Best Weapons and Gear for Frigate Runs in Arc Raiders (October 2026)

The strongest Frigate kit is role-based rather than a single “best loadout.” Take Hullcracker or Jupiter to damage armored ARC, pair it with a dependable close-to-mid-range weapon for Raiders and smaller ARC, and reserve enough ammunition for several interior fights. Add multiple heals and shield charges, a Grappling Hook or Snap Hook, a controlled-descent option such as a Powered Descender, and at least one teammate-recovery tool. Carry less expensive equipment for the introductory Boarding the Frigate quest; use the full sustain-and-utility package only when your squad intends to complete the sabotage and cargo route.

The Frigate is a patch-sensitive PvPvE map condition, not a separate ordinary queue. Current recommendations come from third-party guides rather than an official developer specification or controlled weapon test. The details below reflect guides reviewed in October 2026, including Beebom’s October 9, 2026 setup, the route and team advice in games.gg’s guide, and the full-clear observations in the Arc Raiders Hub guide.

What the Frigate encounter actually asks you to do

The ship cannot simply be destroyed from outside. You board it, fight through its interior, operate objectives, and then escape with whatever you managed to protect. A Reclaimer travels between the ground and the elevated Frigate. When the platform is low enough, climb aboard, use Disrupt on its center interaction, ride upward, and step onto the hull. This approach is exposed to both ARC and rival Raiders, so the boarding weapon and your first healing resources matter before the ship fight even starts.

There are two practical goals:

  • Boarding the Frigate quest: board and damage enemies. You can complete this with a cheaper, compact kit and leave before attempting the deeper puzzle.
  • Full sabotage and cargo run: progress through multiple ARC engagements, operate simultaneous controls, destroy a core, release cargo, and return safely. This route justifies heavier ammunition, more healing, traversal equipment, and recovery tools.

Guides disagree on exact counts and route details because the encounter is new and balance-sensitive. Treat objective prompts in your live build as authoritative if they differ from a guide.

Weapon roles: what to carry and why

Role Recommended direction Use in the encounter Important qualification
Armored-ARC damage Hullcracker or Jupiter Primary answer to the Frigate’s armored ARC and Hydra-like threats. These are current editorial recommendations, not confirmed damage rankings or official minimum requirements.
Raiders and smaller ARC A reliable close-to-mid-range weapon; Beebom gives Bettina as one heavy-weapon example. Handles tight corridors, boarding fights, and targets that are poor uses of armor-piercing ammunition. Choose the weapon you control well. A long-range specialist can be awkward inside the ship.
Emergency or team utility Grenades such as Wolf Packs or Trigger Nades Breaks pressure, denies a push, or helps a teammate cross an exposed section. Guides list these as optional utility, not mandatory equipment.

A two-weapon split prevents the common mistake of spending every armor-focused round on ordinary Raiders. Keep the armor weapon for armored ARC and use the close-to-mid-range gun for interior clearing and PvP. If your squad expects a hostile lobby, give one player the more PvP-capable primary while another preserves armor damage and ammunition for the objective.

Beebom’s guide recommends Bettina alongside Hullcracker or Jupiter. games.gg similarly separates a close-to-mid-range main weapon from Hullcracker or an equivalent armor option. Neither source presents a controlled comparison, so do not interpret the pairing as a measured tier list.

A complete example loadout

The following is Beebom’s detailed October 9, 2026 example, organized by purpose rather than presented as a universal requirement.

Slot or category Example item Reason to bring it When to reduce or replace it
General weapon Bettina Close-to-mid-range heavy weapon that the guide positions for both PvP and PvE. Replace with a familiar weapon if its ammunition is scarce or you expect mostly quest damage.
Armor weapon Hullcracker or Jupiter Dedicated answer to armored ARC. Do not omit both on a full sabotage attempt unless your squad has another player covering the role.
Augment Looting MK3 Survivor Supports the guide’s survival-and-loot approach. Use the augment that matches your inventory and risk tolerance in the current build.
Shield Medium Shield Provides a larger survivability buffer during sustained ARC fire. A lighter option may suit a short introductory run, but leaves less margin for mistakes.
Health Herbal Bandages plus Vita Shot or Sterilized Bandage Lets you recover from ordinary damage and more urgent pressure. Do not rely on one healing category; fire and repeated hits can consume recovery quickly.
Shield recovery Shield Rechargers Restores protection between engagements without spending health items. Carry fewer only when you are deliberately leaving after the quest objective.
Offensive utility Wolf Packs or Trigger Nades Creates space or damages clustered threats. Swap for additional ammunition if your team already has ample explosive coverage.
Protection and recovery Barriers and Defibrillators Barriers provide cover; Defibrillators give the squad a recovery option after a down. A solo or low-risk quest run may prioritize mobility over team recovery.
Traversal Snap Hook Reaches Reclaimers, crosses the ship, and can bypass some traversal stages. Hooks can break or be lost; never treat one as a guaranteed escape.
Ammunition Heavy plus launcher/energy ammunition Supports both weapon roles and the repeated ARC fights. Reduce reserves only for a short quest attempt with a planned extraction.

