Choose RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale when the lowest purchase cost and simple trend charts matter most. Garmin Index S2 makes sense mainly for households already using Garmin Connect, while Withings Body Smart is the polished app-and-health-data step-up.
The important limitation is structural: Wyze BodyScan uses a handle and eight electrodes to estimate arms, legs and torso separately. The alternatives below are primarily foot-only scales, so they can track body-composition trends but do not provide the same segmental view.

Quick comparison
Wyze BodyScan sets a demanding baseline for a budget scale. Wyze describes it as its most affordable smart scale with a BodyScan handle, Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, a 4.3-inch TFT display and 17 body-composition metrics. Its dual-frequency, eight-electrode design measures the arms, legs and torso separately instead of sending the current only through the feet. TechRadar reported a price of $84.98 in an October 2026 review; that is a dated reference price, not a guaranteed current price.
| Scale | Best for | Design | Metrics and connectivity | Price information in the available specifications |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eufy Smart Scale P3 | Feature-rich budget tracking | Foot-only consumer BIA | 16 metrics; Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth; unlimited users; pregnancy, pacemaker and athlete modes | Current fixed price not stated |
| RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale | Lowest-cost broad trend data | Foot-only consumer BIA | Broad body-composition information; app-based trend tracking | Current fixed price not stated |
| Garmin Index S2 | Garmin households | Foot-only consumer BIA | Wide range of body-composition statistics; Wi‑Fi sync to a Garmin account | Current fixed price not stated |
| Withings Body Smart | App and health-data polish | Foot-only consumer BIA | Weight, fat mass, muscle mass and water measurements; Withings health ecosystem | Current fixed price not stated |
| Wyze BodyScan | Segmental analysis on a budget | Handle-based, eight-electrode, dual-frequency BIA | 17 metrics; Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth; arm, leg and torso analysis | $84.98 reported by TechRadar in October 2026; not a guaranteed current price |
If you specifically need separate arm, leg and torso estimates, none of the four alternatives is a like-for-like replacement based on the available specifications. If you need repeatable weight and body-composition trends with automatic app syncing, Eufy P3 is the clearest all-round choice.

What makes Wyze BodyScan different
Handle-based segmental measurement
A conventional smart scale places electrodes under your feet. The electrical path is therefore concentrated through the lower body, and the app estimates the rest of the body using its model. BodyScan adds a hand-held bar with electrodes, creating contact at the hands as well as the feet. Wyze Canada describes dual-frequency, eight-electrode BIA that analyzes the arms, legs and torso separately.
That segmental arrangement is the feature alternatives generally give up. It can answer a different question from “What is my overall body-fat estimate?”: whether the scale reports distinct estimates for each limb and the trunk. More segments do not automatically make a number clinically accurate, but they do provide more detail for people monitoring left-right or upper-versus-lower-body trends.
Metric count is not the same as measurement quality
Wyze says BodyScan reports 17 body-composition metrics. Eufy P3 is specified at 16 metrics, but a one-metric difference does not establish that one device is more accurate. The useful comparison is whether the metrics you will actually follow are available, whether readings sync automatically and whether the device fits your household and routine.

BodyScan combines Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth and has a 4.3-inch TFT screen. Wi‑Fi can send readings to an account without keeping a phone beside the scale; Bluetooth is useful for initial setup or when a model relies on a nearby phone. The competing models differ in how strongly they tie readings to a particular app ecosystem.
Eufy Smart Scale P3: best feature-rich budget alternative
Tom’s Guide describes Anker’s Eufy Smart Scale P3 as a budget-friendly model with 16 metrics, Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth synchronization, unlimited users, and dedicated pregnancy, pacemaker and athlete modes. Those capabilities make it the closest practical match for a buyer who wants broad information and automatic syncing but does not require handle-based segmental readings.

