If CookieRun: Kingdom is hot, stuttering, or repeatedly reloading on your phone, start with the in-game Frame Rate: Auto option, keep Simple Buildings enabled on a lower-memory device, and use the Cookie performance options when they are available. Auto is the only current frame-rate choice designed to react to device temperature. Fixed 30 FPS can be a sensible fallback for a phone that stays hot; fixed 60 FPS is appropriate only when the device can sustain it without overheating.

The recommendations below are based on Devsisters’ July and August 2026 notices and support guidance. Those notices explain intended behavior, but they do not publish benchmark results for frame rate, temperature, battery life, or memory use. No device-specific testing has established a guaranteed “best” combination.

Use this starting setup

Open CookieRun: Kingdom’s in-game Settings and begin with the following choices:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Frame Rate: Auto when heat or inconsistent performance is the concern.
  • Simple Buildings: Enabled, particularly on a lower-memory phone or when the Kingdom view causes pauses.
  • Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation: Reduce or disable the corresponding effects if those options appear in your installed version and Cookie activity is causing strain.
  • Resolution: Treat it as a heat-troubleshooting control. If the phone remains hot, try a lower available level and check whether text and buildings are still clear.

This is a starting point, not a measured performance guarantee. Change one setting at a time, play the same activity for several minutes, and observe heat, frame pacing, reloads, and visual quality before deciding whether the change helped.

How the three frame-rate choices behave

In the August 12, 2026 update, Devsisters added three named choices: 30 FPS, Auto, and 60 FPS. The meaningful distinction is not simply “low versus high.” It is whether the game is allowed to respond to temperature.

Choice Behavior described by Devsisters When it makes sense Trade-off
30 FPS Fixed frame rate; it does not adjust according to device temperature. A phone that stays warm, cannot hold a higher rate, or feels steadier with a lower cap. Lower motion fluidity than a stable 60 FPS presentation.
Auto Starts at 30 FPS, can switch to 60 FPS after the device temperature remains stable for a period, and returns to 30 FPS if temperature remains elevated at 60 FPS for a period. The best first experiment for heat, variable frame pacing, or a device whose sustained capacity is uncertain. The frame rate can change during play as temperature changes.
60 FPS Fixed frame rate; selecting it does not make the game lower the rate in response to temperature. A device that can remain cool and stable while rendering the higher target. More thermal load may accumulate on a phone that cannot sustain it; 60 FPS is not automatically smoother if frames are being missed.

Devsisters states the Auto sequence this way: “The game starts at 30 FPS. If the device temperature remains stable for a certain duration, the frame rate will switch to 60 FPS.” The notice also says that the game drops back to 30 FPS when temperature remains elevated at 60 FPS for a period. The duration is not specified, so a switch will not happen on a predictable timer.

Why Auto is the logical heat setting

Auto gives the game permission to use 60 FPS only after temperature has been stable, then to retreat to 30 FPS when sustained heat is detected. That makes it different from choosing 60 FPS and hoping the phone copes. If your complaint is “it starts smoothly and becomes choppy after the phone warms up,” Auto is the most relevant option to try first.

When to compare Auto with fixed 30 FPS

If the phone remains hot, or Auto’s transitions feel distracting, compare it with fixed 30 FPS during the same activity. This is practical troubleshooting based on the stated behavior of the options, not a laboratory result. A lower fixed target may feel more consistent on a device that cannot hold higher frame delivery, while another phone may benefit from Auto’s temporary 60 FPS periods.

When 60 FPS is appropriate

Choose fixed 60 FPS only when your device can maintain a comfortable temperature and consistent motion in the areas where you play most. The game will not automatically lower the selected rate because the phone is hot. If heat, battery drain, or late-session stutter matters more than maximum motion fluidity, Auto or 30 FPS is the safer experiment.

Settings for overheating

Heat is a sustained-load problem, not just a momentary FPS reading. A phone may begin at a high frame rate and then reduce performance as its thermal conditions change. Use this order when the back of the phone becomes hot or performance deteriorates after several minutes.

