Microsoft announced Bing’s Lyrics experience on October 3, 2014, promising full song lyrics directly on the search results page. The launch-era feature also surfaced artist, album, and related song information in Snapshot. This is a historical announcement, not confirmation that Bing still offers the same experience today.
What Bing announced
In its October 3, 2014 announcement, the Bing Team said users could view full lyrics on the mainline results page without first opening a third-party site. The announcement also said Bing would show artist, album, and other song-related information in Snapshot alongside the main results.

Bing described the feature as a way to find lyrics without having to guess which search result would provide good-quality text. Its initial catalog contained over half a million songs, and the company said it expected the list to grow in the coming weeks. That number describes the 2014 launch catalog, not its current size.
How the launch-era search worked
Contemporaneous coverage reported that the initial rollout was in the United States. Search Engine Land described a partial lyric preview with a “See more” link to reveal the full text, alongside song and artist information in Snapshot. Its account of the rollout and interface reflects 2014 reporting, not a guarantee of present-day behavior.
#1 Best Overall
- Enter a song title followed by “lyrics” in Bing. Windows Central used “my name is lyrics” as a historical example of the query format.
- For songs covered by the feature, the results page could show a lyric excerpt and a “See more” option for the full text.
- Look to Snapshot for related song and artist details; Microsoft’s announcement also named album information.
Microsoft’s announcement described viewing the full lyrics on Bing’s results page without clicking through to another site. Windows Central distinguished this from Cortana on Windows Phone at the time, which it said displayed only an initial portion of the lyrics.
Who supplied the lyrics?
Search Engine Land reported that Bing identified LyricFind as its lyrics source and told the publication that LyricFind’s license extended to Bing’s display. That licensing detail comes from the publication’s report of Bing’s statement, rather than Microsoft’s announcement post.

- Acid-free, archival-quality 120 gsm paper takes pen or pencil beautifully.
- Sturdy hardcover binding protects your work.
Search Engine Land also noted that some lyrics could be wrong. That was the outlet’s observation, not a published error rate or a quantified assessment.

The 2014 sources establish what Bing announced and how the launch was described at the time; they do not establish whether the feature remains available, which regions it serves, or how many songs it covers today. Treat current availability as unverified rather than assuming the old experience still works the same way.
