For most Firefox users, start with Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool. It captures a selected region, a highlighted page element, the visible viewport, or the entire page, then lets you download the image or copy it to the clipboard. Install an extension when you need a more specialized workflow such as batch capture, scrolling-region selection, or built-in PDF and image export.
The two extensions with current Firefox Add-ons evidence are GoFullPage and FireShot. Their listings document useful features, but available information does not establish a controlled winner for speed, fidelity, or compatibility. Treat the ratings, user counts, version numbers and update dates below as listing snapshots accessed September 29, 2026.
Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool: the right first step
Mozilla’s support guide documents four capture scopes: a rectangular selection, a page element, the visible portion of the page, and the full page. After selecting an area, use the download control to save the result or copy it to the clipboard. This covers ordinary documentation, bug reports and quick sharing without granting a third-party extension access to every website.
For privacy-sensitive work, review Firefox’s current data settings. Mozilla says the built-in screenshot feature collects interaction data but not the URL or details of the captured image; technical and interaction-data collection can be disabled in Firefox settings. The support article is the authoritative place to check the current controls: Take screenshots in Firefox.

GoFullPage: focused full-page capture
GoFullPage’s Firefox listing describes a workflow that scrolls through a page, assembles the sections and exports the result as PNG, JPEG or PDF. Its premium editor adds cropping and annotation. That makes it a sensible first extension when the main requirement is a complete page with common image or PDF formats rather than batch processing or complex region selection.
Strengths
- Purpose-built for full-page captures rather than a broad collection of unrelated tools.
- PNG, JPEG and PDF export are documented in the listing.
- The listing showed a recent September 24, 2026 update and version 8.9.
Limitations and checks
- The listing showed only five reviews and a 4.2 rating at the stated access time, so that score is not a robust reliability measure.
- Scrolling pages with sticky headers, infinite feeds, animations or protected content can behave differently from a simple document; verify your own pages.
- The listing says the developer does not require data collection, while optional technical and interaction data may be provided. Read the current disclosure before installing.

FireShot: broader modes and batch workflows
FireShot documents full-page, visible-area and scrolling-region capture, with PDF, PNG and JPEG export. Its listing also describes batch capture and paid editing and PDF capabilities. Choose it when you need to capture a scrolling subsection, process multiple pages, or work primarily with PDF output.

- Some editing and PDF functions require an upgrade.
- The listing requests access to data for all websites and download-related permissions. Inspect the current permission explanation before use, especially on internal or confidential pages.

How to choose without relying on unsupported rankings
Choose the capture scope first
- Visible viewport or a small region: use Firefox’s built-in tool.
- Whole page with straightforward image/PDF export: try GoFullPage.
- Scrolling subsection, batches or a PDF-heavy workflow: evaluate FireShot.
Check output and editing requirements
Confirm whether you need PNG, JPEG, PDF, clipboard output, cropping, annotation, redaction or page ranges. A tool that technically captures a page may still require a separate editor for the final deliverable.
Inspect permissions and disclosures
Read the live Add-ons listing immediately before installation. Permissions can change, and a listing disclosure is not an independent security audit. For sensitive pages, prefer the built-in tool or an extension whose current permissions and data practices you understand.

Test difficult pages yourself
No available evidence here supports a universal claim about accuracy, speed or compatibility. Test representative pages containing lazy-loaded images, sticky navigation, long tables, animations, authentication and cookie dialogs. Record whether content is missing, duplicated or cut off before adopting a tool for production documentation.
Practical Firefox capture procedure
- Open the target page and wait until the content you need is loaded.
- For a one-off capture, open Firefox’s screenshot command and choose selection, element, visible page or full page.
- For an extension workflow, install only from the official Mozilla Add-ons listing, then review its permission prompt.
- Run a small test capture before processing a long or sensitive page.
- Choose the required export format, inspect the entire result and redact confidential information before sharing.
Common problems and fixes
The full-page image stops early
Some pages load content only after scrolling or use an infinite feed. Scroll through the page manually until required content appears, wait for images to finish loading, then capture again. If the page never has a fixed end, define a region or capture in sections.
Sticky headers or banners appear repeatedly
Fixed elements may be rendered in every scroll segment. Try the built-in element or region capture, hide the obstructing element with the extension’s available controls, or crop the exported image. Behavior is page-specific and should be verified on your site.
Images or fonts are missing
Wait for network activity and lazy images to complete. Disable aggressive tab suspension, check that the page is not blocked by authentication or content-security rules, and retry from the page’s normal logged-in context.

The extension cannot capture an internal or restricted page
Browser-protected pages, extension pages and some embedded viewers restrict access by design. Use Firefox’s built-in capture where it is supported, or export from the application that owns the document.
The result contains confidential data
Do not upload sensitive pages to an extension or service until you have read its current permission and privacy disclosures. Use a local capture, crop or redact the file, and remove metadata before distribution.

If your workflow is automated, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the request was billed.
