Best Unmetered Bandwidth VPS Plans in 2026: What the Limits Really Mean

“Unmetered” VPS hosting usually means you are not billed by the gigabyte—not that a server can transfer data at unlimited speed. A port-speed ceiling, shared network capacity, fair-use terms, or a regional quota can still constrain traffic. Compare those conditions alongside server specs and price before choosing a plan.

For a Linux VPS option, Antihost VPS provides full root access, NVMe storage, and unlimited traffic on a 1 Gbps port in the USA East, Netherlands, and Ukraine.

What does unmetered bandwidth mean on a VPS?

It generally describes billing: the provider does not count transferred gigabytes toward a per-GB charge. WebHostingBreak’s comparison page puts it this way: “Unmetered plans do not count gigabytes. Instead, your throughput is limited by the port speed.” That is a useful distinction, but the exact terms still depend on the provider and plan. WebHostingBreak’s comparison page

A VPS advertised with a 500 Mbps port is not necessarily able to sustain that rate continuously. The port may be shared among virtual machines, and network congestion or other policy limits can reduce the usable throughput. Check whether the listed figure is shared or dedicated, whether it describes burst or sustained capacity, and whether it applies to inbound traffic, outbound traffic, or both.

Is unmetered the same as unlimited bandwidth?

No. “Unmetered” often means there is no per-gigabyte charge, while “unlimited” is marketing language whose practical meaning depends on the terms. Neither word, by itself, establishes an uncapped port, dedicated capacity, unrestricted workloads, or unlimited transfer at full speed. Look for a stated speed, quota, fair-use policy, and what happens if usage exceeds a limit.

How to compare unmetered VPS plans

  1. Check the port speed and how it is delivered. Find the listed Mbps or Gbps rate, then establish whether it is shared or dedicated and whether it is a burst ceiling or sustained allocation.
  2. Read traffic direction and quota terms. Confirm how inbound and outbound data are treated, and look for monthly caps, fair-use thresholds, or speed reductions.
  3. Check the region and route. Terms can vary by market or datacenter. Confirm the plan’s location and whether the route serves your users or workloads well.
  4. Compare the server itself. Evaluate CPU, RAM, storage type and capacity, DDoS protection, uptime or SLA terms, support, refund policy, billing interval, and renewal price—not only traffic wording.
  5. Match capacity to the workload. File mirrors, downloads, media delivery, backups, update servers, busy APIs, and unpredictable traffic spikes can benefit from predictable transfer billing. They still need enough real throughput and a policy that permits the intended usage.

Representative unmetered VPS offers and caveats

The examples below are provider- or comparison-page claims, not independent performance tests. They show why “unmetered” should not be treated as a uniform technical specification. Prices and plan details can change; check the provider’s current terms for your location before ordering.

Provider and offer Published bandwidth terms Other stated details Important qualification
voxa.host, six VPS tiers Unmetered traffic; listed port speeds run from 100 Mbps on Ion to 300 Mbps on Titan. Ion is listed at €4.50/month with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, and 20 GB SSD. Titan is listed at €64/month with 8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, and 120 GB SSD. Prices are in EUR excluding VAT. The provider says the port is capped at the listed speed and the host uplink is shared among virtual machines, so the card rate is not a dedicated-throughput promise. Plan cards were accessed October 7, 2026. voxa.host VPS plans
FDC Servers, VPS range The provider advertises unmetered speeds from 10 Mbps to 50 Gbps. It advertises AMD EPYC hardware and NVMe-only storage. A displayed high-tier configuration lists 24 EPYC CPUs, 128 GB RAM, 2,000 GB NVMe, five IP addresses, root access, snapshot backups, and $699.99/month. These are provider claims, not independently verified performance or value. Product page accessed October 7, 2026. FDC Servers VPS
OVHcloud UK, VPS plans The UK page describes unmetered plans with plan-dependent speeds from 250 Mbps to 2 Gbps. Plan specifications vary by tier. The page states an Asia-Pacific exception: VPS-1 and VPS-2 have 1 TB monthly quotas; VPS-3 and VPS-4 have 3 TB; VPS-5 and VPS-6 have 4 TB. After a quota, speed is capped at 10 Mbps. These quotas apply to the Asia-Pacific VPS options described on the UK page; check local terms for other markets. Page accessed October 7, 2026. OVHcloud UK VPS
Contabo, Cloud VPS Plus 4 Search-result listing describes a 500 Mbit/s port and “Unlimited Traffic*.” The US pricing result lists 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 150 GB NVMe, and $10.80/month. The excerpt says incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered and that usage must align with typical server workloads. The full policy and current price were not verified on the page; confirm both before purchase. Contabo US pricing
Contabo, Storage VPS 30 Search-result listing describes a 600 Mbit/s port and “Unlimited Traffic*.” The US pricing result lists 6 vCPU, 18 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, and $11.20/month. The excerpt says incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered and that usage must align with typical server workloads. The full policy and current price were not verified on the page; confirm both before purchase. Contabo US pricing
Unmeterd, managed VPS search-result offer Search result advertises a 10 Gbps managed VPS. Listed from $8.49/month with 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, and 50 GB NVMe. This is a search-result/provider claim; reconfirm the current configuration, price, and terms on the relevant checkout page. Unmeterd
Unmeterd, unmetered server search-result offer Search result advertises 10 Gbps unmetered servers. Listed from $539/month. This is a search-result/provider claim; reconfirm availability, price, and terms on the relevant checkout page. Unmeterd

What the examples show about hidden limits

A listed port speed is not necessarily dedicated capacity

voxa.host explicitly says its host uplink is shared. A plan’s listed speed therefore describes a cap, not a guarantee that one VPS can sustain that rate at all times. Ask the provider what the figure represents and whether capacity is shared.

Regional quotas can override an unmetered label

OVHcloud UK’s Asia-Pacific terms illustrate why the country or region matters: the stated monthly quota depends on VPS tier, and the stated post-quota remedy is a 10 Mbps speed cap. Do not apply those Asia-Pacific terms to every OVHcloud market or VPS region.

Fair use can depend on workload

Contabo’s search-result excerpt says traffic must align with typical server workloads. That condition matters for sustained high-volume distribution: a plan labeled “Unlimited Traffic” may still be subject to acceptable-use or workload policies. Read the complete current policy rather than inferring permission from the label.

How many plans are in this comparison?

WebHostingBreak’s page title says “17 Plans,” but its visible listing says 1–12 of 17 providers, and its methodology says it compared 17 providers and 87 plans. Those figures are not interchangeable: the page body describes 17 providers and 87 plans, not 17 individual plans. Its stated comparison data-check period is May 13–September 17, 2026. Provider offers and terms may have changed since that snapshot, so use the comparison as a starting point rather than a current checkout quote. WebHostingBreak’s comparison page

Is no-per-GB billing worth choosing?

It can make costs more predictable when traffic varies or is consistently high, but the value depends on usable throughput and policy fit. DreamHost says its VPS has no transfer caps and no per-GB overage fees, subject to terms. In its own comparison, labeled “as of June 2026,” DreamHost reports that 10 TB/month of outbound transfer overage would cost $810 for AWS Lightsail, $90 for DigitalOcean, $75 for Vultr, and $45 for Linode/Akamai, compared with $0 overage on DreamHost. Those are DreamHost’s competitor figures based on stated rates after included allowances, not an independent audit or a universal current price comparison. DreamHost VPS

Before committing, compare the total monthly and renewal cost with the port, shared-capacity status, direction of transfer, quotas, regional terms, and workload rules. A lower per-GB bill does not help if a speed cap or fair-use restriction conflicts with the traffic you need to serve.