Why it fits budget buyers
- Automatic syncing: Wi‑Fi keeps readings moving to the account after setup, while Bluetooth provides a nearby-phone option.
- Household flexibility: Unlimited-user support avoids forcing a small family to share one profile or delete older users.
- Special modes: Pregnancy, pacemaker and athlete modes acknowledge that the default body-composition model is not appropriate for every user. Select the mode that matches your situation and follow the manufacturer’s safety guidance.
- Broad dashboard: Sixteen metrics give more context than weight alone, although the available specification does not list every metric by name.
What you give up versus BodyScan
P3 is a foot-only scale in the available description. It should therefore be chosen for convenient whole-body trend tracking, not for separate arm, leg and torso estimates. The source material does not establish a fixed current price, so check the price and stock for your country at the time of purchase rather than treating an old listing as a standing cost.
RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale: best for low-cost breadth
Tom’s Guide characterizes the RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale as easy to use and capable of providing a broad set of body-composition information. It is the sensible choice when the priority is a low entry cost and basic trend tracking rather than segmental analysis, a large on-device display or a premium health-data ecosystem.

When RENPHO is the right compromise
- You mainly want weight and body-composition trends in an app.
- You do not need the scale to distinguish torso, arms and legs.
- You prefer a straightforward setup over advanced ecosystem features.
- You are willing to judge progress by repeated measurements instead of a single body-fat percentage.
How to interpret its body-fat estimate
Do not present a RENPHO body-fat percentage as clinically exact. Like other consumer BIA scales, it estimates composition from electrical impedance and user data. A reading that changes after a salty meal, hard workout or long period without fluids can reflect conditions around the measurement rather than a true change in fat tissue. The product is most useful when you measure under similar conditions and watch the direction over time.
Garmin Index S2: best for Garmin households
Tom’s Guide says Garmin Index S2 sends data by Wi‑Fi to a Garmin account and measures a wide range of body-composition statistics. Its main reason to buy is integration with Garmin Connect and an existing Garmin watch or training routine.
Why the ecosystem matters
For a Garmin household, having scale readings in the same account as activity and training data can reduce manual logging and make long-term charts easier to review. That convenience is the differentiator; it is not a segmental-handle feature.

Who should skip it
If you do not already use Garmin devices or Garmin Connect, the ecosystem benefit may not justify paying more than a basic foot-only scale. Compare the total cost with the value of automatic account integration, not just the number of body-composition fields shown by the scale.

Withings Body Smart: best step-up app and health ecosystem
Withings calls Body Smart its entry-level scale and lists weight, fat mass, muscle mass and water measurements. It belongs on a shortlist for buyers who value a polished app and a broader health-data environment while staying below a premium segmental device.
What it does well
- Provides the core composition categories most people use for trend review: fat mass, muscle mass and water alongside weight.
- Fits a buyer who wants health data presented consistently in one established app.
- Offers a step up in software experience without claiming to replicate BodyScan’s arm, leg and torso analysis.
The key limitation
Body Smart is not a direct replacement for Wyze’s handle-based segmental readings. Choose it for software and health-data polish, not for eight-electrode, dual-frequency segment reporting.
Foot-only or handle-based: which design do you need?
Choose a handle-based scale when detail is the goal
A handle is worth prioritizing if you want separate estimates for the upper body, lower body and trunk; you are willing to follow a more involved weighing posture; and you specifically want the extra detail that an eight-electrode path can provide. BodyScan is the only model in this comparison described with that segmental handle design.
Choose a foot-only scale when consistency is the goal
Foot-only scales are faster: step on, wait for the reading and let the app sync. For many users, that simplicity increases adherence. A less detailed measurement taken three or four times per week under consistent conditions can be more useful than a more elaborate measurement that is rarely repeated.

