How to choose the right width
Birkenstock’s US measurement template says most models are offered in regular and narrow widths. Trace your foot using the template: if the outline falls within the indicated narrow curve, the brand recommends narrow; if it falls outside the curve, it recommends regular.
You can also use Birkenstock’s US fit guide calculator, which takes length and width measurements for both feet and returns a size and width based on the brand’s size chart. Check each foot rather than assuming they are identical.

Check how your foot sits in the sandal
For Gizeh, Birkenstock’s fit guidance says the foot should remain within the footbed. If the toes or ball of the foot extend over the sides, the sandal is too narrow. The guidance gives approximate clearance of 5 mm at the heel and 10 mm at the toes, and about 10 mm between the upper strap and arch. These are the brand’s Gizeh-specific fit recommendations, not universal medical rules or evidence that Gizeh is narrower than Arizona.
Use the same practical check when trying either style: your foot should sit within the footbed without side overhang, and the straps should feel comfortable rather than pinching. Width labels alone cannot tell you whether a particular pair will suit your foot.

Arizona: two adjustable straps
The Arizona has two adjustable straps. That arrangement may appeal if you want to adjust the upper independently at two points or prefer not to have a strap between the toes. Whether it feels more comfortable depends on your foot and how the straps sit.
