There is no single best TV for every room. RTINGS names the Samsung S95H its best TV overall in its 2026 guide, while its other picks and What Hi-Fi’s category recommendations point to different models for different needs. For a dark room, start with OLED; for bright rooms, compare reflection handling and high-brightness Mini LED sets; for value, check local Mini LED options. The recommendations below are attributed to the publishers that tested and reviewed them—not presented as independent testing by Freedom251.

How should you choose the best TV in 2026?

Start with your room and how you watch, then compare specific models. OLED is compelling when deep blacks and dark-scene contrast matter most. In a bright room, screen reflections and brightness can matter more than the panel’s black level. For gaming, check the exact model’s refresh rate, VRR and ALLM support, and HDMI 2.1 port count rather than assuming every TV in a brand’s range has the same features.

  • Dark room and films: Prioritize black level, contrast and control of blooming around bright objects.
  • Bright room: Compare reflection handling and brightness in person or in reliable model-specific reviews.
  • Gaming: Verify refresh rate, VRR, ALLM and port specifications for the exact size and regional variant.
  • Budget and availability: Compare current local prices and stock; model names and specifications can differ by market.

The publishers’ rankings are editorial recommendations, not a single standardized contest. RTINGS says it considers price, reader feedback and availability, and that it performs more than 350 tests. What Hi-Fi describes testing TVs with reference sets and DVD, 1080p Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray material in HDR and SDR. Their methods and category choices help explain why their top picks do not always match.

Which TV is best for most people?

Samsung S95H: RTINGS’ all-round flagship pick

RTINGS names the Samsung S95H its best TV overall in its 2026 buying guide. Its listing describes a 4K QD-OLED with a 165Hz refresh rate, matte screen and four HDMI 2.1 inputs. The matte finish reduces reflections, but RTINGS notes that blacks appear raised in bright environments. The set also lacks Dolby Vision support, which may matter if that format is a priority for your movie or streaming setup.

  • ULTIMATE GAMEPLAY: Delivers smooth, responsive gaming with a 0.1ms response time, up to 165Hz⁵ refresh rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium and VRR.

This is a useful starting point for a mixed-use flagship shortlist, not a universal winner: a buyer who watches mostly in a bright room should weigh the raised-black caveat, while a Dolby Vision requirement rules it out.

LG C6: a lower-tier OLED alternative

RTINGS describes the LG C6 as an upper mid-range compromise, with deep blacks and strong gaming features. It says reflections are more visible than on the S95H in bright settings. What Hi-Fi’s product listing gives a 42–83-inch size range, four HDMI 2.1 ports and 4K/165Hz gaming support. Check the precise size and regional variant before relying on those specifications.

What Hi-Fi also recommends Sony’s Bravia 8 II among its OLED options, illustrating that its category-based choices differ from RTINGS’ overall ranking. The available details here do not establish a direct, like-for-like comparison between the Bravia 8 II and C6, so choose by the specific features and test results relevant to your room.

Which TV is best for a bright room?

Sony BRAVIA 9 II: bright-room Mini LED example

RTINGS names the Sony BRAVIA 9 II its best Mini LED TV and describes it as bright enough to overcome glare, with an anti-reflective coating and strong local dimming. Its guide lists sizes from 65 to 115 inches. That makes it a model to consider when daylight and reflections are persistent problems, though size, price and availability will narrow the real-world options in your market.

Mini LED uses a backlight controlled in zones, rather than OLED’s self-emissive pixels. Local dimming can improve contrast, but bright objects against dark backgrounds may still produce halos; performance depends on the individual set. RTINGS describes the BRAVIA 9 II as having strong local dimming, but that should not be treated as a promise that every Mini LED TV performs similarly.

When OLED may still be the better fit

RTINGS describes deep blacks and no haloing on both the LG C6 and Samsung S95H. That makes OLED attractive for dark-room viewing, but the C6’s more visible reflections are a practical drawback in bright spaces. The S95H’s matte screen reduces reflections, although its blacks can rise in a bright environment. Consider the room’s lighting as well as the panel type.

What is RGB Mini LED, and is it worth considering?

RGB Mini LED is a backlight approach, not a guarantee of a particular picture quality. RTINGS describes the Sony BRAVIA 9 II as using separate red, green and blue LEDs in its backlight rather than a single light source per zone. The design can enable brighter, more vivid colors than single-LED Mini LED sets, but the result depends on the model.

Early comparisons also do not point to a universal winner. TechRadar’s side-by-side assessment of the Sony BRAVIA 9 II and Samsung R95H found the Sony’s color appeared richer and deeper, while the Samsung’s appeared brighter. Those are reviewer impressions, and TechRadar characterizes the early RGB field as mixed—not a standardized measured ranking. Do not confuse the Samsung R95H in that comparison with the Samsung S95H that RTINGS names its overall pick.

What Hi-Fi added the Hisense UR9 as its best RGB Mini LED set on June 11, 2026. That is What Hi-Fi’s category choice, not evidence of a consensus across reviewers. If you are shopping RGB Mini LED, compare reviews of the exact set rather than treating RGB as a performance tier.

Which models are worth comparing?

These are source-attributed examples, not a ranking across one common test protocol. Specifications and availability should be checked for the exact regional model before purchase.

Which TV is best for gaming?

On paper, the S95H and C6 are notable options in the cited listings: both are reported at up to 4K/165Hz, and each listing specifies four HDMI 2.1 inputs. RTINGS describes the C6 as having strong gaming features, while What Hi-Fi lists those C6 capabilities. These specifications do not establish that either is best for every console or PC setup.

Before buying, confirm the exact variant supports the refresh rate you need and has the right mix of VRR, ALLM and HDMI 2.1 inputs. Port counts and features can vary by model and size; also check whether other devices, such as a sound system, need one of those inputs.

Why do TV recommendations disagree?

“Best” depends on what is being optimized. RTINGS’ 2026 guide selects the Samsung S95H overall and separately identifies category leaders such as the LG C6 and Sony BRAVIA 9 II. What Hi-Fi organizes its recommendations by use and price, including a Sony Bravia 8 II among its OLED options and the TCL C7K as its Mini LED choice for most people. Those recommendations answer different buying questions, and the publishers describe different testing approaches.

Availability also affects what is worth recommending. RTINGS says it takes stock and availability into account and may include older models that remain available. Prices, stock and regional model names change; check the listing in your country and compare current alternatives before treating a guide’s pick as a practical local recommendation.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
