Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThere is no developer-verified universal preset that guarantees smooth performance in Used Cars Simulator. The most reliable approach is to start from a low preset, test the same scene, and raise one setting group at a time. Prioritize resolution scale, shadows, vegetation, view distance, screen-space reflections (SSR), ambient occlusion (AO), and water quality; these are the controls identified in a community settings reference, although the exact menu and available options can change between builds.
Used Cars Simulator is a Windows PC game from DreamWay Games, published by PlayWay S.A., and the live Steam listing records a full release on October 9, 2026. Its listed requirements are reference tiers, not frame-rate guarantees. Check the current listing before changing hardware because the requirements page says specifications can change as development continues.

What “smooth performance” means for this game
A smooth experience is not a particular number that works for every PC. It means the frame rate and frame pacing remain acceptable in the situations that matter to you: driving through a busy area, walking around a dealership, loading a yard full of vehicles, or looking across distant vegetation. A setting that looks fine in a quiet garage can become expensive outdoors.

No controlled benchmark by graphics card, processor, resolution, or target frame rate has been published. Therefore, any “best settings” list should be treated as a starting point rather than a measured optimum. Your display resolution, refresh rate, thermal limits, background applications, and the current game build all affect the result.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
The practical method in this guide is deliberately reversible: establish a baseline, change one related group, reproduce the same scene, and keep the change only if the image-quality benefit is worth the performance cost.
Check your PC against the current Steam requirements
The live Steam listing for Used Cars Simulator gives the following Windows specifications. They are the publisher’s listed minimum and recommended tiers, not independent tests or promises of a particular frame rate.
| Tier | Operating system | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 64-bit | Intel Core i3-4130 at 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 280 | 20 GB available |
| Recommended | Windows 10 64-bit | Intel Core i7-9700 at 3.6 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 at 3.6 GHz | 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 | 24 GB available |
A computer near the minimum tier may need reduced resolution or several low settings, particularly in scenes with many objects. A computer near the recommended tier still may require tuning if it runs at a high resolution, has a slower mobile variant of a listed component, or is limited by heat or background load. Neither tier establishes that a specific graphics card upgrade will solve your particular problem.

Prepare before changing graphics options
- Install the latest game update available to you. The developers have described ongoing optimization work, so an older build may not represent current performance.
- Record your current resolution, resolution scale, graphics preset, and any frame-rate cap. A phone photo of the menu makes it easy to undo changes.
- Close unnecessary GPU- or CPU-heavy applications, overlays, and browser tabs before testing. Keep your normal gaming applications running only if you routinely use them.
- Use the same save, location, camera direction, and activity for each comparison. Repeating a busy outdoor route is more informative than staring at a static menu.
- Decide what “acceptable” means for your display: consistent motion, reduced hitching, or a particular refresh-rate target. Do not choose a target that your hardware cannot sustain in every scene.
- Check temperatures and clock speeds while playing. A setting change cannot fix a processor or graphics card that is throttling because of heat or power limits.
Build a stable baseline, then tune upward
- Open the game’s graphics or video settings and select the lower overall quality preset. A Steam Community user specifically recommends beginning with very low overall quality, but that is anecdotal advice rather than a tested preset.
- Apply the preset and restart the game if the build requests it. Test the same demanding scene for several minutes rather than judging the first frame after loading.
- If performance is still poor, lower resolution scale or the display resolution. This usually changes the number of pixels the GPU must render, but it also makes the image softer, so use the smallest reduction that solves the problem.
- Raise one setting group at a time. Test shadows, vegetation, view distance, SSR, AO, and water separately if those controls are present in your build.
- Keep a change only when its visual improvement is obvious in the places you play. If motion becomes uneven or frame-time spikes return, restore the previous value.
- After finding a balance, play a normal session that includes driving, entering buildings, and visiting busy areas. A short repeatable test can miss streaming or traversal stutter.
No current official or exhaustive settings inventory for these controls is published. The community reference may use different names, combine options into presets, or omit a control. Treat the following entries as tuning categories rather than guaranteed labels.
Which settings to test first
Resolution scale and display resolution
Resolution is often the fastest way to reduce a GPU-bound load because fewer pixels must be shaded. Lower resolution scale first if the game provides it; it can preserve your monitor’s output mode while reducing internal rendering resolution. If your build has no scale control, test a lower display resolution instead.
Use this option when the GPU is near full utilization and lowering other effects has little impact. The trade-off is image sharpness, especially on large or high-density displays. Avoid changing resolution and several effects at the same time, or you will not know which change helped.

Shadows
Shadows can be expensive because the game must render shadow maps for lights and update them as objects move. Test a lower shadow quality or distance before sacrificing every other visual setting. Look for the effect in outdoor yards, where trees, vehicles, and structures can cast many shadows.
The developer has said that an update reduced shadowcaster data on far vegetation and trees to improve performance. That is a description of game-side optimization, not a guarantee that a particular shadow value will produce the same gain on your PC.
Vegetation
Lower vegetation quality or density if frame rate falls while looking across trees, grass, or other distant plant life. Vegetation can increase both rendering work and the number of objects the CPU must manage. Compare the same view before and after changing it; a small reduction may be enough.
View distance
View distance controls how far objects remain detailed or visible. Lowering it can help when the processor or GPU struggles in open areas, but excessive reduction causes objects and detail to appear close to the camera. Test it together with vegetation only after you have a baseline, because both affect distant scenes and changing both at once hides their individual cost.
Screen-space reflections (SSR)
SSR calculates reflections from information already visible on screen. It can be costly around shiny cars, wet surfaces, and water, and it may produce artifacts when a reflecting object is outside the camera view. If reflections are not important to you, lower or disable SSR and compare a vehicle yard or wet area.