Do not confuse more segments with medical diagnosis
Segmental output can be informative, but it remains an estimate. The additional regions do not turn a consumer scale into a clinical body-composition test. Use the detail to observe patterns, not to diagnose a condition or make a treatment decision.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How consumer BIA readings work—and why they move
Bioelectrical impedance analysis sends a very small electrical signal through the body and uses the measured impedance, along with entered information such as height, age and sex, to estimate body-water and body-composition values. The result is model-dependent rather than a direct weighing of fat or muscle.
Wyze explains that BodyScan uses BIA. The same basic limitation applies to the alternatives: hydration, time of day, skin contact, recent exercise, food and drink, and foot or hand placement can move the estimate. The available sources do not publish one universal accuracy percentage that applies across all five models, so no honest comparison can promise that one percentage is “clinically accurate” for every user.
What a useful trend looks like
Look for a direction across several weeks, not a single decimal place. If weight is stable but the composition estimate changes sharply from one morning to the next, first check whether the measurement conditions changed. Record the scale’s values alongside your routine so you can distinguish a persistent pattern from normal day-to-day noise.
Safety and medical use
A consumer scale is not a diagnosis and should not replace clinical testing. If you are pregnant, have an implanted electronic device or have been told to avoid BIA, follow your clinician’s advice and the scale maker’s safety instructions. The Eufy P3 description includes pregnancy and pacemaker modes, but a mode label is not a substitute for professional guidance.
Best Value
- A CLINICAL SCAN OF YOUR HEALTH - Body Smart, developed in collaboration with leading hospitals and clinical institutions, has been clinically validated.
- ACHIEVE YOUR WEIGHT GOALS FASTER - Reliably track your weight to within 50 g and view your weight trends directly on the scale's high-resolution color display.

How to get more repeatable readings
- Install the manufacturer’s app and create profiles. Enter height, age and sex accurately; an incorrect profile can distort every estimate.
- Complete Wi‑Fi setup where you will use the scale. Keep Bluetooth available during pairing if the app requests it. For Wi‑Fi models, confirm that a test reading appears in the account before moving the scale.
- Pick one measurement window. Many people use the morning after using the bathroom and before eating, but the essential rule is to use the same type of window each time.
- Use the same surface. Place the scale on a hard, level floor. Carpeting or an uneven surface can affect weight and contact.
- Keep contact consistent. Stand barefoot with the same foot position on a foot-only scale. For BodyScan, follow the handle instructions and use the same arm position each time.
- Avoid immediately after unusual conditions. Do not compare a post-workout, post-meal reading with a quiet-morning baseline and assume the difference is tissue change.
- Review trends weekly. Use the app’s history to look for sustained movement. Ignore small isolated swings unless they repeat.
Buying decision by priority
| Your priority | Best fit | Reason | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most detail for arms, legs and torso | Wyze BodyScan | Handle-based, eight-electrode segmental BIA | More involved measurements; body-fat values are still estimates |
| Many metrics plus automatic syncing at a budget position | Eufy Smart Scale P3 | 16 metrics, Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, unlimited users and special modes | Foot-only design; current price not stated |
| Lowest-cost broad trend tracking | RENPHO Smart Body Fat Scale | Simple use and broad composition information | No segmental analysis; do not treat percentages as clinical facts |
| Existing Garmin training setup | Garmin Index S2 | Wi‑Fi sync to Garmin Connect and a wide range of statistics | Limited value without the Garmin ecosystem |
| Polished app and health-data experience | Withings Body Smart | Entry-level model with weight, fat, muscle and water measurements | Not a handle-based segmental replacement |
Common pitfalls and fixes
Expecting identical numbers between brands
Different scales use different electrodes, frequencies, algorithms and assumptions. A RENPHO percentage is not directly interchangeable with a BodyScan or Garmin percentage. If you change devices, establish a new baseline instead of stitching the old and new series together as though they were laboratory measurements.
Choosing by metric count alone
Sixteen versus 17 metrics says little about which device fits your routine. Check whether the app, user profiles, connectivity and measurement format are the features you will actually use.
Ignoring regional availability
Prices, bundles, firmware, app features and retailer stock can vary by country and change over time. The only dated price in this comparison is the $84.98 BodyScan figure reported by TechRadar in October 2026. Verify the current listing, warranty and supported app region before ordering any model.
Using a scale to settle a medical question
Consumer BIA can support personal tracking, but a diagnosis requires appropriate clinical evaluation. Bring a trend log to a clinician if it is relevant; do not self-diagnose from a single reading.
Bottom line
Eufy Smart Scale P3 is the best researched alternative for most budget buyers who want rich metrics and Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth syncing. RENPHO is the better low-cost, no-frills choice. Garmin Index S2 earns its place when Garmin Connect is already central to your routine, and Withings Body Smart is the app-focused step-up. Buy Wyze BodyScan instead only when its handle-based, arm-leg-torso analysis is the feature you actually need; none of the other models described here provides that same segmental format.
