Best TVs Under $700 in 2026: Top Picks by Size, Room, and Gaming

For most shoppers, the best TV under $700 is the 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro when its current price is within your budget. RTINGS’ October 8, 2026 budget guide selected the U6SF Pro over the TCL QM6K for a better overall experience, while Tom’s Guide lists a 55-inch version with Mini-LED backlighting, HDMI 2.1, 4K gaming up to 120Hz or 144Hz with VRR, and a source-time Best Buy sale price of $499. That $499 figure was a 2026 promotion, not a guaranteed current offer.

Your best choice changes with the room and your use. The TCL QM6K is worth considering for motion handling and Google TV, the Hisense U75QG is the gaming-focused option, and the 65-inch-class Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4K can make sense when size matters more than high-refresh gaming. Every price and stock statement should be checked for the exact diagonal and regional model on the day you buy.

Best TVs under $700 at a glance

TV and size Best fit Important specifications Trade-offs
Hisense U6SF Pro, 55-inch Best overall for mixed viewing Mini-LED; four HDMI inputs; two HDMI 2.1 inputs; 4K at 120Hz or up to 144Hz with VRR, according to Tom’s Guide Blooming in dark scenes; Fire TV interface drawbacks
TCL QM6K, 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, or 98-inch Motion handling and Google TV 4K; native 144Hz; two HDMI 2.1 ports; VRR; Dolby Vision; HDR10+; local dimming Lower brightness and much worse reflection handling than the U6SF Pro in RTINGS’ comparison; blooming; limited viewing angles
Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4K VQM65C-1004, 65-inch class Large screen on a tight budget Mini-LED; decent black levels; enough brightness for some overhead-light glare in a moderately lit room Visible blooming; distracting reflections in bright rooms; motion blur; no HDMI 2.1; smaller Vizio OS app catalog
Hisense U75QG, exact size to be verified Console and high-refresh gaming 4K; 165Hz; Google TV; four HDMI 2.1 ports Reflective screen; poor off-axis viewing; middling audio; Tom’s Guide measured 9.6ms input latency in its testing
Hisense QD7, exact size to be verified Lower-cost general viewing 60Hz; Fire TV Sluggish interface; difficult in well-lit rooms; must remain under $700 in your chosen size

The table compares capabilities reported by RTINGS and Tom’s Guide. It does not establish that every diagonal has the same panel, ports, brightness, or sale price. Check the exact model number before checkout.

How to choose the right TV under $700

Start with the diagonal and viewing distance

A lower price on one size does not transfer to another. The reported $499 promotion applied to the 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro and was shown against a prior price of $749. It is not evidence that a 65-inch or 75-inch U6SF Pro costs the same. Likewise, the TCL QM6K guide lists 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, and 98-inch versions, but each diagonal needs its own current listing and price check.

#1 Best Overall
INSIGNIA 43" Class F50 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV, Voice Remote with Alexa, Stream Live TV Without Cable
  • 4k Ultra HD (2160p resolution): Enjoy breathtaking HDR10 4K movies and TV shows at 4 times the resolution of Full HD, and upscale your current content to Ultra HD-level picture quality.
  • High Dynamic Range: Provides a wide range of color details and sharper contrast, from the brightest whites to the deepest blacks.
  • All-in-one: Get right to your good stuff. With Fire TV, you can enjoy a world of entertainment from apps like Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max. Plus, stream for free with Fire TV Channels, Pluto TV, Tubi, and more. Access over 1.8 million movies and TV episodes. Subscriptions may be required. Feature and content availability may vary.
  • Smart Home: Your smart home hub. Pair Fire TV with compatible smart home devices to see live camera feeds, use AirPlay, control your lighting and thermostat, and more.
  • Free Content: Stream for free. Access over 1 million free movies and TV episodes from popular ad-supported streaming apps like Fire TV Channels, Tubi, and Pluto TV. Subscriptions may be required. Feature and content availability may vary.

