The best setup depends on what you mean by a “24/7 study room.” To keep a playlist repeating on one device, turn on YouTube’s playlist Loop control. To create a public, shared room that viewers can visit as a live destination, configure a YouTube livestream with an encoder; playlist looping alone does not broadcast anything.
Choose playback or a public livestream
| What you want | Use | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous playback for yourself or a room display | YouTube playlist Loop | Repeats the playlist on that viewer’s device and playback session; it does not create a live event. |
| A public study room on your channel | YouTube Live with an encoder | Creates a shared live destination where viewers can watch and use available live features such as chat. |
YouTube documents playlist repeat and livestreaming as separate features. See its playlist playback instructions and encoder livestreaming guidance.
Repeat a playlist on one device
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist you want to repeat.
- Expand the playlist panel in the player.
- Select the playlist Loop control. On mobile, TV, or a gaming console, use the corresponding repeat control in that player’s interface.
- If you want only the current video to repeat, use the single-video repeat option rather than playlist repeat where the player offers that distinction.
This repeats playback in the current viewing context. It does not publish the playlist as a livestream or create a shared live room for your channel. Controls can look different across devices, so use the repeat control shown in the YouTube player you are using.
Set up a public study room with YouTube Live
1. Check channel eligibility and timing
Your channel must be verified and must not have livestream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable access and test ahead of a planned launch. YouTube’s current Help guidance also sets limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. See YouTube’s livestreaming access requirements.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Create the encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream, then choose its title, description, visibility, and other stream settings.
- Create or select a stream key. Treat it as a credential: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream, so do not publish it or put it in a public playlist description.
- In your software or hardware encoder, enter the stream URL and key supplied by YouTube. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders; a basic study-room stream can use software encoding.
- Review whether auto-start and auto-stop are enabled. When reusing a previous stream, YouTube may carry over its metadata, settings, stream key, and auto-start or auto-stop choices.
The exact encoder fields and available options depend on the encoder you choose. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers the YouTube-side process; follow your encoder’s instructions for entering the server URL and key.
3. Check the stream before viewers arrive
- Test both video and audio, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Open the watch page and confirm that the intended audience can access it with the visibility setting you chose.
- Listen for unintended silence, clipping, or looping artifacts, and check that the video is framed and legible on the screens your audience is likely to use.
- Monitor the stream’s audio and video quality while it is live. YouTube recommends ongoing monitoring rather than assuming a long-running stream will remain healthy on its own.
If viewers should be able to pause, rewind, and resume the live broadcast, review the DVR setting in the stream configuration. Check auto-start and auto-stop there too; these are configuration choices, not a substitute for monitoring.

4. Plan for upload capacity and continuity
YouTube says the total bitrate of the stream must not exceed the upload bandwidth available and recommends leaving 20% headroom. For example, if the encoder’s total outbound bitrate is 5 Mbps, plan for at least 6.25 Mbps of available upload capacity under the conditions when you will stream. This is a calculation from YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance, not a guarantee that a connection with that speed will be stable.
A reliable connection matters because disruptions can break a stream. YouTube does not require Ethernet, but a wired connection may be useful if it gives your encoder a more dependable path than Wi-Fi. Leave capacity for other devices and traffic using the same connection, and check performance at the time of day the room will run. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Rights, playlists, and monetization
Use content you are allowed to broadcast
For a livestream, you need the necessary rights for the content, including applicable music licensing rights. Use material you created or confirm that permissions and licenses cover live broadcasting in the territories where viewers may watch. A video being available on YouTube or appearing in a playlist does not establish that you may rebroadcast it.

YouTube’s livestream terms address rights for live content. Playlist titles and descriptions must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines; do not use misleading metadata or create a collection that violates those rules. See YouTube’s playlists policy.
Understand the monetization distinction
YouTube’s monetization policy says repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible as inauthentic content. Its reused-content policy looks for meaningful original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Reused content and copyright are separate questions: adding edits does not automatically grant rights, and having permission does not by itself establish monetization eligibility. A playlist made from other creators’ videos is not proof of either.

Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before building a format around repeated material. A series playlist is a separate feature from looping: it requires a verified account, is limited to videos you uploaded and have rights to, and a video can appear in only one series playlist. Details are in YouTube’s series playlist guidance.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The playlist stops after one pass | Playlist Loop was not enabled, or the current control repeats only one video. | Expand the playlist panel and select playlist Loop; check the device’s player controls. |
| Viewers cannot find a live room | The stream may not be live yet, its visibility may limit access, or the watch page may not be the one being shared. | Check the Live Control Room status and visibility, then test the watch page as a viewer. |
| The encoder does not connect | The URL or stream key may be incorrect, or live access may not yet be enabled. | Recheck the server URL and key in the encoder and confirm channel eligibility and enablement in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
| Video or audio quality fluctuates | The outgoing bitrate may be too close to available upload bandwidth, or the connection may be unstable. | Check total encoder bitrate, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom, and monitor the preview and live stream. |
| A reused stream starts or stops unexpectedly | Reused settings may include earlier auto-start or auto-stop selections. | Inspect those options and the copied stream settings before going live. |
| Music or videos are muted, blocked, or challenged | The stream may include material without rights covering the live broadcast or relevant territory. | Use original or properly licensed material and review YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright notices. |
