For prerecorded videos that should play continuously as a YouTube Live broadcast, choose a cloud playout service if you do not want a computer running at home, or a local encoder such as OBS if you want to operate the stream yourself. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for straightforward, always-on cloud playback: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
YouTube Studio schedules the live event; an encoder or cloud service supplies the live video feed. YouTube does not turn an uploaded playlist into a continuous live stream by itself. The options below differ in playback controls, plan limits, and how much of the operation you manage.

Best software for a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube channel
- StreamNeo — best for cloud-based, always-on playback. It plays uploaded videos and playlists on YouTube from the cloud, so your computer can be off. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free.
- Upstream — consider it for cloud playlists and scheduled prerecorded streams. The vendor describes ordered or shuffled looping, continuous cloud streaming, and one-off or repeating schedules. Its FAQ states a free allowance of 24 streaming hours per month.
- OneStream Live — consider it if its YouTube-only 24/7 workflow fits. OneStream’s support article says the feature requires Enterprise and limits each scheduled broadcast to 30 days.
- LiveGoLive — consider it for cloud playlists with manual stream-key setup. The vendor describes continuous or scheduled playback; its YouTube authorization feature is marked beta.
- Looping Stream — consider it for cloud playlist management. Its vendor guide describes playback without keeping a local computer online; check current storage, simultaneous-stream, format, and plan details before choosing.
- OBS — best suited to operators who want a local, no-charge encoder. YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming and recording software. The computer running it must keep providing the stream feed.
YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists OBS and cloud services including Gyre and Upstream. This is a directory, not a ranking or an independent reliability certification. Vendor feature descriptions here are claims by their respective providers; they are not head-to-head test results.

| Option | What it does | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud playback of uploaded videos and playlists for YouTube, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. | Whether a slot-based service and its storage allowance fit your channel. |
| Upstream | Vendor describes cloud playlists that loop in order or shuffle, plus scheduled prerecorded video. | Whether its playlist controls, repeating schedules, and monthly streaming allowance meet your needs. |
| OneStream Live | Its documented 24/7 workflow is for YouTube. | Whether Enterprise and the 30-day maximum scheduled broadcast duration are acceptable. |
| LiveGoLive | Vendor describes continuous or scheduled cloud broadcasts, manual stream-key configuration, and a beta YouTube authorization option. | Whether the beta authorization is available and suitable, or manual key entry is preferable. |
| Looping Stream | Vendor describes cloud playback and playlist management. | Current storage, simultaneous streams, supported formats, and plan details. |
| OBS or another local encoder | Software on your computer encodes and sends the live feed to YouTube. | Whether you can keep the computer, network, playback, and recovery process running. |
Compare services by whether playback is cloud-hosted or local, whether playlists run in order or shuffle, whether they support continuous and scheduled broadcasts, how you manage stream health and archives, and what storage, duration, destination, or plan restrictions apply. The available sources do not establish a reliable service winner, and no comparable independent reliability data is available.

How YouTube scheduling and prerecorded playback fit together
A YouTube Live broadcast has two separate parts: the scheduled event in YouTube Studio and the encoder feed that carries the video. YouTube describes an encoder as software on a computer or standalone hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. A cloud playout service performs the feed and playback work on its own infrastructure instead.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. YouTube’s first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Connect the encoder. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the local encoder or configure the destination in the cloud service. YouTube’s documented instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.”
- Prepare the prerecorded playback. In a service with playlist playout, upload or select the videos and set their order or shuffle behavior. A local setup needs a playback source and an encoder that can send it continuously.
- Check the preview and start the broadcast. For a scheduled encoder stream, YouTube’s documented flow is to wait for the preview and click Go live when appropriate. Follow the chosen service’s start or scheduling controls for its cloud feed.
Upstream says its computer can be off while its cloud playlist runs. OneStream describes scheduling a 24-hour stream immediately or later and setting a duration in days, with a stated maximum of 30 days. LiveGoLive describes continuous or scheduled cloud broadcasting; it also distinguishes a connected mode that can rotate broadcasts from manual mode, where the channel operator manages YouTube broadcasts and archives.

What a local OBS setup involves
OBS is a local encoder, not a cloud scheduler: your computer must remain on, connected to the internet, and able to play the video and send the feed. YouTube lists OBS as no-charge open-source recording and streaming software. The source materials here do not specify an exact OBS version, menu path, or recommended bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval, so use current YouTube and OBS guidance for settings appropriate to your upload and connection rather than relying on a guessed universal preset.

- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream in Live Control Room.
- In OBS, configure a video source or media playlist for the prerecorded content and set the encoder output for your connection and intended stream quality.
- Copy the YouTube stream server URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming configuration. Treat the key as a password; do not post or send it in chat.
- Start streaming in OBS and verify the preview in Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, wait for the preview and click Go live when ready.
- Keep OBS, playback, the computer, and network connection operating; monitor the feed and have a recovery plan for interruptions.
Copyright, stream keys, and archive boundaries
Use content you have rights to broadcast
Use only videos, music, and other media your channel owns or is authorized to broadcast. Prerecorded presentation does not remove copyright, Community Guidelines, or monetization-policy obligations. Repeatedly broadcasting material you do not have rights to can put the channel at risk.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteProtect the stream key
A stream key is a credential that can allow someone to broadcast to your channel. Do not publish it or send it in chat. If a service offers account authorization, review the permissions before granting access; if you use manual key entry, handle the key as a secret.

Plan for archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous channel therefore needs an archive-boundary plan rather than assuming one recording will cover an indefinite broadcast. In LiveGoLive’s description, connected mode can rotate broadcasts; in manual mode, YouTube broadcast and archive management remain with the channel operator.
Quick Recap
Common problems and what to check
- The scheduled event exists, but viewers see no live video: scheduling and the encoder feed are separate. Check that the encoder or cloud service is connected with the correct YouTube server URL and stream key, then confirm that a preview appears in Live Control Room.
- You cannot start your first live stream: YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. Allow for activation before a planned launch.
- The computer can’t be turned off: that is expected for a local encoder such as OBS, which must supply the feed. Use cloud playout if the channel needs to continue while the computer is off.
- A long broadcast ends or its archive is split: YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours. Check how the service handles broadcast rotation and decide who manages the next event and archive.
- A cloud service is unavailable for the desired duration: check its plan and broadcast limits. For example, OneStream’s article says its 24/7 workflow requires Enterprise and is capped at 30 days per scheduled broadcast.
- A connection fails after choosing authorization: LiveGoLive marks YouTube authorization as beta and also documents manual stream-key setup. Check feature availability and permissions; manual setup is an alternative described by the vendor.
