Lovely Professional University (LPU) is hosting Bharat Innovation Challenge 2.0 for Indian school students in Classes 8–12, ages 13–18. Stage 1 is a free online presentation submission, and a working prototype is not required to enter. The key detail to verify before applying is the deadline: LPU and Devpost list conflicting dates.
Who can participate?
LPU’s guidance says participants must be school students in Classes 8–12, ages 13–18. The competition is open across India, and students from different schools may form a team. Colleges are not included in the stated eligibility.

LPU describes teams of two to five students with one mentor. Devpost’s rules page instead allows one to five students, also with a mandatory mentor. If you are considering a one-student entry or another edge case, confirm the team-size rule with LPU before registering. The organizer lists [email protected] and +91-9888598702 as challenge contacts.

How do students enter?
Stage 1: Submit a presentation online
Stage 1 requires an online PPT or PDF presentation under one theme. LPU says students may submit an idea, wireframe, mockup, sketch or concept presentation. A working prototype is encouraged, but it is not mandatory at this stage.
Rank #2
- Guide students toward a healthy lifestyle, both physically and financially
- This revised and expanded edition adds much more information on work ethic, nutrition, and exercise; updates the sections on sexually transmitted diseases and drugs; and includes completely new sections on preparing financially for the future
- Graphic organizers, self inventories, puzzles, real-life situations, and cloze activities provide creative opportunities for students to assess their own lifestyles and make good choices for the future
- Prepare students for adulthood
- Practical lessons to help handle real life events
LPU’s suggested presentation covers the problem and opportunity, gaps in existing solutions, the proposed solution and technology, a prototype or demonstration if available, target users and impact, implementation, feasibility, scalability, competitive advantage and the team’s vision. Use those points to explain not just what the idea is, but who it helps and how it could work.

Stage 2: Finalist pitch and exhibit
LPU says the top 100 teams advance to the finale. Finalists are expected to give a live pitch and exhibit their prototypes at the university’s Phagwara campus. LPU advises finalist teams to bring a working prototype, refined pitch deck and display materials.
What are the dates—and why should entrants confirm the deadline?
The dates currently displayed by LPU are online submissions from July 20 to October 10, 2026, with results on October 15. The finale is scheduled for November 20–21, 2026, at LPU in Phagwara, Punjab.
There is a deadline conflict: Devpost’s rules page gives September 30, 2026, as the submission deadline, while its header shows October 8 at midnight IST. The available event information does not explain the discrepancy. LPU’s page currently displays October 10, but entrants should confirm the cutoff directly with the organizer rather than relying on any one listing.
Rank #4
What does the finale provide, and what will finalists need?
LPU says finalist team members will receive accommodation, meals and local transportation. Its stated finale format includes live pitches, prototype exhibits and meetings with jurors. The guidance to bring a working prototype applies to finalist teams; it does not change the Stage 1 requirement for an online presentation.
What prizes and opportunities are advertised?
LPU and Devpost headline a prize pool of ₹14 lakh+ across 29 award categories. Listed cash awards include:
Best Value
| Award | Advertised amount |
|---|---|
| Grand Champion Team | ₹3,00,000 |
| First runner-up teams (two awards) | ₹2,00,000 each |
| Second runner-up teams (two awards) | ₹1,00,000 each |
| Best AI-Powered Solution | ₹50,000 |
| Best Prototype | ₹50,000 |
| Most Impactful Solution | ₹30,000 |
The organizer’s FAQ gives a different total—₹16 lakh+—while its headline and Devpost say ₹14 lakh+. Because the event information does not reconcile those totals, treat ₹14 lakh+ as the better-corroborated advertised figure and check the official award details for current terms.
LPU also advertises theme-wise and jury awards, certificates, mentorship, internships for winning teams, media exposure and a chance of funding. These are not all guaranteed outcomes: in particular, internships and funding are presented as opportunities, not assured benefits.
Is a working prototype or coding knowledge required?
No working prototype is required for Stage 1. LPU explicitly allows concept-level submissions and says a prototype is encouraged rather than mandatory. Its Stage 1 description does not establish coding knowledge as an entry requirement. A prototype becomes relevant to finalists preparing for the on-campus pitch and exhibit, so teams should plan around their project’s needs if selected.

LPU reports that Season 1 drew 2,600+ teams across 28 states and 500+ cities. These are the organizer’s retrospective figures, not independently verified participation counts.
