For Salesforce, the right VPN is usually the one your organization approves and manages—not a consumer VPN picked from a review list. Salesforce IP controls can depend on the public IP address your traffic exits from, so ask your Salesforce administrator to confirm the approved VPN and its egress addresses before changing how you sign in. No particular VPN provider or consumer plan is established here as the best choice for Salesforce.
What “best VPN for Salesforce” means in practice
Salesforce’s guidance discusses VPNs in the context of corporate login IP addresses and access controls. The practical choice is therefore an organization-managed VPN with egress addresses known to the Salesforce administrator. A consumer VPN should not be assumed to satisfy an employer’s network policy or a Salesforce org’s configured restrictions; acceptance depends on that organization’s settings.

This is not a provider compatibility ranking. No named VPN vendor has been tested here for Salesforce login, speed, reliability, or current pricing. Salesforce Trailhead describes approved IP addresses for login access as commonly being addresses belonging to a corporate VPN: Optimize Your Salesforce Security Settings.

Salesforce has two distinct IP-control mechanisms that are easy to confuse. One can reduce identity-verification challenges from known locations; the other can prevent a profile from logging in from addresses outside its allowed ranges. Ask the administrator which control applies before adding a VPN address.

Org-wide trusted IP ranges
Trusted IP ranges primarily affect identity verification. Users signing in from outside the trusted ranges can still log in after completing a challenge, usually with a code sent to a mobile device or email. Salesforce describes the purpose as allowing users on listed addresses to log in without receiving an identity-verification challenge. See Set Trusted IP Ranges for Your Org.
Under its Winter ’26 guidance, Salesforce lists limits of 16,777,216 IPv4 addresses and 2^99 IPv6 addresses for trusted ranges. These are Salesforce-published limits, not security recommendations; check the current Salesforce guidance and your organization’s needs before relying on them.

Profile-based login IP restrictions
Profile-based restrictions can deny a user’s login when the source IP is outside the ranges specified for that profile. Salesforce identifies VPN or public corporate-network IP addresses as relevant to this configuration. Adding an address here can therefore have a different and more consequential effect than adding it as a trusted range. See Salesforce’s Salesforce Network Access and Profile-Based IP Restrictions, published June 5, 2026.
What to confirm with your Salesforce administrator
- Which control applies? Ask whether the issue concerns org-wide trusted ranges, profile-based login restrictions, or another organization policy. Confirm whether the goal is to reduce challenges or to block logins outside approved networks.
- Which VPN is approved? Confirm the organization-managed VPN or other approved access route. Do not substitute a personal VPN without authorization.
- What are the actual egress addresses? Ask for the public IP ranges from which Salesforce traffic will appear, and whether they are stable enough to configure. A VPN connection alone does not establish that its exit addresses match the organization’s policy.
- Who and what must keep working? Have the administrator account for Salesforce users, mobile access, and integrations that may connect from different locations or networks. A restriction that works for one desktop login can still disrupt legitimate access elsewhere.
- Is IP allowlisting the right method? Confirm whether the organization’s Salesforce infrastructure and security policy call for IP ranges or another supported approach. Salesforce’s guidance for core services cautions that allowlisting is not its preferred or recommended method in the described context of preventing internet traffic intended for Salesforce from being hijacked or rerouted. For Hyperforce customers, Salesforce points to options such as mutual TLS (mTLS) or allowing domains. See Salesforce Core Services – IP Addresses and Domains to Allow, published April 1, 2026.
VPN and IP-control evaluation checklist
- Organization control: Is the VPN managed and approved by the employer or Salesforce administrator?
- Configurable egress: Can the administrator identify the public exit addresses and keep the Salesforce configuration aligned when they change?
- Coverage: Does the approved setup account for desktop and mobile users as well as integrations, without blocking legitimate sign-ins?
- Fit with infrastructure: Does the organization’s Salesforce environment favor IP allowlisting, or does its policy use another option?
- Identity protection: Are IP controls combined with MFA rather than treated as the only protection? Salesforce’s Security Best Practices provides broader security guidance.
Combine network controls with MFA
An approved VPN or IP range is one layer of access control, not a substitute for multifactor authentication. Salesforce lists registered U2F security keys among identity-verification methods. A key is an optional MFA accessory, not a VPN and not a guaranteed fix for a login blocked by an IP restriction. Confirm the supported key standard and identity-provider configuration with your organization before buying one.

- Commercial-grade Security Anywhere – Protect your home network with AiProtection Classic, powered by Trend Micro. And when away from home, ASUS Instant Guard gives you a one-click secure VPN.
Bottom line: choose the approved route, not a VPN brand
For Salesforce access, ask your administrator for the approved VPN or corporate network and its confirmed egress ranges. Then verify whether the relevant setting is a trusted range or a profile login restriction, and whether IP allowlisting is appropriate for your organization. Without those details, a consumer VPN recommendation would be a guess rather than a reliable answer.