Measure the wall or stand first, then reserve money for a sturdy stand if the television will not be mounted. A larger screen is useful for sports and group viewing, but a cheap 65-inch model with poor reflection control can be less enjoyable than a brighter 55-inch model in a sunny room.

Match the panel to the room

In a bright room, two characteristics matter more than a headline HDR label: peak brightness and reflection handling. Direct windows and overhead lights can wash out dark details or appear as large mirror-like patches. RTINGS specifically describes the TCL QM6K as having significantly worse reflection handling than the Hisense U6SF Pro. The Vizio VQM65C-1004 can handle some overhead-light glare in a moderately lit room, but its reflections become distracting in brighter spaces. The Hisense U75QG is also described as reflective.

For a dark movie room, local dimming and black-level control help, but none of these LCD or Mini-LED televisions should be treated as an OLED substitute. Blooming can appear as a halo around subtitles, stars, or bright objects against a black background. RTINGS reports blooming on both the Hisense U6SF Pro and TCL QM6K, while the Vizio model is also described as showing visible blooming.

Separate console needs from PC ambitions

For a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series console, look for 4K at 120Hz, variable refresh rate, and at least one HDMI 2.1 input. The Hisense U6SF Pro has two HDMI 2.1 inputs and is reported to support 4K gaming at 120Hz or up to 144Hz with VRR. The Hisense U75QG lists four HDMI 2.1 ports and a 165Hz refresh rate, making it the most ambitious gaming specification in this group. Tom’s Guide reports 9.6ms input latency for the U75QG in its own testing; that is the publisher’s result, not an independently replicated measurement.

The TCL QM6K has two HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, and a native 144Hz refresh rate. That makes it attractive for a gaming setup, although its lower brightness and weaker reflection handling remain relevant outside games. The Vizio VQM65C-1004 has no HDMI 2.1, so do not buy it expecting a strong 4K high-frame-rate console or PC experience. Its motion blur warning is another reason to favor a different model for competitive play.

Detailed recommendations

Hisense U6SF Pro, 55-inch: the safest all-purpose pick

Choose the 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro when you want one television for streaming, broadcast or cable, sports, and occasional gaming. RTINGS’ October 8, 2026 budget guide replaced the TCL QM6K as its main recommendation with the U6SF Pro, saying it provides a better overall experience and is a better choice for most people. Tom’s Guide describes Mini-LED backlighting, four HDMI inputs, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, and 4K gaming at 120Hz or up to 144Hz with VRR.

Those features cover the needs of most sub-$700 buyers without forcing a choice between a decent movie picture and modern console support. Mini-LED backlighting and local dimming can improve contrast over a basic edge-lit set, and the HDMI 2.1 inputs leave room for a console and another high-bandwidth device.

There are two important compromises. First, blooming can be visible in dark scenes, so subtitles or bright objects may produce halos. Second, the Fire TV interface has drawbacks noted by the reviews. If you dislike a slower or ad-heavy smart-TV experience, plan to use a separate streaming device or select the Google TV-based TCL QM6K or Hisense U75QG instead.

Tom’s Guide reported a 55-inch Best Buy sale at $499 in 2026, reduced from a stated prior price of $749. Treat that as a dated example only: confirm the live price, seller, warranty, return policy, and exact regional model before ordering.

TCL QM6K: choose it for motion and Google TV

The TCL QM6K is a notable alternative rather than RTINGS’ current top budget recommendation. It is listed in 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, and 98-inch sizes, all with 4K resolution, a native 144Hz refresh rate, two HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, Google TV, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. Its local dimming and HDR support are useful for movies and games.

  • 4K UPSCALING: Upgrades what you watch to crisp 4K clarity. Upgrade your favorite shows, movies and more. Experience incredible details and clarity in every frame, even from lower-quality sources, with advanced upscaling technology.

RTINGS describes the QM6K as having better motion handling than the Hisense U6SF Pro. That distinction can matter for fast sports, camera pans, and games with rapid movement. Google TV also offers a different app and account experience from Fire TV, which may be the deciding factor if you already use Google services.

