1. Oxenfree: the closest match for supernatural tension
Why it follows Shadow and Bone well
Netflix calls Oxenfree a narrative thriller. A group of teenagers on a coastal outing becomes caught in a mystery involving a ghostly rift, and the game places your dialogue decisions at the center of the experience. That combination makes it the strongest first recommendation for someone who wants the pressure of making a choice before knowing its consequences.
The setting is contemporary rather than folkloric. You will not be navigating Ravkan court politics or a fantasy military campaign. Instead, the unease comes from an ordinary-looking coastal location colliding with something impossible. The shift in setting is useful if what you valued in Shadow and Bone was the feeling that hidden forces could break into an otherwise recognizable world.
What to expect from the decision system
Conversation is the main way you express intent. Netflix presents the story as one in which “all the choices are up to you,” so the appeal is not selecting upgrades or optimizing a combat build. It is deciding what to say, whom to trust and how to respond while the mystery develops. Why play it after Oxenfree?
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is the natural next stop if the first game’s combination of conversation and paranormal investigation appealed to you. Netflix describes shadowy cult members, ghostly radio signals and space-time portals, giving the sequel a more ominous investigative frame.
It is worth treating this as a follow-up mystery rather than a replacement for fantasy court drama. The core question is not how to manage a royal alliance or supernatural power system; it is how to interpret evidence and make choices while trying to solve an unfolding anomaly.

Pick this one when you want a darker tone and more investigation after finishing Oxenfree. Its choices are presented as tools for solving the mystery, so it suits players who want decisions tied to discovery. If romance customization is your main reason for playing story games, start with Secrets by Episode instead.
3. Secrets by Episode: the best choice for branching romance
What the anthology contains
Netflix Tudum reported on February 18, 2025, that Secrets by Episode launched exclusively on Netflix. Pocket Gems’ anthology began with eight stories, each running 12–17 chapters. Because the stories are separate, you can sample different premises rather than committing to one long campaign.
Customization and relationship choices
The game lets you create a female, male or non-binary protagonist and choose the gender of a lover. Decisions branch the narratives, and some stories can reach multiple endings. That makes it the clearest match here for readers who want to see their identity and relationship preferences reflected directly in the playthrough.
The anthology format also changes how replayability works. In a single self-contained adventure, replay usually means revisiting the same cast and plot. Here, you can compare routes within a story and then move to another fantasy with a different premise. The exact kind of supernatural material varies by story, so do not choose it expecting one consistent magic system.
Choose Secrets by Episode if…

That breadth is its main advantage. Enter the Fold gives you four connected adventures in one fantasy setting. Netflix Stories lets you move between romance, reality-show drama, mystery and other show-based premises. It is the better choice when you want a continuing supply of shorter campaigns rather than one specific supernatural mood.
When the library format works best
Choose a story according to the kind of drama you want that day. A romance-focused show world may satisfy the relationship side of Shadow and Bone, while a mystery-based campaign may better match its danger and intrigue. Because the atmosphere changes from title to title, the library is less coherent than a single fantasy RPG but more flexible over time.
The game is listed for Android phones and tablets and for iPhone and iPad. Netflix states that it supports one player and does not offer offline play. Those details matter if you plan to play while traveling or expect a shared, multiplayer experience.
5. Before Your Eyes: an emotional story controlled by blinking
The unusual input method
Netflix describes Before Your Eyes as an emotional first-person adventure in which real-life blinks control the story and affect its outcome. The mechanic changes your relationship with time: instead of selecting every response from a menu, you progress through scenes by blinking naturally or deliberately.
Why it is a different kind of follow-up
This is not a conventional RPG substitute for Enter the Fold. There is no stated focus on combat, character statistics, romance creation or a supernatural political setting. Its appeal is emotional experimentation and the way the physical act of playing becomes part of the narrative.

Pick it when the character-centered drama of Shadow and Bone mattered more to you than its fantasy mechanics. If you specifically want spells, branching romance or a cast you can customize, one of the other games will fit more closely.

What you do
In Spiritfarer, Netflix casts you as a ferrymaster. You build a boat, explore, care for spirits and eventually release them into the afterlife. The structure is less about sudden dialogue branches and more about spending time with characters, learning what they need and accompanying them through an explicitly emotional arc.
How it compares with Enter the Fold
The game has less branching dialogue than Enter the Fold, so it should not be your first pick if you want every conversation to create a radically different route. Its strength is sustained attachment. Exploration and boat-building give the journey a physical shape, while the spirit passengers provide the character focus.
The afterlife premise gives it a supernatural dimension, but its tone is slower and more reflective than a thriller. Choose it when you want a gentler pace, exploration and a strong cast rather than twists, stats or romantic customization.

If supernatural atmosphere comes first
