For a continuously repeating prerecorded property tour on YouTube Live, OBS Studio is the best-supported choice: add the local video as a Media Source and enable Loop. For a sequence of tours, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist (with VLC installed). If you want a video to start at a scheduled time and play once, StreamYard documents that separate workflow; it is not a continuous loop.
Choose the tool for the way you want the video to run
| What you need | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat one property video continuously in a YouTube Live broadcast | OBS Studio | Its Media Source plays a local video file and offers a Loop control. OBS Media Sources documentation. |
| Repeat several property videos as a playlist | OBS Studio with VLC Video source | OBS documents playlist playback and a Loop Playlist setting. VLC must be installed for the source to appear. OBS Media Sources documentation. |
| Start a prerecorded video at a scheduled time and play it once | StreamYard prerecorded streaming | Its documented broadcast starts at the selected time and ends when the video finishes; the workflow does not describe continuous looping. StreamYard prerecorded streaming help. |
| Include a host, switch cameras, or add live production elements | OBS Studio or another encoder | YouTube identifies encoders as an option for screen sharing, external audio/video hardware, and more advanced productions. YouTube’s encoder guide. |
For a property-video channel that should remain live and repeat uploaded footage, StreamNeo is the #1 cloud alternative: it keeps a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and a free first day.
Loop a property video with OBS Studio
Before you begin
- Verify the YouTube channel and enable live streaming. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s encoder guide.
- YouTube says a channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, must be verified, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. Live content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
- Have the property-tour video stored locally and confirm that you have rights to broadcast its footage, music, images, and any people shown. Neither OBS nor YouTube can establish your rights to a particular video.
Set up a single repeating video
- Open OBS Studio and create or select a scene for the property broadcast.
- In the scene’s Sources panel, add a Media Source, name it, and browse to the local video file.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. Confirm the preview shows the right framing and that the video’s audio is present if it should be.
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream. Use YouTube’s encoder workflow to obtain the server details and stream key, then enter them in OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like an account credential: do not share or publish it. YouTube’s encoder guide.
- Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to values your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS, testing with representative audio and motion before the broadcast, and monitoring stream health while live. Use YouTube’s current codec- and resolution-specific bitrate ranges rather than guessing. YouTube recommended live encoder settings.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room for the incoming picture, sound, and stream-health status before sharing the broadcast publicly.
Loop a playlist instead
- Install VLC if it is not already installed; OBS’s VLC Video source is available only when VLC is installed.
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and add the property-tour files in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist, then preview the sequence and check its audio before connecting and going live as above.
OBS documents these source controls, but its documentation does not establish how seamless a loop boundary will look for every file or computer. Preview the transition between the end and beginning of your particular video or playlist.
When a scheduled one-time broadcast is enough
StreamYard’s prerecorded-streaming workflow is suited to uploading a video, selecting a destination and scheduled time, and letting the broadcast start automatically. The broadcast ends when the video finishes; its help page does not describe repeating the video until stopped. It also says overlays and other media assets cannot be controlled during that automatic broadcast, and upload size, bitrate, resolution, and duration limits vary by plan and can change. Check the current limits in StreamYard’s prerecorded-streaming help before choosing it.

For StreamYard’s general connection guidance, its help center recommends a consistent connection, Ethernet when possible, and at least 5 Mbps upload and download. That is StreamYard’s recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular broadcast will work at every resolution. Prerecorded streaming · StreamYard connection guidance.
What the setup does—and does not—require
YouTube describes an encoder as software or standalone hardware that converts video for streaming. OBS can send a local Media Source directly; a webcam, microphone, or capture card is not inherently required to loop a prepared video file. Those devices matter if you want to add live camera footage, narration, or external production inputs. Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start a YouTube broadcast: check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, the channel has no restriction in the previous 90 days, and the first-time activation period has elapsed if applicable. YouTube eligibility · YouTube encoder guide.
- The video stops instead of repeating: reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a multi-file sequence, use the VLC Video source and confirm Loop Playlist is on.
- The VLC source is missing: install VLC, then reopen or refresh OBS so it can make that source available.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS stream: confirm the selected YouTube stream, server details, and stream key match; if you suspect the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube and update OBS. Follow YouTube’s encoder connection workflow. YouTube’s encoder guide.
- The image or sound stutters, or stream health is poor: reduce the output settings to fit the available upload connection, test using similar motion and audio, and monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators. Consult the recommended values for the selected codec and resolution. YouTube recommended live encoder settings.
- The scheduled video plays only once: that matches StreamYard’s documented prerecorded workflow. Use OBS looping or a cloud service designed to keep uploaded videos repeating if you need a continuous broadcast.
