Steam’s own wishlist remains the better fit if you buy only through Steam and mainly want store-native release and discount notices. Epic Games Store offers the same kind of ecosystem-specific list for people who primarily purchase through Epic.
The important distinction is scope. A launcher wishlist saves games inside one storefront; a cross-store tracker follows offers across the stores it supports and can tell you when a target price or deal appears. Choose the narrowest tool that matches how you buy, because a larger watchlist is not automatically a better one.

Quick verdict: which wishlist should you use?
| Option | Best for | Store coverage | Wishlist portability | Alert controls | Price history | Release handling | Buying workflow |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IsThereAnyDeal | Comparing prices across legitimate PC stores | Multiple supported PC stores; verify coverage on each game page | Can import a Steam wishlist; also supports collection tracking | Configurable target-price and deal notifications | Detailed game pages include price-history information | Dedicated release-date alert behavior is not stated on the official homepage or welcome page | Compares available offers before you choose a store |
| Steam Wishlist | People who buy almost exclusively on Steam | Steam only | Native Steam list | Steam discount and relevant upcoming-game notices | Not a cross-store price-history tool | Steam describes wishlists as useful for upcoming-game discovery and release-related notices | Saves the game directly in Steam’s store and library ecosystem |
| Epic Games Store Wishlist | People who mainly shop in Epic’s launcher | Epic Games Store only | Native Epic list | Tracks discounts inside Epic | Not a general cross-store price-history tool | Release-date alert behavior beyond the Epic storefront is not stated | Keeps the purchase workflow inside Epic |
IsThereAnyDeal’s homepage summarizes its purpose this way: “Get notified right away when the games you want are the right price for you.” That is why it is the strongest general alternative rather than simply another launcher bookmark.

What a serious Steam wishlist alternative needs to do
A useful alternative is more than a second place to save a game. It should reduce the work between discovering a title and buying it at a sensible price. Evaluate any service against these six questions.

Does it watch more than one store?
Steam’s list is excellent at organizing Steam purchases, but it cannot show you whether another legitimate PC storefront has a better offer. A cross-store service is useful only when the specific game has offers from the stores you care about. Store support can change, so check the offer list on the game’s page instead of assuming every title appears everywhere.
Can you move an existing wishlist?
Rebuilding a large list by hand is the main barrier to switching. IsThereAnyDeal supports Steam wishlist import, which lets you start with the games you have already marked rather than searching for every title again. Steam and Epic provide native lists, but no general export or import path between those ecosystems is established in their official descriptions.
Are alerts based on your price, or merely on a sale?
A generic sale notice can arrive when a game is discounted but still costs more than you want to pay. Target-price alerts are more precise: you define the amount that makes the purchase worthwhile, and the service notifies you when that condition is met. Deal alerts are useful when you want to know about any qualifying promotion. IsThereAnyDeal supports configurable notifications for both target prices and deals; the launcher wishlists are primarily storefront notices.

Can you see the past before judging the current offer?
Price history supplies context. A 30% discount may be ordinary for one game and unusually good for another. IsThereAnyDeal’s detailed game pages include price-history information, allowing you to compare a current offer with previous sale levels. Steam and Epic wishlists are not presented as cross-store historical-price tools in their official descriptions.
How are releases handled?
Upcoming games create a different tracking problem from discounts. Steam says its wishlist helps players follow games they are interested in and supports upcoming-game discovery and discount notifications. Epic describes its wishlist as a way to save games for later or track discounts. IsThereAnyDeal’s official homepage and welcome page establish game pages, imports, collections, and price tracking, but they do not state a dedicated release-date alert system. Treat release monitoring as a storefront feature unless the service explicitly shows a release field or notification option for the title.
Does it help you buy, or only remember?
A launcher wishlist ends with a purchase inside that launcher. A cross-store tracker adds a comparison step: you inspect the available offers, confirm the seller and edition, and then continue to the store you choose. That extra step is valuable when price matters, but unnecessary if you never buy outside Steam.