  1. Select Frame Rate: Auto. This is the only frame-rate mode in the August 12 notice with temperature-responsive behavior.
  2. Retest the same activity. Use a repeatable situation such as a Kingdom visit or battle, rather than comparing unrelated scenes.
  3. If the phone is still hot, compare fixed 30 FPS. Do not treat the comparison as a guaranteed improvement; judge whether motion remains more consistent and the chassis is more comfortable.
  4. Review Resolution. Devsisters’ July 29, 2026 notice says the Resolution option was optimized to reduce device overheating. It does not prescribe a numeric level for every phone. If your version offers multiple levels, a lower available level is a reasonable troubleshooting experiment, provided you check readability and visual clarity.
  5. Stop escalating the frame-rate target. Selecting 60 FPS on a phone already showing sustained heat does not activate automatic thermal reduction.

Resolution and frame rate affect different aspects of the workload. The notice identifies Resolution as an overheating-related optimization, but it does not establish how much temperature changes at any particular level. Keep the level that leaves the interface legible while reducing the symptoms you can actually observe.

Settings for a lower-memory phone

Keep Simple Buildings enabled

Simple Buildings replaces animations for some Kingdom buildings with static images. Devsisters says the purpose is to reduce memory use for smoother gameplay, and the July 29 notice says it is enabled by default on iOS devices with 4 GB RAM or less and Android devices with 3 GB RAM or less. Players can change the setting in the game’s Settings menu.

This option changes presentation in the Kingdom view. Static building images are less animated, but the description does not say that battle mechanics are removed or simplified. If the Kingdom view pauses, reloads, or causes the rest of the app to feel short of memory, leave Simple Buildings on before trading it for more visual detail.

When disabling it might be reasonable

A higher-memory device may have enough headroom for the animated presentation, and some players may prefer it. Disable Simple Buildings only if you value the extra animation and the phone remains stable during the same Kingdom activities. If reloads or stutters appear, restore the simpler presentation.

Reduce Cookie-related load

The August 26, 2026 notice adds Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation options to reduce the performance load caused by Cookies on lower-end devices. The notice does not publish exact toggle values, a universal menu path beyond the Settings menu, or a measured FPS improvement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to use the Cookie options

  1. Open the game’s Settings menu and look for Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation.
  2. If Cookie-heavy scenes coincide with stutter or rapid memory pressure, try reducing the corresponding activity or animation option available in your installed version.
  3. Play the same Cookie-related activity again and compare reloads, responsiveness, and visual changes.
  4. Keep the setting only if the reduction solves a symptom you care about; the exact visual difference depends on the option values shown by your version.

On low-end iOS devices, Devsisters warns that the Kingdom may reload when available memory runs low. That is a memory-pressure symptom rather than proof that one particular Cookie toggle will prevent every reload. Simple Buildings and the Cookie options address different sources of load, so a device showing both Kingdom and Cookie-related problems may need both enabled or reduced.

Resolution: a heat control without a universal number

Devsisters’ July 29 update says the Resolution option was optimized to reduce device overheating. It does not state “use level X,” identify one best value for every screen, or quantify the temperature change. Therefore, the correct procedure is an observation-based adjustment:

  1. Record the current resolution level and note whether the phone becomes hot during a repeatable activity.
  2. Choose one lower available level.
  3. Check small text, building edges, and battle effects for acceptable clarity.
  4. Repeat the same activity long enough for heat to develop, then decide whether the lower level improves comfort or stability.
  5. Restore the previous level if the visual loss outweighs any benefit.

Do not describe a lower resolution as an official prescription. It is a practical experiment built around the notice’s statement that Resolution was optimized for overheating.

Choose settings by the symptom you see

  • iOS: iOS 13 or newer and at least 2 GB RAM.
  • Android: at least 3 GB RAM.
  • Storage: additional space may be needed; the install guidance recommends freeing device memory.
  • Software: keep the operating system up to date.
  • Network: use a stable connection, particularly when the symptom is delayed loading, disconnects, or server-related pauses rather than visual frame pacing.
  • App source: use the official app-store installation.

These are support-page minimums and checks, not a smooth-performance guarantee. A phone that meets the stated RAM threshold can still struggle with sustained heat, background applications, available storage, or a demanding scene.

Free memory before blaming the frame-rate setting

Close memory-heavy background apps, make sure the phone has usable free storage, and restart the device if it has been running for a long time. This is especially relevant when the Kingdom reloads or when the operating system reports low available memory. It does not replace the Simple Buildings or Cookie settings; it removes another source of pressure.

