Spend gems on deliberate unit summons, not impulse rerolls or convenience purchases. Build your balance through first-time Story clears and repeatable daily or weekly quests, then use events, codes, Odyssey and Worldlines when their current rewards justify the time. Keep Trait Rerolls for a carry or irreplaceable support that is staying in your team, and check the live banner and shop screens before committing a large balance.
Anime Vanguards changes its banners, events, traits and exchange values. The safest plan is therefore a priority order and a verification routine rather than a permanent list of “best” units or fixed gem prices.
Start with a spending order
Use this order whenever you receive gems or another reward:
- Secure guaranteed progression rewards. Finish untouched Story stages and claim the first-clear rewards before spending time on endgame farming.
- Cover repeatable tasks. Complete the current daily and weekly quests that fit your account so your next summon is funded by normal play.
- Inspect the live summon banner. Confirm the featured units, rates, pity or guarantee rules, expiration time and the exact cost shown by the game.
- Summon only for a team need. A banner should fill a missing role, improve a major weakness or provide a unit you have planned around—not merely offer a unit with a high community ranking.
- Keep a reserve. Do not empty your balance on a banner unless you understand what happens when it ends and you are comfortable losing flexibility for the next update.
- Use Trait Rerolls last. Reroll a core carry or high-value support after you have decided that the unit will remain relevant to your account.
This sequence prevents the most expensive mistake: converting a scarce currency into a short-term boost before you know what the current banner or event requires.

Different activities have different opportunity costs. Compare them by whether the reward is one-time or repeatable, how much account progress is required, what the current screen actually offers, and how long the activity takes.

Reward amounts and named events change. A guide that lists a number for a quest, code or pity threshold should not be treated as a current promise; read the amount displayed in your client before planning around it.
Build an early-game route
- Push Story stages until a requirement, loss or clear-time problem becomes the limiting factor.
- Claim every first-clear reward and check the stage screen for unclaimed objectives.
- Complete daily and weekly quests that overlap with your normal Story or upgrade play. Avoid spending a scarce resource solely to finish a quest unless the displayed reward is worth that cost.
- Use newly unlocked modes only after checking their entry conditions and expected clear reliability.
- Reassess the route when an event starts; an event may offer more useful account resources than a routine run, but only for its active period.
How to decide whether a gem summon is worth it
Gems are most valuable when they buy units that solve a specific problem. Before opening a banner, write down the role you need—damage, range, crowd control, support, farming or a mode-specific requirement—and compare the featured pool with that list.
Use a three-question test
- Need: Does the banner address a weakness that is currently blocking stages or modes?
- Fit: Can the unit work with the traits, upgrades and supports you already own?
- Timing: Is the banner available long enough for you to reach the displayed guarantee, and what alternative banner or event could appear before then?
If the answer to any question is unknown, delay the purchase while you gather information from the in-game banner panel. Delay is a valid use of gems: an unspent balance keeps every future option open.
Read the live banner screen, not an old cost list
Before a large spend, open the current summon interface and record the exact details shown there:

- single- and multi-summon prices;
- featured and non-featured unit pools;
- drop rates or probability disclosures;
- pity, guarantee or exchange progress;
- whether progress carries to another banner;
- the banner’s closing time and time zone;
- duplicate-unit rewards and any conversion rules.
Public guides have circulated example prices and pity totals, but those figures are not independently established as current. Do not budget from an old screenshot or a search snippet; use the values in your own client.
Choose singles or multi-summons only from the displayed rules
A multi-summon is worthwhile only if the live banner gives it a meaningful advantage, such as a guaranteed rarity or progress that singles do not provide. If the interface shows identical per-pull odds and no bonus, the choice is mainly convenience and balance management. If a guarantee is attached to a particular purchase type, follow that rule even when a community guide recommends the opposite.
What not to buy with gems
A secondary guide recommends saving gems for character summons and avoiding direct gem purchases of Trait Rerolls or stat chips. Those materials can also come from gameplay routes such as codes, events and Odyssey, although availability and quantities change. Treat that recommendation as a default, not an absolute law:
- Buy a reroll or chip with gems only when the current shop explicitly shows the item, the price is acceptable to you and the purchase prevents a near-term progression block.
- Do not spend gems on a convenience item merely because your balance feels large after a reward claim.
- Compare the shop purchase with the number of runs, quests or event exchanges needed to earn the same material without gems.
- Keep enough gems for a summon that addresses your stated team need unless the shop item is required to unlock that summon’s usefulness.
Because exchange rates and inventories are live values, there is no permanent “good price” that can be quoted safely outside the current shop.