Item availability, inventory limits, patch balance, and your own handling can make a different combination better. The value of this setup is coverage: armor damage, interior fighting, sustain, traversal, and teammate recovery all have a place.

Choose the kit by mission profile

Mission plan Weapons Consumables and utility Risk posture
Introductory Boarding the Frigate quest One dependable close-to-mid-range weapon and either Hullcracker or Jupiter if you expect to damage armored ARC. Enough healing and shields for the boarding fight, one hook if the route requires it, and only limited grenades. Keep replacement cost low. Board, damage the required enemies, and extract rather than forcing the cargo puzzle.
Full sabotage and cargo Dedicated armor weapon plus a separate weapon for Raiders and smaller ARC. Large ammunition reserve, multiple heals and Shield Rechargers, barriers, grenades, Defibrillator, hook, and a descent plan. Assume a long fight and possible teammate downs. Protect valuable loot before taking optional risks.
PvP-heavy lobby Favor the weapon you can use in close corridors and keep armor ammunition for the objective. Let one squad member specialize in ARC damage. More immediate healing, cover, and escape utility; fewer expensive optional items if losing them would end the run. Do not bring a full ARC-clear inventory when rival Raiders are likely to intercept you before the ship.

The distinction is economic as well as tactical. A complete Frigate kit occupies slots and can be lost. For a quest-only run, the extra ammunition and recovery gear may create more downside than benefit.

Ammunition planning for repeated ARC fights

Bring a large reserve for a full clear. Arc Raiders Hub reports that one trio used more than 150 Hullcracker rounds per player, along with heavy ammunition for Bettinas, during its reported full-clear run. That is a single squad’s experience, not an average requirement or a guaranteed consumption figure, but it shows why a token stack of armor rounds is inadequate for the sabotage route.

  • Separate armor ammunition from general-purpose ammunition in your planning. Do not spend Hullcracker rounds on targets your secondary can handle.
  • Carry the ammunition type required by every weapon actually in the squad; a teammate cannot solve your shortage if everyone chose the same scarce type.
  • Top up before boarding rather than assuming the ship will provide enough usable drops.
  • When supplies run low, prioritize the objective and an exit over optional hatch clearing or fights with Raiders.

Arc Raiders Hub also reports 64 breachable hatch containers from game-file information. That is a guide-reported count, not a guarantee that every container appears, contains useful ammunition, or is worth opening during a contested run. Treat containers as opportunities after the squad has a safe route, not as a reason to spend your last armor rounds.

Healing, shields, and fire damage

Hydras, Fireflies, and other ARC can drain health and shields during an extended push. Heal before you are one hit from a down: sustained fire, burning effects, and a second enemy can arrive while a low-health player is trying to finish an interaction.

  • Use cover to recharge shields before consuming health items whenever the area is secure.
  • Keep at least one fast recovery option available for a teammate crossing an exposed panel.
  • Do not let the entire squad begin a core interaction with empty shields; assign one player to watch the approach while others operate controls.
  • Reserve a Defibrillator for a down that can actually be stabilized. Reviving in open fire without cover can convert one down into a squad wipe.

There is no published universal item count. The correct number depends on whether you are attempting only the quest or the full route, how efficiently your squad uses cover, and how often rival Raiders force detours.

Traversal and the return trip

A Grappling Hook or Snap Hook has two jobs: getting onto or across the ship and helping the squad reach Reclaimers or skip awkward traversal sections. A hook is not a promise that every jump is safe. Guides warn that hooks can break or be lost, and no descent item prevents every fall.

Plan the descent before climbing

  1. Identify where the next Reclaimer or extraction path is likely to be before committing to the highest deck.
  2. Keep the hook available for the movement that actually saves the run instead of spending it on a shortcut with a safe alternative.
  3. Carry a Powered Descender when the route and inventory allow it. Guides recommend it as a descent aid, not as guaranteed fall protection.
  4. Leave a player with a clear line of sight to the return route while others loot or operate the final controls.
  5. If the hook breaks or disappears, stop improvising long drops. Re-route through marked platforms and wait for a safe opening rather than treating momentum as a recovery plan.

The yellow wall targets described by Arc Raiders Hub open fold-out platforms. Use those platforms to maintain a controlled path instead of jumping blindly between elevations.

How the route changes your team roles

Three players can divide responsibilities even when the exact sequence changes between builds. Use one player as the armor specialist, one as the interior/PvP guard, and one as the interaction and recovery support. Rotate those jobs when ammunition or health becomes uneven.

Boarding the Reclaimer

  1. Approach while the Reclaimer is low and identify rival Raiders or ARC on the approach.
  2. Climb onto the platform rather than trying to jump directly to the ship.
  3. Use Disrupt on the center interaction.
  4. Ride upward and step onto the Frigate hull together; a separated player may be forced to spend a hook or wait for another pass.

