Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe beyerdynamic DT 275 PRO is a wired, closed, on-ear monitoring headphone for people who need reliable audio in loud places: video sets, live sound desks, side stages, DJ booths and field recording. On paper it is compact and light, rated at 195 g without cable and 22 dBA of ambient noise attenuation, and its detachable cable can lock into either earcup. This article assesses those published figures and the launch coverage from July 28, 2026. It is not a hands-on review. No listening, comfort, durability or isolation tests from an independent source were available, so nothing here says how the headphone sounds, feels after hours of wear, or blocks noise in a real venue.
What the DT 275 PRO is
beyerdynamic positions the DT 275 PRO as a compact monitoring headphone for video production, live sound, DJ cueing and mobile audio monitoring. It uses a dynamic driver in a closed, on-ear design, which means the earcups rest on the outer ear rather than surrounding it, and the closed back is meant to limit sound leaking in and out. The company’s launch release describes the product as a single answer to a problem its PRO Audio team sees often: professionals previously had to choose between strong isolation, neutral sound and a small, portable body. Martin Stahl, Director of PRO Audio Products at beyerdynamic, put it this way in the July 28, 2026 release:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
“The DT 275 PRO is a compact monitoring solution that excels in a variety of settings, including on set, at the FOH desk, on the side stage and in the DJ booth.” Stahl added that the headphone is designed to “provide reliable audio decisions even in challenging environments.”

Published specifications and what they mean for you
All figures below come from beyerdynamic’s launch material and product listings. None has been independently measured in the coverage reviewed.
| Specification | Published value | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Type and design | Wired, dynamic, closed, on-ear | Closed backs usually isolate better than open designs, but on-ear pads sit on the ear and seal differently from over-ear pads. |
| Frequency response | 5 Hz–24,000 Hz | A wide manufacturer-stated range. It says nothing about how even the response is across that range. |
| Nominal impedance | 45 ohms | Moderate impedance. Most phones, laptops and portable mixers will drive it, though a weak headphone output will leave it quieter than its sensitivity suggests. |
| Sensitivity | 105 dB SPL at 1 kHz / 1 mW; 119 dB SPL at 1 kHz / 1 Vrms | The two ratings use different drive measures. The 1 Vrms figure is the more relevant one for line-level sources such as mixers and DJ outputs. |
| Maximum SPL | 125 dB SPL | The loudest output stated by the manufacturer. The conditions of the measurement are not given in the launch material. |
| Total harmonic distortion | 0.04% at 500 Hz and 0.03% at 1 kHz, at 1 mW | Low figures at a low drive level. Distortion at high volume is not stated. |
| Maximum short-term power handling | 100 mW | Plugging into a powerful amplifier at high gain risks overloading the driver. Use a headphone output or a monitor amp with level control. |
| Ambient noise attenuation | 22 dBA (manufacturer figure) | A single weighted number from the manufacturer. See the isolation section below. |
| Weight without cable | 195 g | Light for a closed headphone. The weight with the cable fitted is not stated. |
| Cable | 1.5 m special detachable cable, coiled and straight versions per launch material | Length and format are enough for a seated monitoring position. Cable durability is not stated. |
| Connector | 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack, with a 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) adapter | Both common connector sizes are covered without extra purchases. |
Two points deserve emphasis. First, the impedance and sensitivity figures suggest the headphone is easy to drive, which is consistent with its portable purpose. Second, the 100 mW power-handling rating is the one number that should shape how you connect it, because it signals the driver’s tolerance rather than its volume.
Isolation: what 22 dBA does and does not tell you
The headline isolation figure is 22 dBA of ambient noise attenuation, published by beyerdynamic. The launch material does not describe the measurement method, the noise source, the fit or the position of the headphone during testing, and no independent measurement was found. A single dBA number is a weighted average across frequencies, so it can hide a lot: a headphone may block high-frequency chatter well and let low-frequency stage rumble through.
Rank #2
- 80-ohm all-rounder: sounds best from an audio interface or headphone amp; loud enough from most laptops.
- The tracking standard: closed-back isolation keeps the click and mix out of your mic while you record.
- Closed-back isolation: passive shielding for vocal booths, podcast desks, and loud rooms.
- Velour ear pads: replaceable grey velour and a spring-steel headband, built for years of daily sessions.
- In the box: DT 770 Pro (80 Ohm) with fixed 3m straight cable and 1/4-inch adapter. Made in Germany. Best from an interface or amp.
The figure is best read as a relative indicator for buyers comparing closed on-ear designs, not as a promise of silence. Real isolation depends on how well the pads seal on your head, on hair and glasses, on how the cable is routed, and on the kind of noise you face. A generator hum, a crowd roar and a stage monitor wedge do not behave the same way.
If isolation is the deciding factor for your work, test it in your own setting: play a known programme through the headphone at a comfortable level, note the level you need in a quiet room and in the noisy place, and check that speech stays intelligible in both.
Cable: routing, locking and compatibility
The official North American product page says the cable connects to either earcup and locks in place. That means you can route it to whichever side suits your mixer, camera or DJ setup, and the lock is intended to stop it pulling loose during use.
Rank #3
- 250-ohm studio impedance: designed for audio interfaces and headphone amps - it needs one for full volume; not ideal straight from a phone.
- The mixing reference: the open-back sound studios have trusted for decades, for honest mixes that translate everywhere.
- Open-back design: wide, natural stereo image so you hear placement and depth while mixing and mastering.
- Velour ear pads: soft, replaceable grey velour and a spring-steel headband stay comfortable through long sessions.
- In the box: DT 990 Pro with fixed 3m coiled cable and 1/4-inch adapter. Made in Germany. Pair it with a headphone amp or interface.
The same listing states that the detachable cable from the DJ 300 PRO X is compatible with the DT 275 PRO. That is the only cable compatibility claim the sources support. Do not assume other beyerdynamic cables or third-party cables will work, and check connector type and length before swapping cables.