Separate network lag from rendering stutter

If characters appear to pause while menus and local animation remain responsive, the connection may be involved. If the entire interface and animation cadence slow as the phone heats, rendering or thermal limits are more likely. Check network stability as support recommends, but do not expect a frame-rate change to repair an unstable connection.

Apple Game Mode is conditional

Apple says Game Mode on supported devices and games can prioritize performance for smoother, more consistent frame rates and better responsiveness. Apple’s article specifies an iPhone running iOS 18 or later and a supported game. The available information does not confirm that CookieRun: Kingdom is supported on every eligible iPhone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If Game Mode appears for the game on your device, you can leave it enabled and compare behavior. If it does not appear, there is no basis for assuming that the feature is active. Treat it as a platform feature to verify, not as a guaranteed CookieRun: Kingdom setting.

A repeatable tuning process

Changing every option at once makes it impossible to know which trade-off helped. Use this sequence instead:

  1. Describe the symptom. Decide whether the main issue is heat, uneven motion, Kingdom reloads, Cookie-heavy scenes, connection delay, or a combination.
  2. Check the basics. Confirm the official store install, current OS, stable network, free device memory, and the applicable support minimum.
  3. Set Auto frame rate. Play the same activity until the phone reaches the temperature at which the problem normally appears.
  4. Address memory pressure. Keep Simple Buildings enabled; then try the Cookie Activity or Cookie Animation controls if the symptom is tied to Cookies.
  5. Test Resolution only if heat remains. Lower one available level and inspect clarity before continuing.
  6. Compare fixed 30 FPS. Use the same activity and judge consistency rather than a brief peak in smoothness.
  7. Use 60 FPS only as a deliberate comparison. Keep it if the phone remains comfortable and stable; switch away if sustained heat or later stutter appears.
  8. Document the result. Note the frame-rate mode, resolution level, Simple Buildings state, Cookie settings, activity tested, and whether the symptom improved. Restore the last known-good combination after an unsuccessful experiment.

What the official notices do—and do not—establish

The notices establish the intended role of each setting: Auto responds to temperature, Resolution was optimized with overheating in mind, Simple Buildings substitutes static images to reduce memory use, and Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation are intended to reduce Cookie-related load. They do not provide a universal FPS gain, a percentage reduction in temperature, a battery-saving figure, or a device-by-device recommendation.

That distinction matters because “smoother” can mean several things: fewer severe slowdowns, steadier frame pacing, fewer app reloads, a cooler phone, or simply a higher peak frame rate. A setting that reduces animation may improve memory behavior while making the Kingdom look less lively. A fixed 30 FPS cap may feel more consistent than an unstable 60 FPS target, but it cannot create detail or performance that the device does not have.

Recommended profiles

Hot phone or late-session slowdown

  • Frame Rate: Auto.
  • Simple Buildings: Enabled.
  • Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation: reduce if Cookie scenes are involved.
  • Resolution: test one lower available level if heat continues, checking clarity.

Lower-memory iPhone or Android phone

  • Simple Buildings: Enabled.
  • Frame Rate: Auto first; compare fixed 30 FPS if the phone remains hot.
  • Cookie Activity and Cookie Animation: use the lower-load choices available in Settings.
  • Keep free memory available and watch for Kingdom reloads.

Capable device seeking maximum fluidity

  • Frame Rate: 60 FPS as a deliberate test.
  • Monitor sustained temperature rather than judging the first minute.
  • Switch to Auto if heat or later stutter develops, because fixed 60 FPS does not temperature-adjust.
  • Keep Simple Buildings enabled if the Kingdom view still causes memory pressure; visual detail is not worth repeated reloads.

Bottom line

For most players asking how to make CookieRun: Kingdom run smoother, Auto frame rate is the best first setting because it can move between 30 and 60 FPS in response to sustained device temperature. Use fixed 30 FPS when consistency and heat control matter more than peak motion fluidity, and reserve fixed 60 FPS for a phone that demonstrably stays cool and stable. Keep Simple Buildings enabled on lower-memory devices, try the Cookie performance controls for Cookie-related strain, and treat Resolution as a heat experiment rather than a one-size-fits-all number. If those changes do not solve the problem, check the official installation, OS, memory, network, and minimum-requirement guidance before assuming another graphics toggle will fix it.
