There is no evidence-based VPN that is best for everyone in Mauritius. If you need a Mauritian IP address, NordVPN and Proton VPN currently advertise Mauritius locations; if you need an IP in another country or protection on unfamiliar Wi-Fi, choose according to that goal instead. These listings do not establish that servers are physically on the island, and no hands-on speed, privacy or streaming tests are available here. Check current features, prices and service terms directly before subscribing.
Which VPNs advertise a Mauritius location?
As of October 4, 2026, NordVPN’s server directory lists Mauritius, while Proton VPN’s Mauritius page advertises servers and a Mauritian IP address. These are provider-reported listings; they do not establish the physical location of the machines or guarantee access to a particular website or streaming service.

| Provider | Mauritius location information | Other advertised details | What remains unverified here |
|---|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Its official server directory lists Mauritius. | Not stated on the cited location listing. | Physical server location, performance from your connection and compatibility with any named streaming service. |
| Proton VPN | Its official page advertises servers and a Mauritian IP in Mauritius. | The page advertises encryption, WireGuard and VPN Accelerator; feature availability may depend on the current plan. | Physical server location, actual performance for you and compatibility with any named streaming service. |
The providers’ claims describe their offerings, not independent audits of every aspect of their services. For broader context, Comparitech’s September 2026 guide and TechRadar’s September 24, 2026 guide offer dated third-party comparisons. Their rankings and performance results belong to those publishers and dates; they are not tests of your connection.

Get a Mauritian IP address
Start with a provider that currently advertises a Mauritius location, then confirm that the location is available in the app and plan you intend to use. A location listing is useful evidence that the provider offers that exit-country choice, but it is not proof of physical server geography or of access to a particular local service.

Use an IP address in another country
Check the provider’s current list for the specific country you need. The best choice depends on the destination you require and your connection—not simply on whether a provider has a Mauritius listing.
Protect traffic on unfamiliar Wi-Fi
Mauritius CERT’s 2023 Guideline on Wireless Security discusses VPNs as a tool for handheld devices using wireless networks. A VPN routes traffic through a VPN server and encrypts network activity, but it is only one protective measure. It does not make public Wi-Fi risk-free or protect you from every threat.

How to compare VPNs before subscribing
- Locations: Confirm that the provider offers the exit-country locations you actually need, and that they are available in your chosen app and plan.
- Privacy and security documentation: Read the provider’s privacy policy and look for clear documentation and independent assurance. A VPN can mask your apparent IP and location, but do not treat that as a promise of anonymity.
- Apps and devices: Check support for the operating systems and devices you use, along with current plan limitations.
- Performance: Test the service on your own connection if possible. Mozilla’s general guidance notes that choosing a nearer VPN server can help speed and reliability; that is not a Mauritius-specific performance measurement. See Mozilla’s server-location guidance.
- Streaming: Confirm compatibility with the specific streaming service before paying. Availability can change, and a server in a country does not establish that a broadcaster will work through it.
- Price and terms: Check the current price, renewal amount, refund conditions and service terms directly with the provider. Prices and promotions change.
- Support: Review how the provider handles troubleshooting and account questions, especially if you need a specific location for work or travel.
This is a comparison framework, not a tested ranking. Provider features and prices can change; verify them at the point of purchase.
Will a VPN let you watch MBC or another service from abroad?
There is no verified current compatibility information here for MBC or any other named broadcaster. A VPN may change the IP address a service sees, but it cannot guarantee that the service will accept the connection. Check the broadcaster’s terms and the VPN provider’s current information before subscribing, and do not assume that a Mauritius server listing means MBC will work.

What a VPN does—and does not—protect
Mozilla’s explanation of how Mozilla VPN works describes encryption of network activity and masking of a user’s IP address and apparent location through a VPN server. Those are general VPN functions, not a guarantee that every provider handles data identically. A VPN does not by itself prevent malware, phishing or every form of tracking. Use it as one layer alongside secure websites, updated devices and careful handling of links and downloads.
