Start with the page you need to capture, not a popularity ranking. The key questions are whether the tool works in your browser, how it handles nested scrolling and frames, which output formats it offers, whether you need annotation or redaction, and where processing occurs. How to take a full-page screenshot in Firefox
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. The documented shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on Mac.
- Select Save full page. Choose the visible area or a selected region instead if you do not need the whole page.
- Download the image or copy it, then open the saved capture and check that it includes the content you need.

How to capture an entire webpage in Chrome
Use a scroll-and-stitch extension
- Find the extension through its official Chrome Web Store listing and review the publisher, permissions, current status, supported browsers and privacy explanation before installing.
- Open the page you want to capture and start the extension’s capture.
- Let it scroll through the page and assemble the visible sections. GoFullPage’s listing says it needs to scroll through the page to capture it.
- Review the assembled output for missing or duplicated content, then export to the image or PDF format you need.
- If the page is too large for one image, check whether the tool splits it across multiple files; GoFullPage says it can do this for oversized captures.
Extension availability can change. GoFullPage’s company blog describes a temporary Chrome Web Store removal in August 2026, followed by restoration and Firefox availability. That episode is a reason to verify current availability, not evidence of a security incident. GoFullPage company blog.

Check the page and capture before sharing
Scrolling, lazy loading and dynamic content
Scroll-and-stitch extensions reveal content by moving through the page. Nested scroll regions, custom JavaScript scrolling, lazy-loaded images, animations or content that keeps appearing during capture can affect what gets included. Inspect the final image rather than assuming a successful export means every section is present. GoFullPage describes its scroll-based approach and discusses custom scrolling in its support material.
Frames and inner scroll areas
Support varies by tool and page. GoFullPage’s listing claims support for inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes, but that does not guarantee every frame or unusual page will capture correctly. Check the specific result.

Very tall pages
A single tall image may run into browser or output limits. If a capture is split, check that the files are in the right order and that no content is missing between them. GoFullPage says its extension can split captures too large for one image.
Protected pages and private information
Extensions may not be able to capture browser-internal or protected surfaces; check the browser’s own screenshot options and the extension’s stated limitations. Before sharing any image, look for account details, email addresses, private dashboard information or tokens. If you use blur or pixelation, verify that it truly conceals the underlying information.

Choose PDF or image based on how you will use it
A screenshot is a visual record of the rendered page. A screenshot-based PDF preserves that appearance, but it may be a long bitmap without selectable text or useful pagination. If you need text search, selection, accessibility or controlled page breaks, compare the result with the browser’s print-to-PDF output. The available product documentation does not establish one universally superior PDF method; the better choice depends on whether appearance or document behavior matters more.

- The capture stops partway down: the page may use a nested or custom scroll area, or load content only as it scrolls. Try a different capture method, wait for the page to settle, and inspect the result section by section.
- Content is missing or duplicated: the page may have changed while the extension was scrolling. Retry after dynamic content finishes loading, or capture a stable page state and review each stitched section.
- An embedded frame is blank or incomplete: frame support is tool-dependent. Test the page rather than assuming a listing’s general support claim covers that particular frame.
- The output is too large: use a tool that splits oversized captures if separate image files are acceptable, or capture a smaller region. Check all resulting files for continuity.
- The PDF is hard to search or print: it may be an image-based PDF. Try the browser’s print-to-PDF workflow when selectable text or page breaks are important.
- The extension is unavailable or its features have changed: verify its official store listing and current permissions. Use Firefox’s built-in capture where suitable, or choose another tool whose current listing matches your requirements.

Possibly, but the final capture depends on how the page loads content and how the tool handles scrolling. For continuously loading pages, inspect the captured sections carefully; a stable page state or a different capture approach may be necessary.
