If you specifically need a Cyprus IP address, Proton VPN is the clearest documented option in the available evidence: the provider advertises servers in Cyprus for subscribers. Its free plan is not a dependable choice for selecting Cyprus, because Proton says it connects free users to servers in five randomly selected countries. This is a decision guide, not a Cyprus-specific performance ranking; the evidence does not establish a definitive paid winner.
What “best VPN for Cyprus” means
The right choice depends on whether you need a Cyprus-associated IP, a particular country that you can select yourself, privacy evidence, or access to a streaming service. Those are separate requirements. A provider advertising a Cyprus server establishes availability as a provider claim, not measured speed, reliable streaming access, or independent verification of performance from Cyprus.

- Need a Cyprus IP: Check the provider’s current server list and whether the location is available on the plan you intend to use.
- Need to choose Cyprus on a free plan: Confirm that the plan allows manual country selection; a free VPN that assigns locations randomly may not meet this need.
- Prioritize privacy: Examine what the provider says about logging and what independent reviews or audits actually cover. Do not treat one kind of evidence as proof of another.
- Need streaming access: Look for current, service-specific evidence. A provider’s general streaming claim is not a guarantee that a particular service will work.
Cyprus VPN options supported by the available evidence
| Option | Cyprus location evidence | Free-plan country selection | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN | Proton advertises servers in Cyprus and says subscribers can connect through them to obtain a Cypriot IP. Proton VPN’s Cyprus page | Proton says its free plan connects users to servers in five randomly selected countries, so it does not establish that free users can select Cyprus. Proton VPN’s plan comparison | A documented candidate when a Cyprus IP is the priority, subject to checking current plan and location details. An independent 2026 roundup ranks NordVPN highly overall and identifies Proton VPN as a privacy-oriented option, but those are the publisher’s editorial judgments, not Cyprus-specific test results. See TechRadar’s best VPN roundup (published September 24, 2026). For free-plan context, Tom’s Guide’s September 2, 2026 review describes Proton’s free tier as having no manual server choice; plan features can change, so check the current plan terms directly. Not if your requirement is reliably choosing Cyprus based on the documented plan terms. Proton says free users connect to servers in five randomly selected countries. Random country assignment does not provide evidence that Cyprus will be available or selectable when you need it. Proton’s paid service is the documented route to its advertised Cyprus location, but verify the current server list and plan comparison before subscribing: features and availability may change.

How to assess privacy claims
A no-logs statement is a provider’s policy claim; an independent review or audit can add evidence about the scope and date of an assessment. It does not by itself demonstrate a particular server’s speed, location performance, streaming compatibility, or all aspects of a service’s operation.
NordVPN says Deloitte conducted its fourth, fifth and sixth no-logs reviews in 2023, 2024 and 2025. That chronology is relevant as provider-reported privacy-review history, but it does not establish that NordVPN has Cyprus servers or performs better for Cyprus users. The available information does not support a broader comparative privacy verdict across paid providers.

Streaming, price and refunds: verify before choosing
Proton’s Cyprus page promotes local streaming and privacy uses, but those are the provider’s claims rather than independent tests of named services. The available evidence does not establish reliable access to specific streaming platforms across providers, comparative Cyprus speeds, current paid-plan prices, or refund terms.
- Confirm that Cyprus is currently listed and available on the exact plan you are considering.
- Check whether the plan lets you select a country manually, especially if choosing Cyprus is essential.
- Verify streaming compatibility for the specific service and region you need; general marketing language is not a guarantee.
- Review the provider’s current checkout terms for price, billing period, renewal, and refund eligibility before paying.
How to make the choice
- If a Cyprus IP is essential: Start with a provider whose current official location list explicitly includes Cyprus. Proton VPN advertises this location for subscribers; confirm its current terms at the Cyprus server page.
- If you need a free plan: Check the current country-selection rules rather than assuming free access includes your chosen location. Proton states that its free plan uses five randomly selected countries, which does not meet a documented need for manual Cyprus selection. Review the current plan comparison.
- If privacy is your deciding factor: Compare the exact scope and dates of independent assessments with the provider’s policy claims. Treat rankings as editorial judgments, not as Cyprus performance measurements.
- If streaming or cost matters most: Verify the named service, current subscription price, and refund terms directly before purchasing; the available evidence does not settle those comparisons.
Because Cyprus-specific paid-provider testing and comparable current subscription terms are not established here, naming an overall paid winner would overstate the evidence.
