What the available surveys do show is rising reported use and intent to adopt. The practical choice is the platform that fits your calls, markets, systems, governance requirements, and ability to measure results.
Are companies using AI voice agents in production?
Yes, according to a 2026 survey by AVOXI and Metrigy: 55% of the surveyed organizations said they already used AI voice agents, and 92% said they used them or planned to use them within two years. The survey covered 200 IT, contact-center, and customer-experience leaders at multinational companies across seven industries. These figures describe that sample, not all companies, and reported use or plans do not establish preference or prove business outcomes.

Adoption was higher among the largest organizations in the same survey: 71% of organizations with more than 10,000 employees reported current use. That is a result for this employee-size subgroup, not a claim about every large company.

What are AI voice agents being used for?
The AVOXI and Metrigy 2026 survey suggests that enterprise use is not limited to replacing customer-service representatives. Among organizations using AI voice, the reported applications included:
- Authentication and identity verification: 81%.
- Transactions: 69%.
- Real-time assistance to human agents: 68%.
On the role of the technology, 67% said AI voice helps human agents focus on more complex or empathetic cases; 17% said it replaces Tier 1 agents entirely. These are respondents’ reports about their use, not a measured comparison of service quality or cost.

Which voice AI platforms belong on an enterprise shortlist?
Gartner’s public abstract for its July 7, 2026 Magic Quadrant for Conversational AI Platforms names 14 vendors covered in the full research. They are a research-backed starting longlist, not a ranked list, endorsement, or voice-only ranking:
- Avaamo
- Boost.ai
- Druid AI
- IBM
- Kore.ai
- Netomi
- NiCE Cognigy
- Omilia
- PolyAI
- Salesforce
- SoundHound AI
- Sprinklr
- Yellow.ai
The abstract describes a market changing around multimodality, agentic AI, governance, and mergers and acquisitions. Gartner’s detailed vendor analysis is not available in the public abstract, so it does not establish which vendor performs best, what each is especially strong or weak at, or which is best for voice specifically.

How should you compare enterprise voice AI platforms?
Match the platform to a bounded workflow
Start by specifying the call types and outcomes you want to handle: for example, verify identity, complete a defined transaction, answer a service question, support a live agent, or route a caller. Set boundaries in advance: which actions the agent may take, what information it can access, and what situations require transfer to a person. A focused job is easier to evaluate than a vague mandate to automate customer service.
Check languages, countries, and telephony
Confirm that speech recognition, phone-number availability, carrier connectivity, and the required infrastructure work in every intended market. In the AVOXI and Metrigy 2026 survey, organizations served customers in an average of 37 countries but had production AI voice deployments in an average of 17. Respondents identified local-language speech recognition and telephony gaps among the deployment challenges. A vendor’s broad global presence is not proof that a specific language, number type, or calling route is supported where you need it.

- Two Mics for Two-Person Recording: Two transmitters capture two speakers at the same time for interviews, podcasts, teaching and collaborative videos. The 2.4 GHz wireless system provides approximately 30 ms low latency and up to 65 ft (20 m) range in open areas
Make security and governance concrete
Ask vendors to document how the service handles data residency and sovereignty, privacy, call recording and retention, access control, audit trails, compliance requirements, and escalation. In the same 2026 survey, 61% cited security and compliance as barriers to broader deployment, while 51% cited data sovereignty and privacy. Request evidence relevant to your organization and target markets rather than relying on a general assurance.
Map integrations and operating constraints
Validate connections to the CRM and contact-center systems involved in the workflow, as well as SIP and carrier arrangements. Check whether the proposed deployment fits your cloud or on-premises constraints and who will operate each component. Also account for the work required to maintain multiple providers or consolidate existing telephony and AI services; the survey identified infrastructure and telephony gaps as issues, but does not specify a solution that fits every environment.

Evaluate real outcomes, not just a convincing demo
Compare candidates using the same representative calls, including ordinary requests, ambiguous speech, interruptions, edge cases, and situations that should trigger a handoff. Measure against your current process: correct resolution, customer satisfaction, time to resolution, transfer quality, and effect on human-agent workload. Review failures as well as successful calls, and monitor behavior after launch as workflows or underlying systems change.
Coval’s 2026 report, published by a voice AI provider, advocates systematic testing, multi-model orchestration, and ongoing improvement. That is a vendor perspective, not independent proof that a particular method or platform outperforms alternatives.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is a practical way to select and pilot a platform?
- Choose one high-value workflow. Define the intended callers, the task, permitted actions, success criteria, and the conditions for human escalation.
- Record a baseline. Capture how the existing process performs on the same workflow, including resolution, customer experience, time to resolution, handoffs, and agent workload.
- Screen for hard requirements. Remove candidates that cannot meet your required integrations, countries, languages, telephony setup, or governance needs.
- Run comparable tests. Give each remaining candidate the same call scenarios and evaluate outcomes, edge cases, failures, and transfers rather than judging voice naturalness alone.
- Pilot with human escalation. Keep a clear route to a person, inspect real calls, and track the agreed measures during the pilot.
- Expand only after reviewing results. Address failure patterns and operational gaps before adding workflows or markets.
This is a decision process inferred from the reported deployment constraints and Coval’s vendor-published evaluation recommendations; it is not a tested ranking of platforms.

Quick Recap
What the adoption figures cannot tell you
- They do not show preference. The AVOXI and Metrigy findings measure reported use and plans, not whether companies prefer voice agents to human service, chat, or other automation.
- They do not prove outcomes. Adoption does not by itself establish better resolution, lower costs, or higher customer satisfaction.
- They do not name a universal winner. Gartner’s public abstract lists vendors but does not expose the detailed comparative analysis needed to substantiate a best platform.
- They do not settle local fit. The cited material does not verify current vendor pricing, specific feature claims, or availability in each country. Confirm those details with vendors for your intended deployment.
