Squarespace is expanding its custom-domain email choices through an integration with Titan, the professional email provider led by Bhavin Turakhia. Customers can buy Essential Email by Titan from their Squarespace account, while Google Workspace remains the alternative for organizations that need a broader collaboration suite.
The important distinction is where the email runs: a Squarespace website or domain connection does not mean Squarespace hosts the mailbox. Squarespace states that email is hosted externally by Titan, even when the website and domain are managed there.

What the Titan–Squarespace partnership provides
Squarespace documents Titan as one of two integrations for creating a custom email address on a domain. The other is Google Workspace. Customers may also keep an existing custom-email provider instead of moving to either integrated option.

Email hosting is separate from website hosting
Buying a domain or building a site with Squarespace does not automatically include a hosted inbox. Squarespace’s Help Center explains: “Your email is always hosted externally, even though your site is hosted by Squarespace.” In practice, the website can remain on Squarespace while Titan stores and delivers the messages for the custom address.
This separation also means that changing website platforms does not necessarily require changing the mailbox provider. Conversely, moving a domain or altering its DNS can affect mail delivery, so domain and email changes should be planned separately.

What Essential Email by Titan includes
Squarespace’s Essential Email product page, accessed October 13, 2026, lists the following package:
| Included item | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Mailbox | Custom-domain inbox |
| Calendar | Included with the email account |
| Contacts | Included with the email account |
| Access | Web browser, plus Titan apps for iOS and Android |
| Displayed price | $3 per user per month |
| Billing | Managed through the Squarespace account; billed monthly on the product page |
| Migration | Existing email can be migrated using IMAP |
The $3 figure is a point-in-time price displayed by Squarespace and can change with plan, region, taxes, eligibility or billing terms. Check the checkout page before subscribing or quoting the price in a purchasing decision.
How setup works through Squarespace
Squarespace describes the integrated purchase and setup route as requiring “No technical setup required.” The account connection is handled from the Squarespace environment, and billing stays with Squarespace rather than a separate Titan subscription process.
That description applies to the integrated Essential Email flow. It should not be read as a guarantee that every domain situation is identical. Existing mail services, custom DNS records, domain transfers and unusual configurations may require additional review.

Moving an existing mailbox
If a domain already has email elsewhere, Squarespace says the existing account can be migrated using IMAP. IMAP migration is intended to copy mailbox data; it does not by itself decide when incoming mail starts going to Titan. Plan the cutover, verify the destination account and preserve access to the old provider until the migration has been checked.

When DNS records are relevant
Titan’s technical support documentation for Squarespace domains lists the MX hosts mx1.titan.email and mx2.titan.email, along with an SPF TXT record for Titan Mail. These instructions are relevant when records must be configured manually. They are separate from Squarespace’s claim that the integrated signup route needs no technical setup, so follow the instructions shown for the specific domain and account state.
Titan versus Google Workspace on Squarespace
Squarespace presents Google Workspace as the choice for customers who need more than hosted mail and basic personal productivity features. Its comparison emphasizes collaboration capabilities such as shared drives, video meetings, AI features and real-time co-authoring.
| Consideration | Essential Email by Titan | Google Workspace through Squarespace |
|---|---|---|
| Primary scope | Custom email with inbox, calendar and contacts | Email plus a broader collaboration and productivity suite |
| Displayed starting price | $3 per user per month on the page accessed October 13, 2026 | Starting at $7 per user per month on the same Squarespace page |
| Access described by Squarespace | Browser, Titan iOS app and Titan Android app | Google Workspace applications and services |
| Migration information | IMAP migration is listed | Migration requirements depend on the selected Google Workspace setup |
| Best fit indicated by the product positioning | A focused professional mailbox and associated contacts and calendar | Teams needing shared drives, meetings and real-time collaboration |
The prices are displayed Squarespace figures at that point in time, not permanent rate guarantees. The two services should be compared by required capabilities and account administration, not by price alone.
What this means for a Squarespace customer
- Launching a new address: Choose Essential Email by Titan from the Squarespace account when a mailbox, calendar and contacts meet the requirement.
- Running a team workspace: Consider the Google Workspace integration if shared files, video meetings, AI functions or simultaneous document editing are central to daily work.
- Keeping an existing provider: Squarespace says an existing custom-email service can remain in use; the website and domain association do not force an automatic move to Titan.
- Moving mail: Use the stated IMAP migration path, then verify folders, contacts, aliases and delivery before retiring the old service.
- Editing DNS: Apply Titan’s MX and SPF guidance only when the domain’s setup requires manual records, and avoid deleting unrelated records without checking their purpose.
Why the distinction matters
The partnership gives Squarespace customers a more direct route to professional email without implying that website hosting includes a mailbox. Titan supplies the external email infrastructure, while Squarespace provides the account-level purchase and billing experience for the integrated offer. Customers can therefore select a focused email product, choose Google Workspace for a wider collaboration stack, or retain another provider while continuing to host a site with Squarespace.
