There is no independently verified “best” Steam Deck settings profile for End of Abyss yet. One OLED Deck player reported getting close to 45 FPS after experimenting, but said some rooms still caused frame drops—and did not share the exact settings used. Treat 45 FPS as an early player’s target, not a proven lock or a benchmark.
If you want to try the game on Deck, start with the low preset, choose a frame-rate target in SteamOS, then raise graphics options one at a time. Test in demanding rooms as well as quiet areas; this is a troubleshooting method, not a tested recipe.

What is actually known about End of Abyss on Steam Deck?
The available Deck-specific evidence is a launch-week Reddit discussion, not controlled testing. An anonymous OLED Deck player first described trying a mix of low and medium settings and hoping for a mostly smooth 45 FPS. In a later comment, after more than an hour of experimentation, the player said they were nearly at 45 FPS but some rooms caused substantial drops. They did not name the graphics options, resolution, frame cap, or other settings that produced that result. Read the r/SteamDeck discussion.

That commenter had not played End of Abyss, so this is a general method rather than a title-specific finding. No named developer or publisher representative has published a Steam Deck performance assessment in the cited sources.

A cautious setup method to try
Use these steps to find a balance on your own Deck. They are a structured way to test, not a verified configuration that guarantees smooth performance.
- Start with the in-game low preset. If the game offers graphics presets, select low first so you have a consistent baseline. The launch-week commenter’s low-first advice was general UE5 experience, not a test of this game.
- Set a target with SteamOS frame-rate controls. You can try 45 FPS as a target because one player reported getting close to it, but that report does not establish a stable lock. If drops remain disruptive, try a lower target and judge consistency rather than assuming a particular number will fix them.
- Test a representative stretch of play. Include a demanding room or encounter, not just a quiet area. The reported dips varied by room and, according to the player, did not seem tied simply to what was visible on screen.
- Change one graphics option at a time. Raise an option only after the baseline test, then revisit the same demanding area. This makes it easier to notice whether the change improves image quality at an acceptable cost to consistency.
- Keep the settings that suit your priorities. If added detail makes frame delivery feel less consistent, return that option to its previous value. There is no published evidence establishing an ideal resolution, upscaler, shadow level, effects setting, TDP, or frame cap for this title on Deck.
What the PC requirements do—and do not—tell you
The Epic Games Store lists End of Abyss for Windows PC, requires an Epic ID, and gives Windows system requirements. Those specifications are not a Steam Deck compatibility rating and cannot, on their own, predict Deck frame rate or confirm that the game runs on SteamOS. See the Epic Games Store listing.

The official Epic listing identifies Windows as the PC platform; it does not state SteamOS support or provide a Steam Deck rating. A secondary platform guide reports that the developer has not announced a Steam release or official Deck support, but that is secondary-source reporting rather than an official statement. Heroic Games Launcher says it supports Epic games on Linux and Steam Deck in general. That does not verify that End of Abyss works through Heroic, nor does it identify a game-specific Proton version or fix. See Heroic Games Launcher’s project site. Treat installation and compatibility as unresolved unless you confirm current results for the game and your setup.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
What remains unverified
- A repeatable combination of in-game graphics values and frame cap for either the OLED or LCD Deck.
- Whether either model holds a particular frame rate across the game, including demanding rooms.
- Reliable play through Heroic or another Epic-compatible route, and any game-specific compatibility workaround.
- Whether later patches or broader testing change the launch-week anecdotal report.
