There is no VPN proven to work with every Netflix catalog, in every country, on every device, or indefinitely. In 2026 comparison tests, results vary by provider and region, and Netflix says VPN users may see only titles licensed worldwide. Treat any recommendation as a dated result for a particular region—not a guarantee of access.
Which VPNs are worth considering for Netflix in 2026?
Recent review roundups include NordVPN, Proton VPN, ExpressVPN, and Private Internet Access among their Netflix candidates. Their published findings are not a single consensus ranking: the reviewers use different methods, and a result for one Netflix region does not establish a result for another.

Security.org’s page, last updated August 24, 2026, says it tested 15 high-rated VPNs and names these use cases in its roundup:
- NordVPN: its pick for unblocking.
- Proton VPN: its pick for multiple libraries.
- Private Internet Access: its pick for streaming-optimized U.S. servers.
- ExpressVPN: its pick for TVs, set-top boxes, and consoles.
- UltraVPN: its affordable option.
These are Security.org’s findings, not assurances of current access or a universal ranking. Its evaluation considered regional unblocking, sustained speed and 4K capability, VPN-detection resistance, and how often servers are refreshed. See Security.org’s Netflix VPN comparison for its dated review and current details.

Why Netflix VPN results differ by country
A VPN changes the apparent network location of a device. Netflix licensing and VPN detection can vary across catalogs, so a provider that reached one country’s library in a test may fail to reach another’s. TechRadar’s 2026 comparison reports separate pass/fail results for the U.S., U.K., Australia/New Zealand, Canada, and Japan, rather than one global result. It also describes access as a changing contest because streaming services block VPN IP addresses. Its rankings and results are specific to its tests; see TechRadar’s 2026 Netflix VPN guide.
Comparitech’s live results illustrate why a single “works with Netflix” label is inadequate. Its page, updated October 7, 2026, reports outcomes across the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Japan, and Italy, distinguishing unblocking, partial, and blocked results. It displays 5/64 passes across the Netflix checks shown, alongside a 28-day measurement window and 7.0K stream tests reported by its VPN Intelligence Platform. Those figures describe that page’s displayed checks and scope; they are not the probability that any viewer will succeed. Comparitech also says Netflix is its toughest measured streaming service, and its Streaming score uses Netflix and BBC iPlayer. See Comparitech’s regional Netflix VPN results for the live measurements.

How to choose for your own setup
Start with the catalog you actually want and the device you plan to watch on. A useful recommendation should be supported by a test for that target country, not merely a general claim that the VPN supports streaming.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Target region: look for a dated result for the specific Netflix country you intend to access.
- Playback quality: consider sustained streaming speed and whether the testing source evaluated high-resolution playback, rather than relying on a single connection-speed figure.
- Repeat-session reliability: one successful connection is not evidence that access will persist. Check whether the reviewer reports repeated sessions or describes how access recovers when an IP address is blocked.
- Device support: verify the provider’s current app support for your television, streaming device, phone, or computer. TechRadar lists Amazon Fire TV as a general compatibility category, but that does not establish support for every model or show that buying different hardware improves access.
- Privacy and security: streaming capability is only one part of a VPN choice. Review evidence about leak protection, a kill switch, and the provider’s privacy policy.
- Total subscription terms: compare the full cost, renewal price and timing, refund or trial conditions, and cancellation steps. Promotional pricing alone does not show what a subscription will cost over time.
TechRadar’s 2026 ranking includes NordVPN, Proton VPN, ExpressVPN, and Private Internet Access, while Tom’s Guide reports checks using a Dell laptop and iPhone 11 across multiple locations and evaluates desktop and mobile setup and use. Those methods provide context, not interchangeable results. Prices, server counts, and offers on review pages can change. Tom’s Guide’s current listing is at Tom’s Guide’s Netflix VPN guide. PCWorld also publishes a 2026 VPN comparison based on hands-on evaluation and benchmarking, but its available Netflix-specific scoring does not support quoting a ranking or outcome here: PCWorld’s VPN comparison.

What Netflix says VPN users can expect
Netflix warns that a VPN can make a device or network appear to connect from somewhere other than its physical location. When it detects VPN use, a viewer may see only titles Netflix has worldwide licensing for. Netflix advises disconnecting the VPN to see titles available in the viewer’s region.
Netflix Help Center states: “VPNs aren’t supported for watching Live events on Netflix or if you’re on an ad-supported experience.” A VPN recommendation therefore does not mean that VPN use is supported for these experiences or overrides Netflix’s licensing, plan, or service restrictions. Read Netflix’s guidance on TV shows and movies through a VPN.

What to do if Netflix says you’re using a VPN
Netflix’s suggested check can help determine whether the connection appears to come from another country:
- On a device connected to the same network as the one used for Netflix, open a web browser and go to fast.com.
- Select “Show more info.”
- Find the country beside “Client.” If it differs from your physical location, Netflix says a VPN may be active; try turning it off.
If you need help disabling a VPN, Netflix directs you to your VPN provider, internet service provider, or network administrator. Netflix Customer Service cannot give service-specific instructions for shutting a VPN down.

How to read “best Netflix VPN” lists
Look for the test date, target country, device, and method before trusting a ranking. A reviewer’s test demonstrates only what happened under its conditions; it does not guarantee that the same server or catalog will work later. Regional live measurements, such as Comparitech’s, can add a useful snapshot, but their counts are scoped to the regions, providers, and measurement period shown. Recheck the relevant review and Netflix’s current guidance before subscribing or troubleshooting.