How it fits different jobs
The manufacturer lists five target settings. For each, the questions below are the ones a hands-on test would need to answer.
- On set and video production: Can you hear dialogue clearly over generators, wind and crew noise? Does the cable route cleanly from a camera or recorder without tugging?
- FOH and live sound: Does the on-ear clamp hold the headphone steady over a long set? Is the sound clear enough for quick level and fault checks?
- Side stage: Does the closed design still allow you to follow cues when the stage is loud?
- DJ booth: Does the headphone stay comfortable on one ear while you cue tracks, and does the cable route away from the decks?
- Field recording and mobile monitoring: Is the 195 g weight still comfortable after hours on location, and does the compact body pack easily into the supplied drawstring bag?
Those questions are not answered by the launch material. They are the basis for judging whether the headphone suits a particular workflow.

Replaceable parts
beyerdynamic describes the cushion components and other spare parts as replaceable and reorderable. The launch material did not give part numbers or replacement prices, so budget for them only after checking the official product page or the regional beyerdynamic shop. For a headphone you may wear for long sessions, pads are the part most likely to need replacing, so confirm availability before you buy.
What is still unproven
- Speech intelligibility and transient response when monitoring live or recorded material
- Consistency of the on-ear seal across different head sizes, hair and glasses
- Isolation in real working environments, measured against the 22 dBA figure
- Clamp force and pad comfort during a long session
- Cable handling, locking performance and left/right routing over time
Until independent testing covers these points, the DT 275 PRO is a well-specified product on paper. Its launch coverage describes what the manufacturer intends, not how it performs in use.

Who should consider it
The DT 275 PRO fits a specific brief: a closed, light, portable headphone for professionals who move between noisy locations and need a monitor that connects to common sources and can be routed to either side. Its published specifications are consistent with that brief. If your work is mainly in a quiet studio, or if you need the strongest possible isolation, the published figures alone do not justify choosing it, and you should compare it with other headphones on the same evidence-based points: fit style, isolation approach, weight, cable flexibility, replaceable parts, impedance and price.