The compromises are equally specific: lower brightness, significantly worse reflection handling than the U6SF Pro, some blooming, muted colors compared with the Hisense U7SG, and limited viewing angles. Place it straight in front of the main seating position rather than expecting a wide room to see the same contrast and color. Verify the diagonal-specific price; a sale on the 55-inch model says nothing about the 75-inch or 98-inch listing.

Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4K VQM65C-1004, 65-inch class: the size-first option

The Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4K VQM65C-1004 is aimed at shoppers who would rather have a 65-inch-class screen than the strongest gaming feature set. RTINGS describes decent black levels and enough brightness to cope with some overhead-light glare in a moderately lit room. That can make it appealing for a family room where distance and screen size matter more than 4K high-refresh play.

Do not confuse its Mini-LED label with a complete premium experience. RTINGS reports visible blooming, distracting reflections in bright rooms, and motion blur. The television also lacks HDMI 2.1, which rules out the most useful one-cable path to 4K at 120Hz for current consoles. Vizio OS has a smaller app catalog than the major smart-TV platforms, so check that the services you use are available or budget for an external streamer.

Buy this model only after checking the actual stand width, screen reflections in your room, and the current price of the VQM65C-1004 listing. A large diagonal is not a bargain if the set cannot fit the furniture or the apps you need.

Hisense U75QG: the gaming-first specification

Tom’s Guide identifies the Hisense U75QG as its gaming pick. The listed specification is 4K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, Google TV, and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Those four ports are unusually convenient if you have several high-bandwidth sources, such as two consoles, a gaming PC, and an audio receiver.

Tom’s Guide also reports testing the U75QG with a PS5 and measuring 9.6ms of input latency. Attribute that number to Tom’s Guide’s test conditions; latency varies with picture mode, firmware, resolution, and measurement method. The model’s 165Hz capability is most relevant to a compatible PC. A PS5 or Xbox Series console generally supplies a maximum of 120 frames per second, so the extra headroom does not automatically make console games faster.

The U75QG has a reflective screen, poor off-axis viewing, and middling audio in Tom’s Guide’s assessment. Sit centered, control window glare, and consider a soundbar or receiver if dialogue and impact matter. The guide does not establish one universal price for every size, so verify the exact diagonal and live total before treating it as a sub-$700 pick.

Hisense QD7: a conditional budget choice

Tom’s Guide calls the Hisense QD7 its best budget TV and says it performs well across films, television, and games. Its 60Hz refresh rate is adequate for ordinary streaming and console play at standard frame rates, but it is not the right target for buyers specifically seeking 120Hz or higher.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The QD7 is difficult to recommend without a live size-specific price check. It must remain under $700 in the diagonal you want. Tom’s Guide also flags a sluggish Fire TV interface and poor performance in well-lit rooms. Choose it only when the listing is comfortably below budget and your room is not dominated by windows or strong overhead lighting.

Room-by-room buying guide

Sunny or brightly lit room

  • Prioritize brightness and reflection handling over a larger diagonal.
  • Avoid placing the screen opposite a window when possible.
  • Be cautious with the TCL QM6K and Hisense U75QG because the sources specifically report weak or distracting reflection behavior.
  • The Vizio VQM65C-1004 can tolerate some overhead-light glare in a moderately lit room, but it is not a bright-room specialist.
  • Verify that the return window is long enough to test the television with daylight in your own room.

Dark movie room

  • Local dimming can improve contrast, but blooming remains possible on the Hisense U6SF Pro, TCL QM6K, and Vizio VQM65C-1004.
  • Keep your seating near the center because the TCL QM6K and Hisense U75QG have limited or poor off-axis viewing.
  • Use the television’s movie or filmmaker-oriented picture mode first, then adjust brightness only after the room is dark.

Family room for mixed viewing

The 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro is the most balanced starting point if the current price fits. The TCL QM6K is a sensible alternative when Google TV or motion handling is more important than bright-room performance. If everyone sits far from the screen, compare the live price of the 65-inch TCL QM6K or 65-inch-class Vizio VQM65C-1004 rather than assuming a larger model is automatically better.