Ambient occlusion (AO)
AO adds contact shading where surfaces meet, helping vehicles and objects look grounded. Lower AO if you need extra headroom and the visual difference is minor at your normal camera distance. It is usually a more defensible compromise than reducing the entire resolution immediately, but your result depends on the implementation in the current build.
Water quality
Water settings can affect reflections, transparency, and additional effects. Lower water quality if slowdowns cluster around ponds, puddles, or other water surfaces. Test a scene that actually contains water; changing it will not explain performance in a dry garage.
Overall quality and high-end lighting
Use the overall preset as a quick baseline, not as the final answer. A low preset may turn down several effects that you could safely raise later. The community discussion also mentions lowering resolution and disabling high-end lighting as possible measures; that is reader-reported advice, not a controlled result.
If your build exposes separate lighting, volumetric, or reflection options, reduce those only after confirming that the slowdown occurs in scenes where those effects are visible. Keep a written record so that you can restore a setting without resetting the entire preset.
Diagnose the type of slowdown
Low performance everywhere
If the game is slow in garages, menus, and outdoor areas alike, first confirm that the game is using the intended graphics processor rather than an integrated adapter. Then test a lower resolution scale. If that makes a large difference, the limit is probably graphics rendering; if it barely changes performance, investigate processor load, memory pressure, heat, or a background process.
Slowdowns only outdoors
Outdoor-only drops point you toward vegetation, view distance, shadows, and object density. Lower those categories one at a time and repeat the same route. Do not assume that the most visually obvious option is the bottleneck; without a benchmark, only a controlled comparison can tell you which change matters on your system.

Stutter during driving or turning
Brief hitches while moving can come from asset streaming or CPU work rather than average GPU frame rate. Lower view distance and vegetation, close background tasks, and allow the game to finish loading after entering a new area before judging it. If the issue persists while average frame rate is high, record when it happens and check whether the same location reproduces it.

Test SSR and water quality first, especially around shiny vehicles or wet surfaces. Keep the last stable setting if disabling reflections makes the image look worse than the hitching you were trying to remove. The developer’s reflection optimization may help in an updated build, so verify that the game is current before making a hardware decision.
Performance degrades during a long session
Watch temperatures and clock speeds. A rising temperature followed by lower clock speed suggests thermal throttling, which graphics settings alone will not correct. Improve airflow, remove dust safely, or use a sensible system power and cooling profile before comparing presets again.
Tuning versus buying hardware
Adjusting settings is reversible and costs nothing, while an upgrade costs money and may not address a processor, memory, or thermal limit. Use the following decision framework rather than treating the recommended graphics card as a purchase instruction.
| Route | When it makes sense | What it can change | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tune the existing PC | Your system meets or exceeds the minimum tier and lowering resolution or effects improves performance. | Rendering load, image quality, and sometimes frame-time consistency. | That every scene will hold a chosen frame rate. |
| Investigate a GPU upgrade | GPU utilization is consistently high, reducing resolution helps substantially, and the power supply, case, and motherboard support the candidate card. | Pixel throughput and graphics headroom. | That the GPU is the only limit or that a listed card guarantees smooth play. |
| Investigate a CPU or memory upgrade | GPU utilization is low while the processor is saturated, memory is nearly full, or outdoor traversal causes CPU-bound hitching. | Simulation, draw-call handling, and multitasking capacity. | That more CPU or RAM will fix a graphics-bound workload. |
The Steam recommended tier names an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 5700, alongside a Core i7-9700 or Ryzen 5 3600 and 16 GB of RAM. Those are published reference components, not a diagnosis for your PC. Before buying anything, identify which resource is actually saturated, verify power and physical compatibility, and compare the total upgrade cost with the improvement you need.
Keep the game and expectations current
The developers have publicly described optimization work for distant vegetation shadows and reflections. Such changes can alter the cost of a setting between versions, so retest after major updates rather than assuming an old configuration remains optimal. The Steam requirements themselves may also change as development continues; consult the live listing before publishing or acting on hardware advice.

Do not rely on a generic “PC optimizer” or cleaner as a required fix. No source establishes that a particular utility is approved, necessary, or specifically effective for Used Cars Simulator. The useful sequence is to update the game, measure your own bottleneck, tune the relevant settings, and then consider hardware only when the evidence points to a component limit.
A repeatable five-minute retest
- Load the same save and travel to the same demanding location.
- Stand still for a short observation, then repeat the same camera movement or drive the same route.
- Note average smoothness, visible hitching, image clarity, and temperatures rather than relying on one instantaneous frame-rate reading.
- Change exactly one setting or one tightly related group.
- Repeat the route and keep the change only if the trade-off is better for your use.
Once the settings are stable, save a screenshot of the menu. If a future update resets options or changes their behavior, you have a known configuration to rebuild and a clear comparison point.
Frequently asked questions
Do the minimum requirements guarantee smooth play?
No. They identify the publisher’s minimum hardware tier: Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, a Core i3-4130 or FX-8350, and a GTX 1050 Ti or R9 280, with 20 GB of available storage. They are not a measured frame-rate promise.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesShould I set every option to low?
Use low overall quality as a starting point, then raise options individually. A blanket low preset may reduce visual quality more than necessary, while a targeted reduction in shadows, vegetation, view distance, SSR, AO, or water can preserve the effects you value.
Is the recommended graphics card required?
No. The RTX 3060 and RX 5700 are the cards named in the recommended Steam tier. Buy an upgrade only after confirming that your GPU is the actual limit and that the rest of your system can support it.
Why can another player use higher settings?
Different resolutions, processors, memory configurations, cooling conditions, drivers, background workloads, and game builds produce different results. A community preset is anecdotal and cannot replace testing your own repeatable scene.
