Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

If keeping the cost down matters more, consider the Motorola Moto G (2026), but its display is a clear compromise. Neither an “unlocked” label nor a phone appearing in a global catalog guarantees that it will activate on your carrier or have U.S.-valid warranty coverage: check the exact model and IMEI before buying.
Which ZTE alternative makes sense for you?
| Priority | Phone | What the cited guide supports | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mainstream unlocked Android | Google Pixel 10 | Tom’s Guide names it its best unlocked phone and reports broad U.S. LTE and 5G band support, availability through Google and multiple carriers, and an Amazon retailer link. Its guide lists a 6.3-inch display, Tensor G5, and 12GB RAM; its battery test recorded 13 hours 13 minutes. These are guide-reported specifications and one reviewer’s test result, not a guarantee of everyday battery life. | Exact U.S. SKU, current price and stock, SIM or eSIM needs, and your carrier’s IMEI result. Tom’s Guide’s unlocked-phone guide. |
| Lower-cost Android | Motorola Moto G (2026) | Tom’s Guide names it its best unlocked phone under $200 and reports a 19-hour-10-minute battery-test result. The guide lists a 6.7-inch 1604×720 display and Dimensity 6300. The battery figure is that reviewer’s test result, not a promise of typical runtime; the 720p-class display is dim, according to the guide. | Exact U.S. unlocked version, current stock, and carrier eligibility. Tom’s Guide’s unlocked-phone guide. |
| Premium Android ecosystem | Samsung Galaxy S26 family | A current unlocked-phone guide presents the U.S. unlocked S26 family as a premium Android ecosystem choice. | Choose an exact model and verify its current specifications, direct availability, and carrier IMEI result. The unlocked-phone guide is the cited comparison; current Samsung primary specifications were not established here. |
| Open to iOS | Apple iPhone 17 | Tom’s Guide includes it among unlocked-phone options. | Confirm the exact U.S. model and carrier activation before purchase. Tom’s Guide’s unlocked-phone guide. |
These are starting points based on named editorial coverage, not a hands-on head-to-head test. The cited evidence does not establish a complete ranking across cameras, display quality, support life, charging, or total cost. Compare those factors for the specific models and offers you are considering rather than treating the shortlist as a spec-equivalent replacement for every ZTE phone.

How to confirm a phone will work on your U.S. carrier
“Unlocked” means the phone is not restricted to one carrier; it does not establish that a particular carrier will accept or activate it. The exact model, radio and software compatibility, eligible IMEI, and supported SIM or eSIM activation all matter. Motorola’s U.S. compatibility page offers a device lookup, but also check with the carrier you plan to use.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Identify the exact model and seller. Check the full U.S. model or SKU on the listing, not just the product family name. Review who sells it, the return window, and the warranty terms.
- Check the manufacturer’s compatibility resource. Motorola’s U.S. page is titled “Find which device works on U.S. carriers”. Use it to look up the exact Motorola device you are considering.
- Submit the IMEI to your intended carrier. Use that carrier’s own compatibility checker before purchase. A result for another model, another carrier, or a generic product name is not a substitute.
- Confirm activation details. Ask whether the phone supports the SIM or eSIM setup you need and whether any carrier-specific restrictions apply. Keep the listing and return terms available in case the device cannot be activated as expected.
Should you buy another ZTE or nubia model?
ZTE’s global catalog includes Axon and nubia devices, and its support selector includes product and support entries. Those pages do not establish that a particular model is currently sold in the United States, approved by your carrier, or covered by a U.S.-valid warranty. ZTE also cautions that prices and availability vary by region. Check the exact listing, warranty, network bands, carrier acceptance, and return policy independently before importing or choosing a model with uncertain U.S. distribution.

What to compare before choosing
- Total cost and returns: Compare the actual U.S. unlocked listing, seller, shipping, and return window. The cited pages do not establish a stable price or stock level.
- Carrier activation: Check the exact model’s IMEI with the intended carrier, not only the retailer’s unlocked label.
- Software support: Confirm the manufacturer’s current support commitment for the exact model. The cited comparisons do not establish support periods for these phones.
- Screen and size: Consider how much brightness, resolution, and screen size matter. The Moto G’s 720p-class display is a specific compromise noted by Tom’s Guide.
- Cameras, battery, and charging: Compare model-specific evidence and your use case. A single reviewer battery test is not a forecast of your own runtime.
- SIM and service needs: Check physical SIM or eSIM support and activation requirements for your carrier and plan.
- Warranty and repairs: Confirm who honors the warranty in the United States and how repairs are handled, especially for imported phones.
Why OnePlus is not the default U.S. pick
Android Central reported in July 2026 that OnePlus would stop launching new phones in the United States and Europe while continuing support for current devices. Existing inventory may still be available, but stock and the remaining support horizon depend on the specific model and current status. Treat it as a model-by-model decision rather than a safe default for a new long-term U.S. purchase; verify the latest company and retailer information before committing. Android Central’s report.