IsThereAnyDeal: the strongest all-purpose alternative
Why it is the default recommendation
IsThereAnyDeal combines the features that are usually scattered across separate tools: cross-store price comparison, configurable notifications, Steam wishlist import, collection tracking, and game pages with price history. For a reader asking, “How can I track PC game prices across Steam, GOG, Epic, and other stores?” it is the closest match, provided the stores and title are supported on the relevant offer page.
It is also more useful than a simple sale calendar because the alert can represent your own buying threshold. Instead of remembering to check several launchers, you can let the service watch for a qualifying price or deal and use the history view to judge whether the offer is exceptional or routine.
How to set it up with a Steam wishlist
- Open IsThereAnyDeal and create or sign in to your account. Use the service’s account flow so your imported list and collection can be retained.
- Use the Steam wishlist import option. Authorize the import through the method presented by the service, then review the titles it finds. Import availability is an established feature; the exact button wording can change.
- Check each game’s offer list. Confirm which legitimate PC stores currently list the title. Do not assume that a store is covered simply because another game appears there.
- Open the game’s detailed page. Review the current prices, editions, and price-history information before setting an alert.
- Choose an alert condition. Set a target price when you have a firm ceiling, or choose a deal notification when any qualifying promotion is useful. Select the notification method offered in your account.
- Move finished or owned games into your collection. Collection tracking keeps the active watchlist focused on games you may still buy while preserving a record of titles you already have.
What to verify before relying on an alert
- The offer is for the correct edition, region, and platform.
- The seller is a legitimate store you are willing to use.
- Your target price is low enough to matter but not so low that it excludes normal discounts.
- The alert is enabled for the title rather than merely saved to a collection.
- The notification channel is active and not filtered by your mail or device settings.
Where IsThereAnyDeal is less certain
The official material establishes price tracking, imports, collections, and notifications, but it does not promise that every storefront, region, edition, or release-date event is covered. If a game page lacks the store or release information you need, keep the relevant launcher wishlist as a second source rather than assuming the absence means the game has no upcoming date or sale.
Steam Wishlist: the simplest choice for Steam-only buying
What Steam’s native list does well
Valve’s Steamworks documentation says, “Players can add your game to their wishlist to keep track of games they are interested in.” Steam also describes wishlists as relevant to upcoming-game discovery and discount notifications. That makes the native list a sensible baseline when your purchases, library, and friends are all centered on Steam.
The workflow is intentionally simple: find a game in the Steam store, add it to your wishlist, and watch for the store’s notices when it launches or receives a discount. There is no second account, cross-store comparison screen, or imported list to maintain.
When Steam is the better fit
- You buy only, or nearly only, from Steam.
- You want upcoming-game and Steam discount notices rather than a market-wide comparison.
- You prefer the fewest moving parts and want the purchase to happen in the same storefront.
- You do not need a historical low across multiple stores.
What Steam does not replace
Steam’s wishlist does not provide the same cross-store focus as IsThereAnyDeal. It cannot tell you whether a supported alternative store has a lower legitimate price, and the official description does not present it as a general price-history database. Keep it for release discovery even if you import the list elsewhere; the two tools solve different problems.

Epic Games Store Wishlist: useful inside Epic’s ecosystem
What Epic’s list is for
Epic Games’ support documentation says users can add games they are interested in playing to a wishlist “to buy them later or track discounts.” The feature is therefore appropriate for shoppers whose purchases are concentrated in the Epic Games Store and who want a native reminder when a title becomes cheaper there.
When to choose Epic’s native wishlist
- Your games and payment workflow are already in Epic’s launcher.
- You only need to monitor Epic discounts.
- You want a straightforward saved-games list without comparing multiple storefronts.
Its boundary
Epic’s wishlist is tied to the Epic storefront. It is not described as a general tracker for Steam, GOG, or other stores, and the official support wording does not establish a cross-store historical-price view. If you routinely buy wherever the best legitimate offer appears, pair Epic’s list with a cross-store tracker instead of expecting one launcher to watch another.
How to track prices across Steam, GOG, Epic, and other stores
The most reliable approach is to separate discovery, comparison, and buying. Use a launcher wishlist for release awareness when you want it, and use a cross-store tracker for price decisions.