Gaming checklist before checkout

  1. Count your high-bandwidth devices. Two HDMI 2.1 ports on the Hisense U6SF Pro or TCL QM6K may be enough for one console and one other device. The Hisense U75QG lists four.
  2. Confirm the refresh mode you need. The U6SF Pro is reported at 4K 120Hz or up to 144Hz with VRR, the QM6K at native 144Hz, and the U75QG at 165Hz. These figures do not guarantee that every input or resolution combination operates at the maximum.
  3. Check VRR and console compatibility in the exact listing. Feature support can depend on input, firmware, and region.
  4. Do not select the Vizio VQM65C-1004 for 4K/120 gaming. The source explicitly reports no HDMI 2.1 and warns about motion blur.
  5. Use a game picture mode. It generally reduces processing delay compared with a cinema mode, while preserving access to HDR and VRR settings.

Smart-TV platform and app trade-offs

Picture specifications do not determine whether a television is pleasant to use every day. The Hisense U6SF Pro and Hisense QD7 use Fire TV, and the reviews flag interface drawbacks or sluggishness. That can show up as slower menus, more promotional content, or less satisfying navigation even when streaming quality is good.

The TCL QM6K and Hisense U75QG use Google TV. Buyers already invested in Google accounts may prefer its recommendations and casting behavior, but app availability and performance should still be checked for the services used by your household. The Vizio VQM65C-1004 uses Vizio OS, whose app catalog is described as smaller. If a required service is missing, an external streaming device is the practical workaround.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to verify a $700 ceiling

  1. Write down the exact model number and diagonal, such as the 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro or Vizio VQM65C-1004 in its listed 65-inch class.
  2. Check the retailer’s current price, stock status, shipping, sales tax, and delivery or pickup fees on the purchase date.
  3. Confirm that the listing is for the same regional model, not a similarly named predecessor or a different suffix.
  4. Read the return and dead-pixel policies before opening the box. A low price is not useful if returning a defective panel is impractical.
  5. Compare the warranty term and seller identity, especially on marketplace listings.
  6. Recheck the price immediately before publication or checkout. The $499 U6SF Pro example was a temporary 2026 sale and should not be carried forward as a standing price.

Common mistakes and fixes

Buying by screen size alone

A 65-inch television with severe reflections can look worse than a 55-inch set with better light control. Measure the room, identify the brightest viewing position, and rank reflection handling before paying for extra inches.

Assuming every HDMI socket supports 4K at 120Hz

Port count is not the same as feature support. The U6SF Pro and QM6K list two HDMI 2.1 ports, while the U75QG lists four. Connect the console to a qualifying port and enable the appropriate enhanced-input setting; consult the exact manual when labels differ.

Expecting Mini-LED to eliminate blooming

Mini-LED improves backlight control but does not create pixel-level light control. The reported blooming on the U6SF Pro, QM6K, and Vizio model is a reminder to judge dark-scene performance in the room where you watch.

Ignoring audio

The Hisense U75QG is specifically described as having middling audio. Check whether the television supports your intended soundbar or receiver connection, and reserve part of the budget if built-in speakers will not be sufficient.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom line by buyer type

  • Most people: 55-inch Hisense U6SF Pro, provided its live price is under $700 and you accept Fire TV and some blooming.
  • Motion and Google TV: TCL QM6K in the diagonal that fits your budget, with careful attention to reflections and viewing angle.
  • Competitive or multi-device gaming: Hisense U75QG in a size that remains under budget, after confirming the exact input and refresh specifications.
  • Largest screen for the money: 65-inch-class Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4K VQM65C-1004, only if you can live with no HDMI 2.1, motion blur, reflections, and the smaller app catalog.
  • Lowest-cost general viewing: Hisense QD7, only when the chosen size is actually below $700 and your room is not especially bright.

These are current-review-based choices, not permanent winners. RTINGS and Tom’s Guide can change rankings as new models, firmware, and prices appear, so verify the exact model, size, stock, and total cost on the day you buy.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
