For more movement over bumps, look at a suspension seatpost; for pressure relief and support, start with a saddle that fits your sit bones and riding position. They solve different problems, so there is no single best “suspension bike saddle” for every rider. The SR SUNTOUR NCX and by,schulz G.2 ST are suspension seatposts—not saddles—while the WTB Solano and Giant Contact are conventional saddle options.
What counts as a suspension bike saddle?
The phrase can refer to three different things: a seatpost that moves beneath the saddle, a saddle with a flexible base, or a conventional saddle whose padding and shape aim to reduce pressure. A suspension seatpost adds movement between the saddle and frame. A comfort saddle does not necessarily move independently; it supports the rider through its shape, padding, and pressure-relief design.

That distinction matters when comparing products. A seatpost changes how impacts reach the rider and adds a moving mechanism. A saddle addresses contact points and fit. Neither category is automatically more comfortable for every person or every type of ride.

Suspension seatposts: the movement option
SR SUNTOUR NCX
The SR SUNTOUR NCX product page specifies 50 mm of travel, preload adjustment, and a 25 mm saddle-clamp offset. The manufacturer lists the SP12 in 27.2 mm diameter and the SP25 in 30.9 mm or 31.6 mm. It requires 110 mm of exposed post measured from the frame to the saddle rails. SR SUNTOUR gives the standard spring a rider range of around 140–195 lb and notes tolerance; check the manufacturer’s guidance for suitability rather than treating that range as an exact cutoff.
The same page lists a price of $139.95 and currently marks the product out of stock. Price and stock can change, so verify both on the product page before buying. The NCX is worth considering if its diameter, exposed-length requirement, spring range, and riding needs match your setup—not simply because it has suspension.

The by,schulz G.2 ST is a parallelogram suspension seatpost. Its setup involves selecting compatible spring and damper options and checking saddle-rail fit. The manufacturer says the saddle frame must match the clamp: the inside rail width must be at least 36 mm, and oval rails must not be used with the cited post. Consult its model-specific specifications and installation instructions before purchase; those compatibility details cannot be assumed to apply to other posts.
How the suspension mechanism affects the ride
CyclingAbout’s June 2025 Cycling Comfort Course characterizes metal springs as comfort-oriented but potentially bouncy, elastomers as more controlled under hard pedaling, and air-spring droppers as useful on steeper trails. These are the publisher’s general descriptions, not a universal ranking of every product or a substitute for checking a specific post’s design and intended use.

Comfort saddles: fit and support without a suspension mechanism
WTB Solano
The WTB Solano is a conventional saddle offered in two widths, with a pressure-relief feature. WTB says it adds 4 mm of padding beneath the sit bones and 2 mm in the middle and nose compared with the Solano SL. Those figures describe the manufacturer’s comparison between these models; they do not establish that the Solano will feel better for every rider. Compare the available width and intended fit with your measurements and riding posture.
Giant Contact SLR and SL
Giant’s Contact saddle showcase describes multiple fit shapes and claims a 30% improvement in compliance, impact absorption, and support for the Contact range. The page does not state a publication year or comparison methodology, so treat that percentage as Giant’s manufacturer claim, not an independently established result or a claim about all saddles.

How to choose and check compatibility
- Identify the problem. Decide whether you are trying to reduce impacts reaching the saddle, address pressure or support, or solve both. Choose a post for movement and a saddle for fit and contact.
- Check your current saddle fit. Consider sit-bone support, riding posture, flexibility, and how you use the bike. A width or shape that works for another rider may not suit you.
- For a suspension post, confirm the diameter. Match the post to the frame’s seat-tube specification; the NCX diameters differ by model.
- Measure available exposed length and clearance. For the NCX, the manufacturer specifies 110 mm from the frame to the saddle rails. Check the complete bike setup and the post’s instructions before installation.
- Match the spring or damping setup to the rider and use. Follow the post maker’s model-specific weight guidance and setup instructions. Do not assume a spring intended for one rider range or riding style will suit another.
- Check the saddle clamp and rails. Confirm rail shape and width as well as clamp compatibility. For the cited G.2 ST, by,schulz specifies a minimum inside rail width of 36 mm and excludes oval rails.
- Verify current price and availability. Product listings can change; the NCX page currently shows out-of-stock status and a listed price that may not remain current.
Use the manufacturer’s instructions for final installation and adjustment. If a fit dimension or compatibility point is unclear, do not force the part into the setup.

Manufacturer pages establish product specifications and describe their own features; they do not, by themselves, prove that a product outperforms alternatives in independent testing. The Giant compliance figure is a manufacturer claim, and the NCX listing is a product specification with volatile price and stock information. Cycling Weekly provides a tested saddle listing, but a test result for one model and width does not identify a universally best saddle. No reviewed source establishes one best suspension saddle for all riders.
