Investing.com, citing Reuters, put BTC at $83,025.4 at 14:23 ET on October 10, 2026, within an intraday range of $82,537.7 to $83,164.1. That is a dated snapshot—not a live quote for October 13. U.S. inflation data was in focus, but CPI is only one of several factors investors watch.
What the reported Bitcoin price does—and does not—show
The October 10 Investing.com report, credited to Reuters, recorded Bitcoin at $83,025.4 at 14:23 ET. It reported an intraday range of $82,537.7–$83,164.1 and a decline of around 3% over the preceding week. Those figures do not verify either an $80,500 low or a rebound above $84,000.

Bitcoin trades continuously across venues, so a price claim needs a timestamp and a named source or exchange. A snapshot from October 10 cannot establish BTC’s price on October 13, and a range from one report should not be treated as a universal market high or low.

When was the next U.S. CPI report due?
An October 10 market report said September CPI and PPI reports were due the following week. FinanceFeeds, in an October 11 week-ahead article, gave October 14 as the September CPI release date. That date was reported by a secondary source and was not independently confirmed against the Bureau of Labor Statistics calendar here.

How inflation news can affect Bitcoin
Inflation data can shift expectations about interest rates and financial conditions, which may affect demand for risk-sensitive assets such as Bitcoin. But a market move around a data release does not, on its own, prove that the data caused the move; Treasury yields, investor positioning, fund flows and other news can also matter.

The October 1 move was linked to PCE, not CPI
CoinDesk reported that Bitcoin briefly moved above $85,000, reaching a reported high of $85,500, after softer-than-expected inflation data, before elevated Treasury yields erased much of the gain. Cointelegraph also described the advance after the PCE report reversing, with BTC remaining above $83,000. These accounts provide context for that episode, not evidence for the separate $80,500 dip and $84,000 rebound claim.

The inflation figures cited in those October 1 reports were for August personal consumption expenditures (PCE): 3.4% year over year for headline PCE and 3.0% for core PCE, as figures from the Bureau of Economic Analysis were reported by Cointelegraph. PCE is a different measure from the Consumer Price Index (CPI); these percentages are not CPI readings.

ETF flows are another data point, not a complete explanation
Investing.com reported, citing SoSoValue data, approximately $681.11 million in net outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs over October 5–9. That reported flow figure describes one period of fund activity; by itself, it does not explain Bitcoin’s price movement or establish what caused it.

How to assess a Bitcoin price headline around CPI
- Check the timestamp and venue. A quote without both can be stale or refer to a different market snapshot.
- Compare like with like. Check whether the claimed high, low and percentage change cover the same period and source.
- Identify the inflation measure. CPI and PCE are distinct indexes; also note the reference month and whether a figure is headline or core.
- Separate the event from the explanation. A price change near a release is an observed sequence, not proof that the release caused it.
- Look at other reported conditions. Treasury yields and ETF flows can add context, but neither alone establishes the reason for a move.
