The available deployment guidance gives useful resource baselines, but it does not establish a verified ranking of 11 providers or support an independent “we tested” claim. Choose a plan by workload, location, price and renewal terms, and how much server administration you are prepared to handle.
Start with the workload, not the provider ranking
Hermes Agent can run on a Linux VPS using a native service or Docker. A VPS keeps the agent process available when your personal computer is off, which is useful for gateways and scheduled tasks. The machine running Hermes is not necessarily the same environment where its terminal commands run: Hermes documentation describes local, Docker, SSH, Modal, Daytona, and Singularity execution backends. That distinction matters if you expect commands or tools to run somewhere other than the VPS itself.

The cited guides do not establish a resource baseline for every possible combination of tools, concurrent tasks, or local model inference. In particular, the Hermes 1 GB example explicitly excludes running a local LLM. Treat plan sizing as workload-dependent, and leave room for the operating system and any other services on the VPS.

Compare hosts on the terms that affect your deployment
There is not enough verified, like-for-like plan information here to name a best provider or rank 11 hosts for Hermes Agent. Before choosing, check the exact plan in the region where you want to run it and record these details from the provider:
- Resources: allocated CPU, RAM, and disk, compared with your intended workload rather than just the starting price.
- Price: the current monthly charge and the renewal price, if different; confirm billing period and any introductory terms.
- Location: the available data-center region and whether it suits the services and users the VPS needs to reach.
- Network terms: included bandwidth and any stated limits or overage conditions.
- Administration: whether you manage Linux updates, security, service recovery, and backups yourself, or the plan includes relevant managed services.

Hermes’s deployment guide describes both native-service and Docker approaches. Its directions include choosing a supported Linux host, connecting over SSH, installing Hermes, completing setup, and running diagnostics before relying on the server unattended. It also advises checking that gateway delivery still works after a restart. These are the guide’s instructions; they are not a report of an independently tested deployment.
Whichever installation method you choose, account for ongoing operating-system maintenance and backups as part of the hosting decision. A low-cost VPS may be a poor fit if you do not want to administer the server, while a managed option may cost more or offer a different level of control. Hermes’s platform support documentation, configuration documentation, and project documentation describe supported execution and configuration options.
What the “11 hosts tested” claim establishes
The Cybernews page is titled “Best VPS for Hermes Agent in 2026: Top 11 Hosts We Tested,” and its search listing says the team evaluated and ranked 11 providers. That confirms the page makes a testing claim; it does not, by itself, establish the test dates, workloads, repeated measurements, regions, reliability window, or raw results. Without that methodology and comparable current plan data, a trustworthy recommendation should not present the 11 hosts as independently verified winners.