When to use Trait Rerolls
Trait Rerolls have the highest practical value on units that will stay in your roster. Use them on a core carry or a high-value support whose role cannot be replaced easily, not on a temporary unit you expect to replace after the next banner.
Reroll candidates
- A carry that appears in several of your reliable teams and is already upgraded enough to justify investment.
- A support whose buff, range or utility enables clears that your roster otherwise cannot achieve.
- A limited or difficult-to-replace unit that you have confirmed fits your long-term plan.
Units to leave alone
- Early placeholders used only until your first stronger summon.
- Units you have not tested in the mode where you intend to use them.
- Characters whose recommended traits come from an older tier list or a previous balance patch.
A practical reroll stopping rule
- Define the minimum result that makes the unit effective for your team.
- Set a maximum number of rerolls before you begin, based on the materials you can replace without delaying summons.
- Stop when the unit meets the role you need; do not chase a marginally higher ranking if the improvement is not visible in your clears.
- Recheck the current trait descriptions after a patch. A name that was top-tier in an older guide may have a different value after balance changes or new content.
Trait rankings are patch-sensitive. Evaluate the trait’s actual effect, compatibility with the unit and the stages you play rather than copying a fixed tier-list order.
How to evaluate limited-time events
An event is valuable when its rewards improve your account more efficiently than the activities you would otherwise run during the same time. Do not farm an event automatically just because it is temporary.
Event value checklist
- List the rewards you still need: gems, summon materials, upgrade items, rerolls or a shop-exclusive resource.
- Check the event’s end date and whether unused currency disappears.
- Calculate how many runs, entries or stamina units are required for each meaningful reward.
- Confirm whether the event has a first-clear bonus, a repeatable track, exchange caps or a daily limit.
- Prefer rewards that remove a current bottleneck over items that will sit unused.
If an event shop offers several currencies, spend the event currency on the item that advances your next planned milestone. Do not exchange everything immediately; keep a small buffer until you have checked the full shop and any final-stage unlocks.

Using Odyssey and Worldlines without wasting time
Odyssey and Worldlines are additional reward routes, not automatic replacements for Story and quests. Their value depends on your account’s access, clear rate and the current reward table.
Odyssey decision rule
Run Odyssey when you can clear it consistently and its displayed payout is better for your time than a safer available activity. A difficult run that fails repeatedly can produce less progress than an easier route, even if its theoretical reward is higher.
Worldlines decision rule
Enter Worldlines after checking its unlock requirements, modifiers and completion rewards. Build a team for the specific rules of the current Worldline rather than assuming your general Story team is optimal. If a modifier makes your clear rate unreliable, postpone farming until an upgrade or replacement unit changes the result.

Common mistakes and how to recover
Spending before reading the banner
Symptom: You discover after summoning that the featured unit does not solve your problem or that the guarantee works differently than expected.
Recovery: Stop spending, record the remaining banner time and inspect the pool, rates and guarantee panel. Rebuild your plan around the balance that remains rather than trying to “make back” the loss with more pulls.
Following an old tier list
Symptom: A trait or unit recommended in a guide performs poorly after a patch or in the mode you actually play.

Farming advanced modes too early
Symptom: Odyssey or Worldlines consumes time through failed attempts while easier rewards remain unclaimed.
Recovery: Return to first clears, daily or weekly quests and reliable event objectives. Re-enter the advanced mode after an upgrade changes your clear consistency.
Buying rerolls because the shop is available
Symptom: Gems disappear into materials that could have been earned through codes, events or gameplay.

A repeatable weekly routine
- At the start of the cycle, inspect the current banner, event and shop expiration times.
- Write one summon objective and one roster role you are trying to improve.
- Clear available first-time Story rewards before repeating content.

- Check codes through the game’s current official announcement channels and redeem only codes that are still valid.
- Compare Odyssey and Worldlines payouts with the time and failure risk of your best reliable route.
- Review your Trait Reroll stock and reserve it for the core units that passed your stopping rule.
- Before any large purchase, reopen the banner or shop screen and confirm every number and deadline.

Keep these fields in a note so an exciting banner does not replace a plan:
- Current balance: record gems and each reroll material separately.
- Next team milestone: name the stage, mode or role blocking progress.
- Target banner: write the end time, featured pool and displayed guarantee rule.
- Maximum spend: choose the amount you can spend without losing your next option.
- Reroll reserve: mark which units are permanent candidates and the trait result that is “good enough.”

Update the worksheet after a patch, because a changed trait, banner rule or event shop can invalidate an older plan.
What current guides can and cannot tell you
Community guides are useful for explaining broad priorities—save for summons, progress through Story, use events and reserve rerolls—but they age quickly. Named unit rankings, trait orders, event names, active codes, banner costs, rates, pity rules and shop exchanges should be treated as provisional until the live game confirms them. Search-result snippets and inaccessible pages are not reliable evidence for a precise current figure.
