Compare ingredient lists for moisturizing ingredients and follow the product’s application directions. COSRX’s official list for its 5 PDRN Collagen Vitalizing Hydrogel Eye Patch includes glycerin and several forms of hyaluronic acid, alongside niacinamide and caffeine (COSRX ingredient list). Those ingredients make the formula a reasonable one to compare if hydration is your priority, but their presence does not guarantee a particular result.

For the appearance of puffiness
Look for products that clearly state their intended cosmetic benefit and explain how to use them. LANEIGE highlights caffeine and niacinamide in its Bouncy & Firm Hydrogel Eye Patches. The brand reports that an instrumental evaluation found improved appearance of under-eye puffiness after 20 minutes in 32 subjects (LANEIGE product page). This is a brand-reported, product-specific result, not an independent comparison with other patches.
For the appearance of dark circles
Dark circles have multiple possible contributors, so a patch may not address the factor responsible for an individual’s appearance. LANEIGE reports that 96% of 32 subjects self-assessed a reduced appearance of dark circles after two weeks. That is a brand-reported self-assessment, not a category-wide estimate or proof of lasting change (LANEIGE product page).

What the evidence does—and does not—show
The evidence available for these examples is not an independent comparison of patch effectiveness across puffiness, dark circles, and dryness. LANEIGE’s reported results are specific to its product and study methods. The COSRX ingredient list describes a formula, not a clinical outcome.
A 2024 Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology article evaluated a multicorrective topical eye cream in an IRB-approved, open-label, 12-week study. It enrolled 40 women aged 35–60, and 37 completed the study. Because it tested a cream rather than a patch, its results should not be presented as evidence that eye patches deliver the same effects (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology article).

A 2015 study examined a specific eye-pad formulation containing caffeine and vitamin K in an emulsified emu-oil base. Findings about that formulation should not be generalized to all under-eye patches (Journal of Research in Pharmacy Practice study).

- For the DailyMed-listed eye mask gel, the label says to avoid eye contact and broken skin. Stop use and ask a doctor if you develop a rash, peeling, severe irritation, or signs of an allergic reaction.