The boarding platform is an exposed PvP checkpoint. Put the close-range weapon user on the side most likely to receive a push while the armor specialist watches for ARC.

First lift and central core

Arc Raiders Hub describes simultaneous panels at the first lift and central core. The guide notes some run-to-run variation in player count for the first lift, so read the active prompts instead of assuming a fixed number. Have players call out which panel they are taking, then hold the route until every required interaction is ready.

Interior ARC waves

Progression introduces Hydras, Rocketeers, Vaporizers, and other flying ARC. Hydra targeting can punish a tight stack; spread enough to avoid one attack threatening everyone, while keeping visual contact and a retreat lane. Preserve cover and do not chase a flying target into a dead end. The in-game Codex describes the Hydra as “an immovable threat capable of engaging several threats at once,” which is a warning to divide its attention and maintain escape options rather than stand in one cluster.

Lower cargo release

  1. Reach the lower cargo area and destroy the required core.
  2. Move two Raiders to the opposite-side release panels.
  3. Activate the panels simultaneously when the prompts are live.
  4. Repeat the interaction as required until the cargo releases.
  5. Watch the cargo canister’s descent and secure the landing area before looting.

This section is coordination-intensive because the operators cannot both watch every approach. The third player should clear or cover the route, call incoming PvP, and be ready to revive rather than start a solo loot animation.

Protecting valuable loot

Move a valuable Amplification Module to the safe pocket as soon as you acquire it. Arc Raiders Hub recounts losing other carried gear on a failed run while retaining the module in the safe pocket. That example illustrates the priority: secure the irreplaceable item before opening optional containers or taking another fight.

  • Do not delay the safe-pocket transfer until the cargo room is quiet; the next ARC wave or Raider push may remove that opportunity.
  • After securing the module, decide whether the remaining loot justifies another interaction.
  • Keep inventory space for ammunition and recovery items needed to leave. A full bag can turn a successful clear into a forced choice under fire.
  • Remember that the carried kit itself is at risk. Current guides report that free kits are disabled for this encounter, so plan around the equipment you actually bring.

Common failure points and fixes

Symptom Likely cause Practical response
You cannot board the ship. The Reclaimer is not low enough, the center interaction was missed, or the approach is being contested. Wait for the low pass, climb onto the platform, target the center Disrupt interaction, and clear the approach before riding up.
The squad reaches an interaction but the objective does not complete. A required panel is unoccupied, the prompts differ from the guide, or the team activated controls out of sequence. Read every live prompt, assign one player per visible panel, and follow the current in-game order rather than a memorized route.
Hydra fire forces repeated downs. The team is stacked in one spot or has no retreat lane. Spread out, keep cover between volleys, focus the armor role on the Hydra, and leave a player watching the escape route.
Hullcracker ammunition runs out. Armor rounds were spent on ordinary targets or the reserve was too small for a full clear. Switch the secondary to non-armored enemies, share ammunition before the next core, and extract if the objective can no longer be completed safely.
A hook breaks or is lost. Traversal equipment is consumable or failed during a shortcut. Use marked fold-out platforms and the planned route; do not assume a Powered Descender makes an uncontrolled fall safe.
A teammate is down beside a panel. The interaction area is exposed and the squad started without cover. Deploy a barrier, suppress the immediate threat, revive only when a player can watch the approach, then resume the synchronized interaction.
Raiders attack during cargo release. The cargo objective creates a predictable pause in attention. Keep one player on security, call which side the attack comes from, and abandon the panel briefly if completing it would cause a wipe.

How to decide whether an expensive kit is justified

Use five questions before deploying:

  1. What is the objective? Quest damage requires less sustain than a cargo clear.
  2. Who covers armored ARC? At least one player should carry Hullcracker or Jupiter, or the squad should knowingly accept a slower and riskier fight.
  3. Who handles Raiders? Assign a close-to-mid-range weapon user instead of expecting the armor specialist to solve every encounter.
  4. How will you get down? Bring a hook and a return route, with a Powered Descender where appropriate.
  5. What can you afford to lose? If the answer is “nothing,” use a cheaper quest kit and secure valuable modules immediately.

This framework is more reliable than copying a list of item names because it still works when a patch changes damage, ammunition access, hook behavior, or Frigate availability.

What is confirmed, and what can change

The Frigate guides reviewed for October 2026 agree on the broad pattern: board through a Reclaimer, fight escalating ARC inside, solve synchronized interactions, release cargo, and plan the return. They do not establish a developer-approved best weapon, population-level ammunition averages, or permanent minimum requirements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

games.gg noted on October 8, 2026 that the complete sabotage sequence and cargo route were still being mapped. Arc Raiders Hub later documented a first full clear, but its precise route remains vulnerable to map and balance updates. KosGames’ puzzle guide is another contemporaneous reference, not a permanent rules document.

Before each deployment, check the live objective prompts, weapon stats, ammunition availability, inventory restrictions, and whether the Frigate map condition is active. Treat exact item counts and route shortcuts as recommendations that may need revision after a patch.
