, and pending orders would not survive the transition. Anyone affected should review balances, export transaction records and withdraw eligible assets before the relevant restrictions take effect.
What happens to assets left behind
Bitget said that unwithdrawn crypto-assets valued above 10 USDC after the French service deadline would be transferred to an authorized third-party platform. The notice says access through that platform would start on April 8. The published threshold is 10 USDC; it is not a promise that every balance, token or account feature will be handled identically, so users should read Bitget’s account notices for their specific holdings.

How India differs
Bitget’s separate India FAQ describes a narrower restriction. New-user onboarding stopped on February 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. India Standard Time (GMT+5:30). Users who had registered and completed verification before that cutoff could continue using the platform under the stated policy.

Can affected users still withdraw crypto?
For French residents, the practical answer depends on the deadline and account status. Bitget’s timetable allowed withdrawals before the final restriction, but the notice states that accounts would become restricted after March 31 and that remaining assets above 10 USDC would be transferred instead. Users should not wait for liquidation or an automatic transfer if they can lawfully withdraw their own funds earlier.

- Sign in through the official Bitget account interface and confirm whether the account is classified as French-resident.
- Cancel or close orders and positions before the applicable cutoff, rather than assuming they will remain open.
- Withdraw crypto to a wallet or another compliant platform, checking network, memo and minimum-withdrawal details for each asset.
- Save account statements, deposit and withdrawal records, trade history and tax documents.
- After April 8, check the authorized third-party platform named in Bitget’s account communications if assets were transferred automatically.
Indian users who were already registered and verified before the February 6 cutoff were told they could continue using core functions, including deposits, trading and withdrawals, under the FAQ. That policy does not extend automatically to new applicants or to residents of other jurisdictions.
Why Bitget can impose regional restrictions
Bitget’s Terms of Use, updated June 16, 2026, say the company may modify, suspend or discontinue any part or feature of its services. They also reserve the ability to restrict accounts when legal, regulatory, security or risk requirements apply. Those terms explain the contractual basis for regional changes, but the specific deadlines and asset-transfer arrangements come from the France notice and India FAQ.

What users elsewhere should take from this
- A restriction announced for one country should not be assumed to apply worldwide.
- “Existing users can continue” is jurisdiction-specific; it does not override a full service discontinuation such as France’s.
- Regulatory status, residency checks and verification records can determine whether an account remains usable.
- Keep a self-custody or alternative-platform plan and maintain downloadable records before a deadline arrives.