Add upcoming or interesting games to Steam’s wishlist, Epic’s wishlist, or both, depending on where you follow releases.
- Import the Steam list into IsThereAnyDeal. This creates a cross-store watchlist without manually recreating every entry.
- Open the game page when you are ready to monitor price. Review which stores and editions are actually listed for that title.
- Inspect price history. Compare the current offer with earlier prices so a percentage discount does not mislead you.
- Set a target price or deal alert. Use a target when you have a maximum budget; use a deal alert when you are flexible and want to hear about promotions.
- Confirm the purchase details at checkout. Check the platform, edition, region, activation requirements, and seller before paying.
- Archive the result. Move a purchased title into your tracked collection or remove it from the active watchlist so future alerts remain relevant.
Coverage is title-specific. A game may be listed on one store but not another, or have different editions and regional prices. The offer page is the authority for what the tracker can compare at that moment.
Price alerts: target price versus deal notifications
Use a target price when your budget is firm
A target price answers a precise question: “Tell me when this game reaches an amount I would actually pay.” This is useful for older single-player games, bundles you are willing to wait for, or titles whose regular sale price is known from the history chart.
Use a deal alert when timing matters more than an exact number
A deal alert is better when you want to catch a promotion without choosing a strict ceiling. It can also suit newly released games, whose sale pattern is not yet clear. Because the alert may arrive for a price you still reject, inspect the offer and history before buying.

Do not confuse a notification with a guarantee
An alert tells you that the service detected a qualifying offer. It does not guarantee that the price remains available, that your region receives the same promotion, or that every edition is included. Open the store listing promptly and verify the final terms.
Release-date tracking: what each option can and cannot establish
Steam for upcoming-game awareness
Steam explicitly connects wishlists with upcoming-game discovery and discount notifications. If your main concern is knowing when a Steam title launches or becomes relevant to your library, keeping it on Steam is the clearest native workflow.
Epic for Epic-specific discount tracking
Epic’s official description focuses on saving games for later and tracking discounts. It is useful for price reminders in Epic’s store, but the available wording does not establish a broader release-calendar service.
IsThereAnyDeal for prices first
IsThereAnyDeal’s documented strengths are cross-store offers, price history, Steam import, collections, and configurable alerts. The official homepage and welcome page do not state a dedicated release-date notification feature. Use the game page when it includes release information, but retain the relevant launcher wishlist for release notices you cannot verify there.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
Assuming every store is covered
Symptom: You expect a Steam, GOG, or Epic offer but see only one storefront. Fix: Check the game’s current offer list and treat missing stores as unsupported for that title or region until shown otherwise.
Setting an unrealistic target price
Symptom: Months pass without an alert. Fix: Review the price-history view and choose a threshold that reflects previous sale levels, or switch to a broader deal notification.

Watching the wrong edition
Symptom: The alert price does not match the version you want. Fix: Compare standard, deluxe, complete, and bundle listings before enabling the alert.
Using a discount notice as proof of a bargain
Symptom: A large percentage discount still feels expensive. Fix: Check the historical prices and compare current offers across supported stores.
Removing a game from Steam after importing it
Symptom: You lose Steam’s upcoming-game or store-native notices. Fix: Keep the title on Steam if release awareness matters, while using IsThereAnyDeal for cross-store price alerts.

Choose by buying habit
Pick IsThereAnyDeal if price is the deciding factor
Choose it when you are willing to buy from more than one legitimate PC store, want to import your Steam list, care about historical context, or need a target-price alert. It provides the broadest decision support among the options covered here.
Pick Steam if convenience and release notices come first
Choose Steam’s native wishlist when you buy in Steam, want upcoming-game discovery, and do not need to compare other stores. It is the least complicated setup.
Pick Epic if Epic is your main storefront
Choose Epic’s wishlist when your purchases happen in Epic and discount tracking there is enough. Add a cross-store tracker only when you begin shopping outside that ecosystem.
Use both a launcher wishlist and IsThereAnyDeal when needs differ
There is no requirement to choose one list exclusively. A practical combination is Steam or Epic for ecosystem-specific release and discount notices, plus IsThereAnyDeal for imported watchlists, price history, and cross-store alerts. Keep one active source for each purpose so you know which notification means what.
Bottom line
For a genuine Steam wishlist alternative, start with IsThereAnyDeal: it combines Steam wishlist import, collection tracking, cross-store offers, price history, and configurable target-price or deal notifications. Keep Steam’s native wishlist for Steam-only buying and upcoming-game notices, and use Epic’s wishlist when your shopping is centered on Epic. The right setup depends less on how many games you save than on whether you need one-store convenience or a broader view of legitimate PC prices.
