Choose Plaud NotePin S for a physical recording button
NotePin S is the clearest fit if you want a wearable with a tactile record button and a press-to-highlight control. Plaud says the package includes a pin, clip, lanyard, wristband, charging dock and cable; it lists the device at 0.61 oz. Plaud’s original NotePin instead uses pressure-sensitive, button-free control. Choose SwitchBot AI MindClip if you want a clip-style option
SwitchBot’s current US listing gives the MindClip’s dimensions, weight, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a two-year warranty. That is not enough information to compare its recording duration, transcription allowance or recurring service cost directly with the other products. The current listing displays a price, unlike the January 5, 2026 CES launch coverage, which reported that price and subscription details had not yet been announced. Choose Omi if a pendant and offline capture suit you
Omi’s pendant form and its stated ability to capture audio offline and sync later may suit someone who prefers not to wear a ring or clip. The company describes app, desktop and web support, and says users can run Omi locally. Its page’s free-plan description distinguishes unlimited on-phone transcription from 300 cloud transcription minutes per month, so “unlimited” should not be read as unlimited cloud processing. Choose Vocci if a ring is the form factor you want
Vocci is the only ring in this comparison. Its page lists US sizes 6–15, IP67 water resistance and a charging case said to provide three additional full charges. Vocci says the ring records offline and syncs through its app; that is a claim about capture and later syncing, not proof that transcription or AI features work offline. Recording duration and offline use are not the same thing
Plaud lists up to 20 hours of continuous recording for both NotePin models; Omi lists 10–14 hours per charge, and Vocci lists up to 8 hours. These are manufacturer-stated figures, not results from a shared battery test. The SwitchBot listing reviewed here does not provide a verified recording-duration figure, so a direct four-way runtime ranking is not possible.
Offline capture means a device can save audio without a live phone connection; it does not necessarily mean the device can transcribe, summarize or sync without the phone or cloud service. Omi says it records offline and syncs later. Vocci says it records offline and syncs when the app is opened. Plaud describes app, web and desktop workflows, but those details alone do not establish that all AI processing can happen offline. If offline operation matters, verify exactly what is stored locally and what requires a connection before relying on the device.
Compare transcription allowances before focusing on hardware price
The purchase price is only one part of the cost if you plan to transcribe regularly. The published allowances vary, and the pages do not establish identical rules for what happens when a monthly quota runs out.

Plaud says the magnets in the NotePin S pin and clip can produce fields up to 2,100 gauss and advises people with pacemakers not to wear NotePin S on the chest. Plaud, Omi and Vocci make security or privacy claims on their product pages, including certification-related claims. Those statements were not independently audited here; the available information does not establish the full scope of certifications, retention periods, subprocessors, deletion behavior or which workflows use local versus cloud processing. SwitchBot’s reviewed listing does not provide enough detail to compare cloud retention or processing. If you will record sensitive conversations, check each provider’s current privacy, data-retention and deletion terms before use.
How to make the decision
- Pick the form factor you will actually wear. Narrow the choice to a clip or pin (Plaud or SwitchBot), pendant (Omi) or ring (Vocci). Consider whether a visible recording device is appropriate in the settings where you plan to use it.
- Decide how you want to start and mark recordings. NotePin S offers a tactile record button and Press to Highlight; the original NotePin uses pressure-sensitive control. Confirm the controls available on other models against their current documentation.
- Estimate your monthly transcription need. Compare it with the stated plan allowance, and establish what happens after it is used. Include any optional subscription in your total cost.
- Separate offline recording from offline AI. If you need to capture audio without a phone connection, check the device’s stated behavior. If you also need transcription or summaries offline, verify that separately.
- Check fit, safety, service and checkout terms. Confirm ring size or included attachments, current price, warranty, return policy, privacy terms and any warnings relevant to you before buying.
None of these comparisons establishes which device has the best microphone or transcription accuracy. Those questions require testing the same speakers, rooms, distance, background noise and transcription criteria across all four products.
