If you’ve finished Marvel’s Spider-Man, play Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales next, then continue with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. If you haven’t played the first game, start with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5. You can jump straight to Spider-Man 2, but playing the earlier games gives you the fuller story.
What to play next, based on where you are in the story
| Your situation | Recommended next game | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You have not played the first game | Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered | It is the PS5 version of the original story and includes the three-part The City That Never Sleeps storyline. |
| You have finished the first game | Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales | It directly follows the original and introduces the next chapter before Spider-Man 2. |
| You have finished Miles Morales | Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 | It is the next main story entry, continuing the stories of Peter Parker and Miles Morales. |
| You want a different superhero series | Batman: Arkham Collection, with a platform check first | It is an adjacent superhero option, not a Spider-Man game. Confirm the edition and PS5 compatibility before buying. |
PlayStation’s series overview and game pages, checked October 13, 2026, place the three Spider-Man games in this order. The timeline advances about twelve months from the first game to Miles Morales, then roughly nine months from Miles Morales to Spider-Man 2. Those intervals describe the stories, not how long the games take to finish.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered: start here if you missed the original
Why it belongs first
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is the natural starting point for someone who has not played the first adventure. PlayStation lists it for PS5 and PC, with a PS5 release date of May 4, 2023. It includes the three-part The City That Never Sleeps storyline, so the package covers the original story and that additional narrative content.

The official series order places it before Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2.

When returning players can skip it
If you already finished the first game, you do not need to replay it to follow the recommended order. Move on to Miles Morales. Revisit Remastered if you want to replay the original adventure or experience The City That Never Sleeps storyline; the included expansion is a reason to return, not a prerequisite for everyone who has completed the base story.
2. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: the direct follow-up
Why it is the best next choice after the first game
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the direct follow-up to the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. PlayStation places its story about twelve months after the first game. That makes it the clearest bridge between the original and Spider-Man 2, whose story comes later.
PlayStation lists Miles Morales for PS4, PS5, and PC. For this article’s PS5 route, choose the PS5 version. If you are considering an Ultimate Edition, PlayStation says that edition includes Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. That inclusion can be useful if you are new to the series and want the starting game alongside Miles’s story; it is not necessary if you already own or have completed Remastered.

What order to use if you have already played the original
- Continue with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
- After finishing it, play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
There is no need to replay Remastered between those two games. The official story progression already puts Miles’s game between the first adventure and the sequel.
3. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: continue with Peter and Miles
Where it fits
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the next main story entry after Miles Morales. PlayStation places it roughly nine months after that game. Its PS5 product page lists an October 20, 2023 release date and availability for PS5 and PC. PlayStation describes it as a single-player game in which players can switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
For a PS5 player following the story, the intended route is Remastered if needed, then Miles Morales, then Spider-Man 2. If you have already played the first game, the practical route is simply the latter two.
Rank #3
- Miles morales discovers explosive powers that set him apart from his mentor, peter parker. Master his unique, bio-electric venom Blast attacks and covert camouflage power alongside spectacular web-slinging acrobatics, gadgets and skills.
- A war for control of Marvel's new York has broken out between a devious Energy Corporation and a high-tech criminal army. With his new home at the heart of the battle, miles must learn the cost of becoming a hero.
- Traverse the snowy streets of his new, vibrant and bustling Neighborhood as miles searches for a sense of belonging. When the lines blur between his personal and crime-fighting lives, he discovers who he can trust, and what it feels like to truly be home.
Can you play it without the earlier games?
Yes. PlayStation says Spider-Man 2 can be enjoyed without previous story or character knowledge, while recommending the earlier titles for players who want to experience the developing narrative fully. So if you are interested in the newest main entry and do not want to go back, you can start there; if character and story continuity matter to you, play Miles Morales first.

Is Batman: Arkham Collection a Spider-Man alternative?
It is an option if what you want is another superhero action series, but it is not part of the Spider-Man story and should not be treated as a direct continuation. PlayStation’s superhero-games guide describes Batman: Arkham Collection as bringing together remastered Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, alongside Arkham Knight.
The available PlayStation guide does not establish a current PS5 compatibility path for every edition. Before purchasing it for a PS5, verify the exact edition, region, and platform information on the product listing.
